to think that Cilla Black wasn't as perfect as she is made out to be

According to her son, Cilla Black died laughing at Jeremy Kyle and drinking champagne.

As someone that was supposed to have remembered " where she came from" there are so many anecdotes about what a diva she was. From the way she treated cabin crew, to the time she showed no empathy to the family of a motorcyclist her son had killed in a crash (she was more worried about if he would go to prison) this is just another example of how she saw herself as being above the rest.

Laughing at people who obviously have issues, be it in relationships or in life in general isn't pleasant. I just don't get the public fawning over her when she sounds like an unpleasant person. Perhaps it is just another case of celebrity worship.

and - she's not up for a sainthood so does it matter?

Janeymoo50 · 22/12/2015 15:32

Oh Behave will you.....none of us knew her (I often laugh at JK), plus I heard from cabin crew that she was petrified of flying hence why she was highly strung on board flights.

Aeroflotgirl · 22/12/2015 15:34

Nobody is perfect. I don't think she was claiming to be. Where did you get that information from, or is just here say.

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 22/12/2015 15:34

Drinking alcohol whilst watching JK is actually pretty sad.

That's how she died? Drunk at (not sure what time JK is on) 9am? That's a desperate ending.

FadedRed · 22/12/2015 15:34

Nobody's perfect.

B33rTricksPott3r · 22/12/2015 15:35

Laughing at Jeremy Kyle? That's what it's there for, isn't it?

TheHiphopopotamus · 22/12/2015 15:36

She was a person. If people want to believe she was fabulous it doesn't matter

True. And I can't help loving a good diva (man or women). I boggle at their behaviour and yet can't help having a sneaking admiration for someone who obviously does not give two hoots.

Aeroflotgirl · 22/12/2015 15:36

Very distasteful op!

StillDrSethHazlittMD · 22/12/2015 15:38

The studio audience laugh at half the stuff that goes on on the Kyle Show, so why the hell shouldn't the audience at home?

And as she was abroad at the time, one suspects she probably wasn't watching it at 9.25am as we might, but at another hour entirely. It's often shown on ITV2 around "teatime" and sometimes late at night too.

TheWitTank · 22/12/2015 15:38

She didn't claim to be perfect. Far from it. She was a human being with quirks and faults just like everyone else. I wasn't a fan, but she hasn't done anything terrible and you seem to be gleaning a lot of your info from newspapers and gossip. My friend has had so much utter made up bollocks about her life written about in magazines and papers, literally just total rubbish that has not a whiff of truth or fact. It's what sells!

Funinthesun15 · 22/12/2015 15:39

No one is perfect.

My DSis has worked with some of the 'famous' people that I've seen threads on here going about how wonderful they are, whilst in reality they aren't all sweetness and light

lizzydrippingsghost · 22/12/2015 15:39

i dont know much about her to be honest, i just dont get all the hype about her when she died and theres a programme on christmas day about her.
she had 1 or maybe 2 -s- hit records and became a tv preseter.

SirChenjin · 22/12/2015 15:40

I don't know....I don't think that she was made out to be perfect, but she certainly built her image on the Liverpudlian girl next door made good - with the less nice stuff brushed under the carpet in case it tainted that image. She's not the only one to do that though - it's all PR innit?

Shutthatdoor · 22/12/2015 15:40

Not sure what you want out of this thread OP

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 22/12/2015 15:40

Your thread is in poor taste.

Who knows whether or not she was a bitch, her Son is reminiscing about his Mother and how she was before she died.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/12/2015 15:41

No famous person is perfect. Because no person is perfect.

I shudder to think what the media could dredge up about me if I got famous. And I'm lovely.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/12/2015 15:44

The studio audience laugh at half the stuff that goes on on the Kyle Show, so why the hell shouldn't the audience at home

The only times I have watched JK, what has been happening on stage is sad rather than funny Hmm

It's pretty distasteful having a TV show thats sole purpose is to put disadasvantaged people up on stage, create conflict, and then judge them (or laugh at them, going by some of the comments on here).

Ohbehave1 · 22/12/2015 15:45

Laughing at those on Jeremy Kyle is in poor taste in my opinion. As is not showing one iota of compassion for a family who last a father and husband.

I just find it laughable that the perfect working class woman was really far from it.

Seems the Cilla fan club are in today - I shall back away slowly....

This thread is in very poor taste. For that alone YABU.

wasonthelist · 22/12/2015 15:47

I never forgave her for supporting Thatcher.

CherryPits · 22/12/2015 15:49

Who cares? The woman is dead.

And her son is not a reliable source of information. He became her agent, she stuck him in a shed at the end of her garden, he was terrible at the job and she fired him.

i had the great misfortune to have to speak to him on the phone about her appearing on a TV show once and he was the creepiest of creeps ever.

I lived near where she lived in the UK (certainly not down town Liverpool ). She was like any of us are - good days and bad. I heard tales of her being a bit high and mightily in shops but I also heard a very sweet story of her being in a local restaurant alone and her asking another lone diner if they would like to share a table for them both to have a bit of company. The other lone diner was thrilled.
