AIBU to be disappointed that not every ( active ) member of MN has not taken part in the Olympic committee's trans policy poll thread?

It would take two minutes & you have 3 choices - support, protest. abstain.

What's stopping everyone taking part?

You're NBU to be disappointed, as that is your personal reaction.

It's unrealistic to expect every MNetter to be interested in the same things, or to want to be canvassed when here for a chat.

And the wording of the poll seemed a bit loaded to me, so I do not want to take part.

Indeed, perhaps you should count all the no-shows you seem to be keeping tabs on as very active abstentions?

StitchesInTime · 29/01/2016 18:45

And is there a point to participating?

Other than finding out whether or not everyone on MN agrees or disagrees with you? Why not start a proper petition that policy makers might pay attention to instead?

Also, you didn't provide a link to the thread in question, so YABU for that.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 29/01/2016 18:46

Yabu!! FFS, who do you think you are? This is like being ticked off by the Headmistress.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/01/2016 18:46

It is quite interesting, I have never seen such an unanimous 'polling' thread on MN.

rosewithoutthorns · 29/01/2016 18:48

YABU. Why should everyone do it (whatever it is)

IoraRua · 29/01/2016 18:49

I've ignored it as it doesn't interest me. Simple. Count me in as an abstention, if you like.

Doublebubblebubble · 29/01/2016 18:49

What about if you literally couldn't care any less and I'm really really trying to care less here about the stupid sodding olympics!

TrappedInAWitchesCurse · 29/01/2016 18:50

YABU. I'm not at all interested in anything to do with sport.

60sname · 29/01/2016 18:50

YANBU be disappointed, or not.

YABU to
a) tell other people what to do and how to think
b) spam MN on this issue

BlueJug · 29/01/2016 18:52

I did but really I am fed up with it all.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 29/01/2016 18:52

I do think its a shame and see why its happened. People have gotten so tired of the whole thing that as they have said, they've started blanking any thread with "trans" in the title. So they have no way of knowing now the (at least 'seen', even if people on the other side are staying quiet) landslide of opinion change that has followed this change in olympic regulations.

I'll be honest worra, i was surprised to see you answered on it!! Grin

MadHattersWineParty · 29/01/2016 18:52

God, I feel like in being chastised for not completing an assignment.

I did not know there was such a poll.

Palomb · 29/01/2016 18:52

I would imagine 99.8% of sensible, normal folk are so far past peak trans they hide every thread about it.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 29/01/2016 18:53

Yabu. That is all.

ewbank · 29/01/2016 18:53

I can't be arsed and I don't care.

There's your answer Smile

Where is this poll? Don't have a go at me matey. How about providing a link!.
BTW yabu to assume your priorities are the same as everyone else's.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 29/01/2016 18:56

Can i just ask those here who are peak-trans-threads (whether sick of the issue being raised on here, or just the 'usual' peak-trans) and have avoided the threads, are you aware of the change in olympic regulations? It hasnt been in news sources much, is why i ask

TrojanWhore · 29/01/2016 18:57

"but we can't keep ignoring this issue we really can't"

Yes we can.

Lack of response is proof.

I don't see the point in polling threads.

I have been yawning inwardly at the whole trans thing for ages as most of dd's friends now seem to identify as trans which is utter bollocks. It is hugely detracting from the struggle of people who are actually trans.

Out of dd's friends there is one who I genuinely believe is and this person has been living life as a man for a few years now.

Of the truly trans people out there how many of them are Olympic standard athletes?

DurhamDurham · 29/01/2016 18:58

The result won't bother me either way so didn't see the need.

Pigeonpost · 29/01/2016 18:58

Yup, I avoid the trans threads now. Same people making the same arguments.
