AIBU to be disappointed that not every ( active ) member of MN has not taken part in the Olympic committee's trans policy poll thread?

It would take two minutes & you have 3 choices - support, protest. abstain.

What's stopping everyone taking part?

OP posts:
UndramaticPause · 29/01/2016 18:27

Is there a link?

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 29/01/2016 18:28

Yanbu
Well, you probably are bu, but i agree with you

poocatcherchampion · 29/01/2016 18:29

I hide every thread that includes the word of the day trans.

BackforGood · 29/01/2016 18:29

Up to you if you are disappointed or not - it's neither reasonable nor unreasonable.
However, this is hardly a major world issue for me. There are many, many, many unfair things happening in this world that we may consider wrong or an injustice, and this wouldn't feature amongst my top 100 concerns I shouldn't think.
Just because something may be a priority for you, it doesn't mean it is for the rest of the world (or MN)

EponasWildDaughter · 29/01/2016 18:30

Link please?

WorraLiberty · 29/01/2016 18:31

What's stopping everyone taking part?

As much as I eventually voted, I think what might be stopping people is that some of us are just sick to death of the whole subject of trans people.

It was done to death over Christmas so personally I avoid trans threads as much as possible.

tilliebob · 29/01/2016 18:31

I'm with Poocatcher and Backforgood. Saved me typing the same answers

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 29/01/2016 18:32

I do not take part in any thread discussing trans issues. They invariably descend into a bun fight and their are some truly small-minded posters who spoil an otherwise interesting discussion.

YANBU to wonder, but YABVU to post a thread chastising those who have chosen not to participate.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 29/01/2016 18:33

*there, not their Hmm

user7755 · 29/01/2016 18:33

What Annie said

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/01/2016 18:33

U to not put a link...

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 29/01/2016 18:36

I'm not interested and don't click on those threads and an OP like your's is worded makes me even less likely to.

SurferJet · 29/01/2016 18:37

Annie - I really do understand what you're saying but it required just a one word answer.
Yes I know in the great scheme of things this is probably 100th on most people's 'things to worry about' list - but we can't keep ignoring this issue we really can't.

OP posts:
Mrsmorton · 29/01/2016 18:38

Will it achieve anything?

WorraLiberty · 29/01/2016 18:40

Why don't you start a proper petition?

wickedlazy · 29/01/2016 18:41

Why not even bother linking to what you're referring to? Most of us who haven't voted didn't read thread to know there was a vote.

Yabu to be disappointed not all women care to discus trans issues online again

Claraoswald36 · 29/01/2016 18:41

I've posted on the thread but like other pp I'm not interested in the trans threads on here. I use mn because it's mainly women's issues. I don't think it's the place for trans activism but I guess it's all about invading women's spaces Sad

HookedOnHooking · 29/01/2016 18:42

What's the point?

BoneyBackJefferson · 29/01/2016 18:44

1/ MN is a big place

2/ Link?

BlueBlueBelles · 29/01/2016 18:44

Yup, with the others. I am not interested in any of the trans threads, and tbh also feel like the pp that it's "word of the day" like. All the gender and trans stuff at the moment is way OTT in my opinion so I'm staying far away from it all.

abbieanders · 29/01/2016 18:44

I didn't know there was one.

ToucheShay · 29/01/2016 18:44

Not interested in trans or if you are disappointed.

Hihohoho1 · 29/01/2016 18:44

No idea what you are on about.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 29/01/2016 18:45

I understand that this issue is important to you, SurferJet, but not everyone shares your opinion and your post to me is very patronizing and reads like you are once again chastising those who do not share your views.

I have never even noticed the thread you have mentioned so whether it required a one word answer or not is irrelevant.

Lucyccfc · 29/01/2016 18:45

We can't ignore it Surferjet - it's rammed down our throats at every opportunity. I am sick of people banging on about it.

I am a kind of live and let live type of person and am generally supportive of this kind of thing, but recently it's been total over-kill.

I ignore any trans threads now (I don't want to be referred to as CIS - it's bloody ridiculous). I also turn the radio station over and the TV if this topic is on.

I am more concerned with poor children, who have left war-torn countries and are now on their own at risk from traffickers. I am concerned about people who have had their benefits cuts due to having a spare bedroom which houses their disabled child's medical equipment.
