CBeebies weirdness

Jujuheyhey · 22/03/2016 22:44

Home with poorly DD, she is 8 but illness had her regressing into watching CBeebies. Is it just me who reckons Katy from I Can Cook secretly hates kids?

Also wtf is going on in Balamory? Who thought it would be a good idea to have a Scottish policeman trying to dance calypso?!

Hope she's better tomorrow, I can't take another day of it...

I am so glad others have also noticed that Andy is identical to Fatima Whitbread. My 76 year old Dad was the first to say this in our house, and my DS calls Andy 'Fatima' now

SweetieDrops · 23/03/2016 18:33

Oh god, Dirt Girl. I'd blocked her from my memory. Until now.

AnneEtAramis · 23/03/2016 18:47

I am a mum and I don't much like kids generally, other than mine obviously so completely possible Katy might not.

Disclaimer: I have no idea about her feelings about kids and neither am I suggesting she doesn't like them.

Dollly · 23/03/2016 18:52

Baby Jake!! Spend all your time teaching your toddler to talk then they put that trash on with him constantly saying 'goo goo gaa gaa'!
Drives me crazy!!

RainbowPickle · 23/03/2016 19:17

Hot potatoes - random singing potatoes. Dd loves Topsy and Tim ( isn't Tim the drippiest child) Also not a massive fan of Chris & Poi - very bad amateur dramatics! I do love a bit of Rastamouse

Housemum · 23/03/2016 19:26

I can't cope with the fact that Mr President wears a shirt but no trousers - too full monty for me!
I miss the old days of Aunty Mabel looking at poo! The other day there was a clip of something on Gogglebox (as in typing this I'm wondering if I made it up?!) about dogs flying planes - I said they neede Pippin!
I'm sure someone posted on MN a few years back about Sid being a bit of a party animal

Sundaysmumisfullofwine · 23/03/2016 19:26

DS is obsessed with Go Jetters at the moment. I'm just grateful there is a new series on so that I don't have to watch the same 10 episodes over and over.

The theme tune is a ridiculous earworm.

FeckOfffCup · 23/03/2016 19:51

I love Sarah and Duck!

Don't even get me started on Zingzillas. Or Topsy and fucking Tim. The theme tune alone makes me want to throw things

MrsHathaway · 23/03/2016 20:10

Sundaysmum amusingly enough I read your post whilst watching yet more fucking Go Jetters on catchup Grin

They've made fifty-odd episodes, but I kid you not, they've shown the same ten on repeat since autumn. The next five were only released this week. The associated computer game has been online for about eighteen months. It's based on the same ten fucking episodes.

But it does feature a disco unicorn

Peppaismyhomegirl · 23/03/2016 20:10

"I've got to do it, I've got to do it, I've got to beat the clock before the time"

Eldest is an early riser. This programme is torture.

MrsHathaway · 23/03/2016 20:16

Tony Welch is like the Pando of Topsy and Tim. Every time you see him you know something shit's going to happen and it "won't be his fault" even though it totally is.

So true!

DC3 is obsessed with Bing so we watch it a lot 70+ episodes saved on Sky box. If DC1 or DC2 spots Pando fully dressed they say "Pando's got his shorts on" and he's always kicked them off before they finish saying it. Padget (voiced by lovely quiet Call The Midwife nun) is crap though - lets Pando get away with murder.

Duplo80 · 23/03/2016 20:39

Anyone else got that song 'Animals come in all shapes and sizes' going round in their head all day?!

DrEdwardNigma · 23/03/2016 22:03

Bing is a huge favourite here, got to say, pando is the best.
Hey Dugee! I make the kids watch it, I love it so much haha! Especially the egg badge Grin
Chris and Pui are lovely IRL, I've met them several times, Chris gave me advice on my iPhone. Was quite star struck as I remember watching him on CBBC when I was a child :)

ShiverMeWhiskers · 23/03/2016 22:52

I miss CBeebies, we only usually watch it now at my nans house and quite often its Balamory....didn't stop DS asking if I could make a CBeebies birthday card for him for his 8th birthday last week. Couldn't believe it actually made it to the tv!! I guess they don't get a huge number of 8th birthdays Grin
DS mostly now watches Cartoon Network, it does my head in!

OhGodWhatTheHellNow · 23/03/2016 23:05

Rastamouse is so bad, the only children are the 'Lickle Orfins', why are there so many orphans ffs? The president is in a quasi-military uniform, no police, crime seems to be controlled by a freelance hit squad imposing arbritary punishments/restorative justice, it's clearly some sort of dodgy trouserless dictatorship, what the hell are they trying to say?

I may be over thinking this.

HungryHorace · 23/03/2016 23:18

Hey Duggee is bloody awesome. This week we reached the pinnacle of all 52 episodes recorded onto our EETV box!

I love the omelette badge the most I think.

MyAmDeryCross · 23/03/2016 23:23

Katy is annoying as fuck, Justin is disturbing in all of his incarnations.

Yes yes yes! What IS it with Tony Welch?

4 year old DD calls him "Elchie Watch" after mispronouncing his name when she was 2 and it kind of stuck. When we read the topsy and tim books, she will interrupt me to say with venom "Elchie Watch" and hit the page if it is a page he is on.
She also hits the TV when he comes on. I swear she never normally hits!
She has extended this now to calling things it, for example a too spicy piece of sausage is "an Elchie Watch sausage" and will be put to the side in disgust.

PrancingQueen · 24/03/2016 07:05

Hey Duggie is the best. Agree the Omelette badge is fab - just for what the chickens are watching on TV Grin
DS is currently into dinosaurs so Fatima's Prehistoric/Dinosaur Adventures are currently driving me to the edge of sanity.

Hey Duggie, hair badge, best thing on tv.

JJXM · 24/03/2016 07:40

I've mentioned this before - my DS who has ASD was filmed for an episode of Something Special in the autumn. As I was acting as chaperone for him, I spent all day with Justin. He was excellent with the children including one boy who was so overwhelmed that he had a complete meltdown and couldn't take part in filming - and yet they persisted and managed to get a little clip of him. Even though Justin and the team had been in school since 7.30 until 6 - he still did a meet and greet with the whole school and sang some songs with them.

I didn't notice any flirting with the mums - in fact some of them spent quite a lot of time practically stalking him! He's incredibly professional and tries to come up with different strategies to make it work with children who have significant difficulties.

SalemSaberhagen · 24/03/2016 07:44

I love the Hey Duggee superhero badge. They are all giving their superhero names and Roly gives his as Roly. Norrie tells hm he has to pick a different one do he jumps up, punches the air and shouts 'Stephen!' Grin
