I mean are they beyond the valley of acceptability upon a stylish foot? Ever?

Two questions:

Why are they called hotter? That is a complete oxymoron.

Why are they so expensive? How can it cost that much to make shoes so horrid?

nigelslaterfan · 21/07/2015 10:55

Cocolepew, my podiatrist told me I had Plantar fasciitis and only when I started wearing really supportive shoes and also she had made some orthotics to put in my shoes, did I start to get better.

I was in so much pain. Years of wearing unsupportive shoes and living in flip flops etc every summer, did a lot of damage to my already fairly rubbish feet, they collapse a bit and I have nay arches to support my great fat Ass.

Being heavier does make it worse too.

My mum just got some, apparently my face said it all when she asked if I liked them. They look better on than on the shelf in the shop. They are apparently very comfy though.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/07/2015 10:57

only - is think a knowing nurse would wear shoes like the photo

Not those ones. Unless the nurse was working on a chiropody ward.

I have two pair. I have a disability and my physiotherapist advised them. Mine aren't frumpy really, and I also wear Birkenstocks. I'm only 35.

babsmam · 21/07/2015 10:59

Sorry wrong thread. Blush
I will be back later though re sizes

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 21/07/2015 11:00

Some of these heels perfectly nice in a 40s/50s retro style ^^www.hotter.com/gb/en/womens-heels^^

littlejohnnydory · 21/07/2015 11:01

My computer is full of hotter ads now too!

puddymuddles · 21/07/2015 11:02

The only ones that are not awful are the high heeled ones like this

www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=IBiuVdK7FceEoAewt6SACA#q=hotter+sandals&tbm=shop&spd=10118811572807100692

and I can't walk in high heels. The rest I would not wear. My Mum wears this type of shoe but she is nearly 80

ouryve · 21/07/2015 11:07

They do 3 widths for women. Standard, extra wide and the ones that actually fit me but only come in the frumpy ( even by my standards) styles in beige.

Winter is a lot easier than summer. I have some killer camel active boots that I can put an orthopaedic insole in.

tiktok · 21/07/2015 11:13

I have terrible feet (actually it's my ankles that hurt) and I have tried hotter - they are comfortable but I just could not get past the horrid designs. Some of the heels are sort of ok, but I can't wear heels. Their flats are truly terrible - someone posted that it's the moulded soles that look awful and I think that's it.

I wear Mephistos - I have a couple of pairs of boots which are ok, and some sandals, but I am not in love with the sandals. I bought a pair of 'court shoes' from them in the hope I might manage a heel, but no good. Most of their designs are no better than hotter, anyway.

There is definitely a gap in the market for shoes that really are stylish and which people can wear despite foot problems. I don't mind paying extra - I have a cupboard-full of shoes I can hardly wear, so I'd be happy to pay a higher price for shoes I can wear without thinking about them.

TalcAndTurnips · 21/07/2015 11:20

I too am now being stalked by Hotter shoes across the Internet.

I was on my local newspaper website just now and a pair of beige Velcro sandals were eyeing me suspiciously from the side bar (of no shame = local news only, no bikini-clad Towie stars).

I'm not answering the door or phone now. They know where I live.

Confused

Shock

Yes! Hotter are bullying my mother with a constant avalanche of catalogues!

tiktok, you are so right. There is a gap for some aggressive orthopaedic Pedifashion

I would be so excited if someone could manufacture stylish really comfy shoes in varying heel heights.
I bought my hotter sandals in desperation when hobbling round a large city on a shopping trip. I had one really nice pair of sandals by Fly London-they were expensive though and have now died.Sad

bilbodog · 21/07/2015 12:48

look at FARTY SHOES by Hey Dude and Toms shoes - all flat but I like them and amazingly comfortable.

MaxPepsi · 21/07/2015 13:03

I don't have any hotter sandals but I do wear their boots. turned 40 this year

If you want comfort and style may I suggest Pavers and Bellisamo ....made by the same people as hotter as I believe but much more attractive.

Hush puppies are also a god send.

I too have plantar fasciitis but I wear heels and flip flops and everything in between. Mine is a comes and goes problem, not an ongoing one.

ExConstance · 21/07/2015 13:24

Awful, even my mother who is 89 complains they are the only safe comfortable shoes she can find.

Aeroflotgirl · 21/07/2015 13:37

I was just browsing the Sholl website, and their sandals and footwear are lovely. They look both comfy and stylish. Hotter on the other hand just has that 1970/80 old lady look about them, even when they try to look stylish.

Aeroflotgirl · 21/07/2015 13:39

I wish scholl did more shoes, they are more sandals/flip flop people

paxtecum · 21/07/2015 13:42

I love Mephisto All rounders.
Can walk all day in them, but they are about ?100.00
They do last for years.

Ragwort · 21/07/2015 13:49

Do people really care about other people's opinions so much? Hmm And if my DH dared to comment on whether or not I wore a certain brand of shoe I would use said shoe to kick him where it hurts. Grin.

Just be comfortable - I work in a job where I have to stand all day - I really don't care what my shoes look like so long as I am comfortable. No wonder so many young people are obsessed with 'fitting in' - if so many women / men think the same about appearance.

PrimalLass · 21/07/2015 14:00

They are all awful, and look like they come from the little catalogues that fall out of the Sunday papers.

Cocolepew · 21/07/2015 14:33

The Scholl ones look like some of the Hotter ones .

Cocolepew · 21/07/2015 14:35
