AIBU to be disappointed that not every ( active ) member of MN has not taken part in the Olympic committee's trans policy poll thread?

It would take two minutes & you have 3 choices - support, protest. abstain.

What's stopping everyone taking part?

Yep apologies for not linking - I'm on my phone but have very kindly asked the poll thread to link it for me.

What on earth difference will a poll on Mumsnet make? If you genuinely want to do something, start a petition on the Government's website.

PurportedFeminist · 29/01/2016 19:00

Yup, I avoid the trans threads now. Same people making the same arguments.

Not this time.

It's a huge number of women standing up for women's rights.

Doublebubblebubble · 29/01/2016 19:00

Also just to add. I also couldn't care less if they decided to let Barney the purple freaking dinosaur compete. Let people be who they want to be, stop telling people what to do, and get on with your lives peacefully - also, again I really don't care about the olympics its like watching beige paint dry

Claraoswald36 · 29/01/2016 19:01

I don't want men competing as women in the olympics.

However I want a yawn emoticon for trans threads trying to insist their issues should headline when actually they affect a tiny minority.

Riderontheswarm · 29/01/2016 19:01

I voted. However, I'm aware that it is really not that big an issue. I'm far more concerned about the welfare of the refugees, safety on the roads, the future of the NHS and poverty to name just a few important issues. Yabu.

BoneyBackJefferson · 29/01/2016 19:01

thanks for the link

bibbitybobbityyhat · 29/01/2016 19:01

I feel very strongly about the issue, voted, posted on the thread and read all of the comments and listened to the R4 segment and have had heated debates with dh about this - I still say this thread is absolutely awful.

StiickEmUp · 29/01/2016 19:02

I can't be arsed.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 29/01/2016 19:02

Biwi, i think the point was to gauge feeling without putting themselves 'out there' on a proper petition site (where people then get rape and death threats :( )

glenthebattleostrich · 29/01/2016 19:03

I've posted because I am tired of women's rights being chipped away at. People are trying to redefine what a woman is and if we don't start saying enough is enough we are going to loose all the rights we have won.

PurportedFeminist · 29/01/2016 19:03

Aw that's harsh bibbity.

OP is just passionate and trying to draw the thread to wider attention to make up for the fact that it didn't appear in trending presumably

YABVU to think that you can dictate how others should feel about an issue. There are lots of problems in the world which I feel passionately about but I don't berate MNetters who may not share those passions. Hmm

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/01/2016 19:09

MN is one of the very few places online that women are allowed to talk freely about this and not be shouted down. The media, including the BBC and The Guardian seem to editorially pro-trans and anti-women now. Say anything online and get called a TERF and threatened.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 29/01/2016 19:09

Sorry if you think I'm being harsh, but we can't have posters telling other posters which threads they should and shouldn't post on. That's just silly.

WinnieTheW0rm · 29/01/2016 19:10

"There are lots of problems in the world which I feel passionately about but I don't berate MNetters who may not share those passions."

Good post.

Vixxfacee · 29/01/2016 19:11

Bored of trans threads that's why.

WorraLiberty · 29/01/2016 19:11

It's a huge number of women standing up for women's rights.

It's just a thread on the internet though.

And not only can we not tell who is male or female, we also can't tell whether some people changed name and voted more than once.

If people feel so passionately about this, why not start a proper petition? Confused

PurportedFeminist · 29/01/2016 19:11

The suffragettes were famously a bit pushy too Smile

goodnightdarthvader1 · 29/01/2016 19:12

Don't see the point of the poll.

I'm also more concerned about feminist issues than trans issues.

lamiashiro · 29/01/2016 19:12

"There are lots of problems in the world which I feel passionately about but I don't berate MNetters who may not share those passions."

This.
