I mean are they beyond the valley of acceptability upon a stylish foot? Ever?

Earth Spirit are very confy

DidoTheDodo · 21/07/2015 14:50

Last winter I bought a pair of boots from Moshulu, as I was despairing of finding anything comfortable for my feet, ever.

They were so comfortable (like slippers; I wore them every day until the sun came out) I bought a second pair exactly the same in the sale.

At 67 l have just discovered Padders. They are old lady shoes but for someone who broke just about every bone in her foot a while ago they are wonderful. Their slippers relax my poor lumpy toes so that nothing hurts. I have just bought three more pairs at very reasonable prices from amazon. Delivered today and perfect.

Well I've just bought a pair of Hotter sandals & I'm not going to tell you which ones as you will all take the piss :)

Not looking forwards to the shame of having the catalogue in my wall mounted post box, possibly peeping out so all the neighbours can see. Let's hope its eclipsed by the Boden catalogue & not the Cotton Traders one which I inexplicably get........

TongueBiter · 21/07/2015 17:21

Coco I've seen Earth Spirit sandals in ShoeZone!

Cocolepew · 21/07/2015 17:29

Oh have you? I must have a look!

TOADfan · 21/07/2015 17:43

I'm 25 and love them.

I'm all about comfort in my shoes, pants and bras.

suzannecanthecan · 21/07/2015 17:50

is there are shift, are women increasingly rejecting uncomfortable shoes in favor of foot and body friendly styles?

DoeEyedNear · 21/07/2015 17:55

I have a pair of earth spirit shoes and they are very comfy

I got them in an outlet village

Devora · 21/07/2015 18:03

Comfy, pain-free feet are definitely a feminist issue Smile

TheWernethWife · 21/07/2015 18:55

I have 3 pairs of Hotters - Nirvana, Shake and Dizzy, they are so comfy. Not for old ladies at all.

annandale · 21/07/2015 19:44

I have adjusted to some extent, in that when I see models with all their foot tendons standing out in an effort to keep their badly designed, ill fitting shoes on, or their feet slumped to the front of heels which are slightly too large, feet all blotchy because they've been on an outdoor photoshoot with bare feet (because obviously wearing warm foot covering is impossible), awkward posture because they're in 120mm heels etc, I do now think they just look terrible, much worse than a pair of Hotters tbh.

noeffingidea · 21/07/2015 20:31

I think a lot more women are wearing flat comfy shoes now, at least for daytime. I suppose it's different for a night out though
Yes it can be a feminist issue. Most of us dress to please ourselves nowadays rather than men. Not that wearing high heels means that you're not a feminist of course, some women are really into high heels as fashion items.

suzannecanthecan · 21/07/2015 21:28

Indeed Annandale, heels may look sexy, but bad posture doesnt look all that sexy so it's swings and roundabouts really....isnt it?

BeaufortBelle · 21/07/2015 21:38

I'd wear them - comfort is everything. Hoiks up big knickers Grin

LarrytheCucumber · 21/07/2015 21:48

I have Clarks Blush.
Had some really good Earth Spirit ones, but the ones I have now are not very comfortable.

Babymamamama · 21/07/2015 22:01

My mother and grandmother both love them and they are indeed pensioners. Hope I'm quite a long way off wearing them!

DMCWelshCakes · 21/07/2015 22:16

I love my purple suede Hotter Valletta's. I get lots of compliments about them too.

You just need to pick your style carefully.

daftbesom · 21/07/2015 22:17

babs not sure what to say about sizing, I vary between a 7.5 and an 8 in most brands depending on the style so I really need to try shoes on.

Re how well they last, I am a fairly recent convert (bought my first pair in January and they are fine but that's no more than I would expect of a pair of shoes!) - the leather seems quite robust so I am hopeful.

TheWernethWife · 21/07/2015 22:24

Boundary Mill in Colne sell Hotters at reduced prices - end of lines etc

muminhants1 · 22/07/2015 08:00

I wear Hotter sandals and have done for years, I buy a new pair each year and rotate about three colours of them. They are really comfortable and look fine with trousers (somewhat granny-ish with skirts, it's true - if anyone can recommend comfortable sandals that look good with skirts and are suitable for lots of walking please let me know!).

Flip-flops are ghastly (not Fitflops, I use them as slippers) and if I was in charge of my office dress code, I would not allow them as I think they look really unprofessional. Fine for beaches and swimming pools.

CuttedUpPear · 22/07/2015 08:37

I'm wearing cream skinny jeans with the ankles rolled up and my Hotter white plimsolls. It looks great! And I walked miles in them yesterday with no problems from my arthritis or bad back Smile

WellTidy · 22/07/2015 10:15

mum The M&S footglove wide fit gladiator style sandals that they do every year are good for walking. I bought three pairs last year, so I haven't needed to buy any this year, so I can't speak about that they currently sell. But they're fine (I have bunions and wide feet, despite being a 3 1/2).

BumpTheElephant · 22/07/2015 11:06

Well I'm in my twenties and would wear some of them if I could afford them
DH loves heels but I refuse to damage my feet for him so I normally wear superga or converse but do own a really ugly pair of Ecco shoes I bought for 20 quid when I was 19. They are the most comfortable shoe ever unfortunately they look like I'm wearing a couple of Gingsters steak slices on my feet
