To wish I lived in Gavin & Stacey?

I'm poorly so on the sofa watching Gavin & Stacey.

I love it. I wish my family and DH's family were like that. The one where they order the Indian takeaway and the Christmas one always make me think it looks so cosy!

What TV show would you 'live' in??

Oh yaSOnbu!

Bryn is our absolute favourite...if someone in our house goes shopping and gets more then they need or a complete bargain, they declare "I only went in for a NANO!" From bryn buying an iPod

They're all basically good, supportive, kind people. I can see why viewers warm to them. The Christmas special was one of the best episodes.

I went on the "Dave Coaches" tour in Barry Island with friends this summer. It was brilliant!
Not what you asked op, but thought I'd share!!

I AM a Barry girl :-)

Well I was until age 18 when I left for university and never really returned :-(

But I LOVE Gavin and Stacey - was living abroad when I first saw it and I loved the views of Barry Island thinking about the radio 1 roadshows and the fun fair. Ahhhh memories!

Funny that Gavin and Stacey are really a bit insipid. Their love story could have some very sweet moments but it doesn't really work. The high points of the programme inevitably feature Nessa, Smithy, Bryn and Mick.

Also ex Barry girl. I am sure I know someone who nessa was based on. The pp who said that Gavin and Stacey was filmed in Newport isn't quite true most of Gavin and Stacey was filmed in and around Barry, the vale of Glamorgan, penarth and Cardiff. Even some of the Essex bits were filmed in Wales. Still a fantastic show though

I meant the "Billericay" bits were filmed in Newport Muskey. Pam and Mick's house, at least.

I love the episode when everyone's excited about Mick being 'on the telly', then disappointed that he wasn't shown more - and it turns out it's because he discovered a body!

It's so tasteless yet so bloody true!

I worked with someone who absolutely crowed about meeting someone 'famous' that turned out to be someone accused of a terrible crime, found guilty and jailed but later overturned.

I want to be adopted by Pam and Mick. I would love to go there for Christmas.

Oh yes, I love that they're all gutted for him that his interview was cut down to 5 seconds Grin

DH and I LOVE Gavin & Stacy. Seriously love it. We live overseas so it is the next best thing to home for me honestly.

We dig the Christmas special out around the middle of November and rotate between that and Love Actually (interspersed with Elf and Miracle on 34th Street) to get us in the festive spirit.

The Christmas special really encapsulated everything about my family Christmasses growing up. Just brilliantly written.

And Pam. Bloody fantastic. She had so many fantastic one-liners but I'd have shot myself if she was my mum - "oh give it a rest you leek munching sheep shagger!"

Gavin and Stacey is pure genius. I have seen them all so many times and I still laugh out loud.
I am also from Billericay (waves to driver ) so it's got a special place in my heart!

Stacey was a bit annoying and Nessa was horrible to Gwen most of the time, but yes, the love does come through and Smithy and Gavin do seem really good friends.( Its a shame they both fell out in real life if the papers are true)
I love Mick and Pam - but Alison Steadman is so good in anything she is in. Uncle Bryn is my favourite though, he is weird and silly at the same time. when nessa and Smithy go on about food ' is it a proper bar be que or not?' so funny! when Nessa introduced her baby to someone ' this is dave, he is a baby' .. i just crack up. ( doesn't take much, obviously)
i would love to be part of either family.

I like the breakfast scene where Gavin and Stacey are shagging and they try to cover it up by singing take that.

Actually I love the whole thing and would love to see where 'they' all are now. It ended perfectly but I still want more!

What DID happen on the fishing trip?!

Dawn and Pete make me laugh the most, that ring he has for the wedding Grin

And my favourite scene ever is the one where Gavin and Stacey are buying pregnancy tests and Stacey's enemy works in the chemist, the one whose Dad and Brother Nessa beat up. My exes family are all Welsh and that scene is just so perfectly done, I have actually seen my ex MIL speak to people she dislikes like that.

I think my favourite Gavin and Stacey bits are when Smithy, Gav and Mick are singing the john Barnes rap bit of the England song and they falter toward the end and out comes Pam with the rest of the words. Sheer brilliance. And when Smithy and Rudy ring Gav to sing Estelle 'American Boy' down the phone. Braaaap brap. Boom boom Grin

Aw it's so good isn't it, so cosy!

I love the bit where Smithy rings Gavin singing Do They Know It's Christmas and when Gavin joins in Smithy goes 'Yes!' Such a small moment but he's so pleased Grin

And the bit in the pub where Gavin doesn't want chips. And Smithy 'Just put his chips on my plate. Don't just put a few extra on top, I'll know. I want TWO actual portions'.

So good.

I hate Dave Coaches Angry

Would love to know what actually happened on the fishing trip!

I laughed so much when they had that song 'Suddenly' off Neighbours at the wedding. Brilliant Grin
What the hell did happen on that fishing trip? Defied gravity? Confused

I love the way they all feel like real people with lives going on away from the bits we see. Often things and people which are never relevant to the plot are talked about just because that's the way real people talk.

My favorite episode is the start of series two where they're all in the Italian restaurant, and almost everyone bar Brin and Smithy end up in the ladies loo learning about Nessa being pregnant and Smithy being the father.

Dawn and Pete's wedding where she's reading out the lyrics to Ben makes me snort with laughter.

'Pete, you're always running here and there..'
