AIBU to be disappointed that not every ( active ) member of MN has not taken part in the Olympic committee's trans policy poll thread?

I don't know what petition you're referring to, but if there's a link I'll take a look.

I avoid any threads on MN to do with trans issues though, because they invariably lead to bun fights and arguments, and the overuse of 'cis', which I hate. I am live and let live, and would never judge someone on how they choose to live. The issue has been done to death though.

IAmPissed, nobody hectored you and in fact one post was incredibly thoughtful.

If anyone is wondering, the thread is still there to be read. All you will see is a handful of people asking IAmPissed to share their reasoning. Because noone has shared reasoning as to why it is a good idea yet.

I won't be doing it. Every time I read 'trans' I switch off to it and think of something more interesting, like defrosting the freezer.

I think people are seeing trans and thinking its a trans issue. Its not, its a womens issue. (And there will be no cissing!)

There are lots of problems in the world which I feel passionately about but I don't berate MNetters who may not share those passions.

But I still don't really see the point and I see even less point in a thread like this because it does come across as patronising, even if that wasn't the OP's intention.

I didn't sign it because I don't care about it very much, don't think I have the technical knowledge to understand the issues, and don't think MN is somewhere you can have a sensible, nuanced debate about it.

If that's BU then I am happy to set up camp in the unreasonable corner.

Badly worded, slanted and there for biased terf wankery that makes me wish I could slam each and every hateful, exclusionary, byproduct of the kyriachy with the hateful words that trans women have to face everyday.

I've read the threads about it but I've missed the poll one. There's no point asking people who may have missed it to consider voting if you aren't going to route them to the poll.

Fwiw - I'm not interested in sport either. But I am interested in the future rights of women.

I have become extremely cautious about joining in with anything at all online - poll, petition, whatever - because I am concerned at the ephemeral quality of online outrage and fear signing up to something without thinking it through. So You've Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson is useful here, and i was on mumsnet when he got monstered here and his wife turned up. I felt ashamed.

The more unanimous it is, the more I worry. I am probably in the 'remove all separate categories and let everyone compete together' camp which appears to be a minority opinion, but one not specifically catered for by the poll.

I didn't vote because I have no opinion on it - I don't give a shiny shit about the issue.

Yep, I understand, I can read - still couldn't care less
