To wish I lived in Gavin & Stacey?

I'm poorly so on the sofa watching Gavin & Stacey.

I love it. I wish my family and DH's family were like that. The one where they order the Indian takeaway and the Christmas one always make me think it looks so cosy!

What TV show would you 'live' in??

Agree that Larry Lamb has always been gorgeous. I fancied him like mad in Triangle.

The only downside of the G&S love in this house is that my DH now calls me "Sugar Tits" which I refuse to respond to.

laffymeal · 15/10/2015 17:17

Just remembered another favourite scene...Stacey practising for an interview with her Mum and Bryn and they're absolutely horrible to her, bringing up her 5 failed engagements. I literally weep with laughter every time I watch it.

NicoleWatterson · 15/10/2015 17:19

But I can guarantee Pete's already eyeing up my bhunas?

CalliopeTorres · 15/10/2015 17:20

'Fags and weed, glue and speed. But I draws the line at crack'

NuggetofPurestGreen · 15/10/2015 17:32

'He had to get out the aloe vera'

'Allo Vera!!'

Strokethefurrywall · 15/10/2015 17:43

"I can't believe I gt pregnant by him, of all the people I've slept with. Not Nigel havers, not John Prescott, not any of Goldie Lookig Chain. No, some nob head from Essex!"

LittleMissAIBU · 15/10/2015 17:45

I love G&S but again more for the supporting characters.

I love the bit where Nessa says to Gwen about being like a mother to her just as she is going to the wedding, so sweet.

We went to Barry Island and Nessa's slots, loved seeing where it was filmed!

NuggetofPurestGreen · 15/10/2015 17:49

I burned my thumb taking a tray out of the fine the other dah with a tea towel. I immediately thought of Gavin and Smithy's sage advice...

CleverPlansAndSecretTricks · 15/10/2015 17:53

Anyone else always have a look for "Jamdarnehash" on a curry house menu? I've never found it Grin

That bit where Stacey gets a letter from her dad on the way to her wedding made me cry when I was pregnant.

I love it. It makes me feel all warm and cosy.

I don't have a family or in laws like that. Or hilarious Uncles.

I love watching them. Always makes me chuckle.

It makes me sad to think how they have all turned out ow. james and Matt allegedly don't speak.

I come from a small seaside town and it's the same as Barry. Everyone knows everyone else and their business good or bad.

It gives me the warm and cuddly feelings.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 15/10/2015 18:07

That makes me cry everytime CleverPlans and I'm not pregnant!

I love that oven gloves bit Wizard it sums up exactly what I love about the show. That's exactly what real people talk about!

treehousethunderstorm · 15/10/2015 18:23

If anyone is ever having two of anything DH and I will comment in the style of 'you know Pam, two steaks Pam' Grin

Groovee · 15/10/2015 18:24

Whatever happened to Simon from Gary and Simon. I love Deano too. Can I have a toffee or a kea

CakeNinja · 15/10/2015 18:31

O bama
O sama
Grin

Brilliantly written observant comedy, loved it but third series was a bit weak I thought.
Loved the mint baileys blowing uncle bryns mind, and when Gav nearly ordered him a cinzano but he declined jn favour of a pint as he was "out with the lads", only to end up a wreck outside a club Grin

ARockNRollNerd · 15/10/2015 18:55

Well. That's me digging out the DVDs once DD is in bed tonight! Grin

Dowser · 15/10/2015 19:11

Not from Wales but feel like I grew up on Barry Island as my welsh family were straight out of Gavin and Stacey and we visited every year, even before Butlins moved in and hived off half the beach.

For example one day we all decided to meet up in Margam park about an hour away. This was before mobile phones.so we rang my cousins house. Yes, that's ok, all ready all going.

So we rang my aunties house where my parents were staying. Yes, they were all ready , all going. So we set off and that's right me , exh and three children were the only ones to get there.

We could have gone to any park in Cardiff but no, we went an hours drive just for the kids to play in a park with not a lot there at the time.

Don't know what happened to the plans but like the Tom jones song...it was not unusual.!

WorryingAboutMum · 15/10/2015 19:14

One line that makes me laugh is when Smithy is talking about killing himself when "Lucy" finishes with him.

"How many ibuprofen would it take to finish me off?"

"You? A lot!"

"Well, I can't afford that can I? Not if I'm gonna have a holiday this year."

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 15/10/2015 19:21

I'd like to live in the big bang theory and be another geeky girl.

InQuiteAPickle · 15/10/2015 19:21

I love the Christmas special. It's not Christmas until I've watched it!

When Pete's mum pops up from behind the bar.
"Hello Mrs. Shipman. It's Christmas 2008, Gordon Brown is the Prime Minister..."

"She's not been in a coma!"

1AngelicFruitCake · 15/10/2015 19:22

I love Pam and all the things she says. Like 'think not I'll of me my child' Stacey 'What?!' Pam 'Forsake me not' Stacey'I don't really know what you're saying'
All that over Pam eating ham!

Love Dawn and Pete. Me and Dh often say 'You vicious little pig!' in Dawn's voice! Could go on and on!

InQuiteAPickle · 15/10/2015 19:23

I love Pam but I reckon she'd be a nightmare MIL.

WalfordEast · 15/10/2015 19:23

This is bizarre, because im actually watching it on netflix right now.

Shock
1AngelicFruitCake · 15/10/2015 19:23

'Think not ill of me my child'

InQuiteAPickle · 15/10/2015 19:25

We were just watching it on Netflix too! Despite the fact that we have the whole lot on DVD (too lazy to get off our arses and put the DVD in and Netflix is just a remote click away Grin ).
