DH's birthday is in September and I booked a trip away for us in Cornwall for four nights.

I booked the flights and then the hotel through a website which said I could book now and pay later but I obviously didn't read the fine print very closely and the money has all gone out.

I now have NO money until Friday.

Sigh. And I know, I know, it's my fault, but ...

As someone else said, this is the time to use any Tesco, Sainsbury etc loyalty card points. At least they should cover food and maybe some treats.
Have you got anything to sell on local FB selling sites? Toys go well on ours, perhaps ds could be persuaded to part with some old things for a day out?
Clothes can go well too.

WorraLiberty · 08/08/2015 11:56

Tbh if it's only a case of not being able to do something with your child for the next 5 or 6 days that costs money, there are plenty of things you can do at home.

I get how you're feeling annoyed with yourself though, but it'll soon be Friday again.

pinktrufflechoc · 08/08/2015 12:16

I'm overdrawn because I had £670 taken from my account when I didn't expect it Smile

I know Worra. I just feel guilty as I've hardly done a thing this holiday as recently had DD2. We live VERY rurally and I am currently unable to drive so reliant on buses and I know he's bored and prone to getting moody and disinterested.

There are free things to do in town but I can't get there.

MyPelvicFloorTrainsItself · 08/08/2015 12:42

Well I'm sure when you're on you're hols it will be worth a few days of being bored Wink

pinktrufflechoc · 08/08/2015 12:45

Maybe, it's not for another month though Smile

seastargirl · 08/08/2015 12:54

Is he old enough to start making holiday plans? You could get looking on the internet, print things out that you want to do, plan routes around theme parks? Do a mood board type thing. Might fill up half a day and helps to explain why you've no money!

Tesco have there clubcard boost event running which can help towards doing things.

Search all bags, pockets, sofa for change and even kids money boxes, you can pay it back, or if he's old enough he could be encouraged to treat you? I remember finding 20 quid in pound coins in my hospital bag from having baby, I'd put it in there for the car park and phone but never used it!

pinktrufflechoc · 08/08/2015 12:59

Unfortunately and this doubles my guilt, he isn't coming! So I can't talk about the brilliant holiday he won't be going on ... Salt into the wound!

thecatsarecrazy · 08/08/2015 13:25

How can you make those bubbles with no money? I was interested untill I heard the ingredients glycerine??

Ah bugger yes you are an idiot, but a completely understandable one too, it's just the sort of cock up that's easily made, then the fact Its
Your Own Fault makes it all 10 times worse.

Forget the bubbles and let DS make Potion, you don't need glycerine then :)

pinktrufflechoc · 08/08/2015 15:51

MrsD - am now at the end of the OD limit.

OP how much did you originally think you would have for this week? So they've taken ~£670 out of your account, how much did you think they would take out? Just trying to work out the shortfall

EygptianSnow · 08/08/2015 16:09

Total bummer dude

pinktrufflechoc · 08/08/2015 16:09

There's plenty of money in the joint account, but I want to keep the holiday a surprise for his birthday you see!

Blardy that money was mostly for the rest of the month really but I get a small amount every week. So I'll be ok on Friday. Just cross with myself!

woowoo22 · 08/08/2015 16:25

There's plenty of money in the joint account? Use the joint account?

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 08/08/2015 16:27

I'm a bit confused now.

First you say you have no money at all until next Friday, now you say there is plenty of money in the joint account.

The trip was a surprise for DH, but then you say he's not going. Now you still want to keep it a surprise for his birthday, that's why you can't use money the in joint account - why is it still a surprise, if he's not going? Confused

ReginaFelangi · 08/08/2015 16:28

That son isn't going.

ReginaFelangi · 08/08/2015 16:28

*the

ReginaFelangi · 08/08/2015 16:29

(Honestly, it's the first line of the OP.)

DH's birthday is in September and I booked a trip away for us in Cornwall for four nights.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 08/08/2015 16:30

Oh, ok - thanks Regina!
Still - just use money in the joint account. OP is not destitute, as she's made us all believe.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 08/08/2015 16:32

Err yes, thanks. The first line of the OP says she has booked a trip away for us in Cornwall for four nights. How would anyone reading that understand that the DS is not going?

pinktrufflechoc · 08/08/2015 16:33

I can't just help myself to the money in the joint account.

I was not however trying to give an impression of destitution - just annoyance (with myself.)

G1veMeStrength · 08/08/2015 16:33

If OP uses money from joint account it will ruin the surprise. I didn't get the impression she's destitute just that she's got to have a v frugal week and annoyed with herself about the timings of the money going out. As I would be.
