Are 'Hotter' sandals just for Pensioners?

I mean are they beyond the valley of acceptability upon a stylish foot? Ever?

They seem to do standard and extra wide I think PurpleHair?

Check out the search bar menu at the side of the webpage as you can refine your search by width I think?

I'm actually wondering about a pair for my mum who has a hammer toe and struggles with finding comfy shoes with a small wedge for when she is dressed smartly to go out.

Didiusfalco · 21/07/2015 10:06

I think theyre called 'Shine' - In 'latte'. Free delivery at the moment too. I have high hopes for them, comfort-wise anyway!

morelikeguidelines · 21/07/2015 10:06

I had to look at their website to answer you, but there are some styles of shoe on there that look OK.

The sandals did look pretty ugly, but there is nothing to say you can't wear them.

I do think we have gone wrong a bit in life if we think our feet should be uncomfortable, and that comfy shoes are "just for pensioners". But I'm not sure I would wear any of the sandals I saw. I tend to wear flip flops as sandals myself, if that is relevant.

Salmotrutta · 21/07/2015 10:06

I'm an Ecco fan too Cocolepew - and Seibel as someone mentioned up thread!

I don't really do high heels as I think mostly they make me walk like a cart horse! Grin

morelikeguidelines · 21/07/2015 10:07

Also if they are very wide i couldn't wear them anyway as feet are very narrow. This presents it's own problems in life!

Cocolepew · 21/07/2015 10:12

Theres an Ecco shop in Belfast, I'm definitely going to see if they have the boots I linked to

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/07/2015 10:14

Oh. I thought you meant sandals beach resort and "hotter" was some kind of euphemism for swinging

I just settled down with a Brew and Biscuit for an interesting read!

Musculoskeletal problems brought on by wearing heels could potentially age you far more than wearing un stylish shoes

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 21/07/2015 10:30

Why are people so concerned about whether a brand is 'in' or not? Half of the shoe companies on the high street will be using the same factories in Bulgaria (or wherever) anyway. I know this for a fact. In an old job I had I researched the supply chains.

If a shoe is comfortable and stylish, wear it. I shake my head in disbelief at people who spend hundreds to have a red sole that no-one sees.

Hotter shoes can be lovely once you put aside your snobbery about branding. I wore a gorgeous suede pair for my wedding (I'm in my 30s), and unlike many brides, had comfortable feet all night!

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 21/07/2015 10:33

they are great for HCP's / people who spend hours and hours and hours on their feet. I wouldn't wear them outside of work though, they're not my style.

Whathaveilost · 21/07/2015 10:37

I have looked at every shoe link and there is not one pair of hotter shoes that I desire.

It has just reinforced to be me how ugly Hotter shoes are.

I am no where near considering them and I am 50 ( with a bloody huge bunion!)

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 21/07/2015 10:43

Actually, I lie. I would wear the honiton moccasin/loafer in red or tan. I think they'd look good, styled appropriately.

OnlyLovers · 21/07/2015 10:44

I like these and I'm 40. Is that beyond the pale?

Lilymaid · 21/07/2015 10:48

I'm probably old enough to qualify for Hotter and I have a pair of these for walking to work (when wearing trousers/black opaques) in the winter, but I'm shameless and not over fashion conscious.
I think Ecco shoes are better quality and have a pair of blue trainers like the ones Cocolepew shows. They last for years - and I've bought similar trainer type shoes from Ecco ever since they were first produced in the 70s.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/07/2015 10:49

only!!! No!!!! Are you taking the piss or do you mean in some kind of retro ironic fashion?!

WellTidy · 21/07/2015 10:50

Whathave, did you see my post at 9:01 this morning? Both of those pairs of sandals are perfectly acceptable imo. Where do you buy shoes (genuinely interested)? If you are nowhere near considering them despite your bloody huge bunion, then I am concluding that the bunion can't be interfering as much in your life as mine are in my life. My bunions are a real problem, and I am forced into buying form such a tiny range of shoes that I can manage to get my feet into. The two pairs of Hotter ones were a pleasant surprise tbh Smile

nigelslaterfan · 21/07/2015 10:51

Wore them on a long walk today, no cars tried to run me over.

dh did not see them, he cannot tolerate them and may try to bin them.

Soooooo comfortable.

You young lasses have never had foot trouble. But some of you will one day and when you do you will think back and think "ah, how little I understood their pain in their unattractive orthopaedic foot garb, now I know!"

Gobbolino, not taking the piss. Grin

I guess I do mean retro/ironic. I thought they looked a bit like very 'knowing' nurse's shoes, like white Birkenstocks do. Can imagine them with a simple, loose shirtdress or tunic.

I really like the colours of the orange ones. Don't like the others though.

babsmam · 21/07/2015 10:54

The sainsbury 25% on clothes in store is NOT on today. Will catch up later
