To wish I lived in Gavin & Stacey?

I'm poorly so on the sofa watching Gavin & Stacey.

I love it. I wish my family and DH's family were like that. The one where they order the Indian takeaway and the Christmas one always make me think it looks so cosy!

What TV show would you 'live' in??

I love the recurring "Done. Romeo Dunn" because it's such a bloody obscure joke Grin

I've never watched it as it looks unbearable from the ads... Is it not then?

MyGastIsFlabbered · 15/10/2015 16:39

I quite often find myself saying 'thank you very much' to the sat nav these days.

laffymeal · 15/10/2015 16:42

Mature for Midge Ure cracks me up and Pam describing Phillip Seymour Hoffman as "the big strawberry blonde fella from patch Adams", so daft.

Katinkka · 15/10/2015 16:43

I didn't think I'd like it either standing but I gave it a whirl one day and found it quite endearing and funny. Definitely worth watching.

squoosh · 15/10/2015 16:45

standinginthedoorway Gavin and Stacey themselves are utterly twee and boring, all the laughs come from the supporting cast. It's more of an ensemble piece anyway.

Wizadora1 · 15/10/2015 16:48

We love gavin and stacey in our house!
We regularly ask if speeding drivers think they are on the autobahn and describe ourselves as carol boarderman.
I love the scene when they are all drunk and dancing to the house of fun.

Don't mind if I do, don't mind if I don't!!

squoosh · 15/10/2015 16:53

Pam has a great cackle!

MetallicBeige · 15/10/2015 16:54

I love Bryn singing along to James Blunt in the car. Grin

MetallicBeige · 15/10/2015 16:55

"Nessa, you look gorgeous"

"I know, I feels it".

Grilledaubergines · 15/10/2015 16:57

I love the bit where pete's poor mum has been asleep behind the bar and is only discovered on Christmas Day.

And when they're all having breakfast at pam and mick's and can hear Gavin and Stacey shagging. Pam cranks the radio up and starts dancing to "relight my fire".

Grilledaubergines · 15/10/2015 16:57

metallic I was just thinking of the same scene. Brilliantly done, dead pan face!

Oh I love G&S!

Particular fave is when Bryn is singing "Something Inside So Strong" in church, and Doris missing the beat on the drum each time. And the episode with the line dancing. Oh, and when Nessa and Stacey go to wedding in the trailer "It's alright, I have a bean bag"

I liked the line dancing scene. And when Doris forgot the salad. And Doris' exchanges with Griff. And all the boys in Oceana.

My fave episode other than the Christmas ep, was the one in the Italian restaurant. Comedy gold, with great acting. Least favourite was the one where G and S were apart temporarily because there was too much of them (my two least favourite characters) and not enough of the others.

squoosh · 15/10/2015 17:07

'I'm not stupid Gwen, she's repaying me a pound a week, I'll be a hundred and four by the time the debt's repaid!'

'Leave her come up to me as she undoubtedly will and say:

'Oh, Dor, where's the salad?'

and I'll say:

'Oh, Fatty, where's my cash?'

squoosh · 15/10/2015 17:07

x post with scarlets!

wineoclockthanks · 15/10/2015 17:10

Totally showing my age here, but we used to go to a friends house at lunchtimes when in 6th Form to watch Larrry Lamb in Triangle - he was gorgeous then but has improved with age!

Counttheshadows · 15/10/2015 17:15

YANBU - I neeeed an Uncle Bryn in my life! (and possibly a Smithy Grin )

Strokethefurrywall · 15/10/2015 17:15

I'm laughing my arse off at my desk!

That moment when vanessa walked out the changing room in that pvc get up and said "I know. I feels it" was the moment I knew that Gavin and Stacy would be watched over and over.

Comedy gold!

"Thing to remember is don't go giving him nothing on the first night. Well no, not nothing. A kiss, a cuddle, a cheeky finger, just don't go selling the whole farm!" - that line out of sweet old lady Doris's mouth was amazing.
