I mean are they beyond the valley of acceptability upon a stylish foot? Ever?

My Josef Seibels are called Tonga. I don't think you will like them :(

suzanneyeswecan · 25/07/2015 23:13

I like the Tonga alright Beau :)
especially the ones with the backstrap

but I'm hankering for some really nerdy jesus sandals (thats nerdy in the old fashioned sense when it wasnt cool :o )

BeaufortBelle · 25/07/2015 23:16

I have the backstrap ones. They are like heaven for feet, even very painful ones.

suzanneyeswecan · 25/07/2015 23:19

I'll draw up a shortlist, and then make a decision in a few weeks
I have to have rules and procedures to stop me buying too much stuff!

(sorry to hear you're suffering with your feet)

guineapig1 · 25/07/2015 23:19

In mid 30s and have a couple of pairs. First discovered when I complimented mil (semi-fashionable 69-something on hers a couple of years ago...

guineapig1 · 25/07/2015 23:20

Ok actually she is 70 + but would never ever admit it :-)

I like M&S foot glove sandals.. I bought some and changed my shoes in the shop (I had blisters! it was hot) but they are great!

I like the 60s vibe that comes from these, especially the buckle, but I quite like "pretty". I think they need to come in a neutral colour. They are sublimely comfortable. At first they didn't strike me a "Jesus" sandals but the more I look at them, the more they seem to fit that genre in a prettier sort of way than usual.

They really are comfortable and the adjustable straps and the back strap have been a life saver for my particular foot circumstances of late.

M&S footglove never seem to have sufficient arch support for plantar fasciitis sufferers. My go to makes are Seibel and Gabor mostly. I'm on the look out for a dainty(ish) lace up as we move into autumn - not the brogues that are everywhere and have a feeling that will be a challenge. I'll need something for Sept/Oct before I can slither into supportive boots for the late autumn/winter until I'm fully healed.

Hoping this link works better

CuttedUpPear · 26/07/2015 07:18

Rieker are amazing. After an operation on my ankle for arthritis, and with a slipped disc, I despaired of being able to walk properly again but I spent 6 months in Rieker lined wool ankle boots (which look great as well) and I am much, much better.
In fact I'm off to look for my next pair now as the winter boots were reduced recently. ...

noeffingidea · 26/07/2015 13:15

Found these online and thought they might be useful for someone with foot problems or wider feet. They seem a bit cheaper as well www.jdwilliams.co.uk/shop/cushion-walk/footwear/3//N-1z136reZ1ytvwfl/products/show.action?Nao=20&Rpp=10&=1437912705888&hnid=11117728&type=cmr

noeffingidea · 26/07/2015 13:27

Nah, forget that. They look hideous, lol.

KurriKurri · 26/07/2015 14:42

I have a pair - red flats (not on their website any more so can't show you a pic) they are very comfortable I am 55. I don't give a monkey's bum what anyone else thinks about them, I like them and I look fab in them obviously Grin

I hate having uncomfortable shoes - totally ruins going out if your feet hurt.

PrimalLass · 26/07/2015 15:12

I think my mum has just bought those BeaufortBelle. She's the sane age as Madonna though, not a pensioner Grin

BeaufortBelle · 26/07/2015 15:40

Similar age to me then Smile

PingPongBat · 26/07/2015 15:41

I have wide size 9s so really struggle to get shoes which are comfortable & stylish. These Danielle boots are the most comfy boots ever, even though they've got heels which normally crucify me. And I think they look pretty good.

BeaufortBelle · 26/07/2015 19:51

Not what I planned. Not what I would chose. And I really only could manage one shop - couldn't even get to Hotter to try on the purple/pink trainers spoken of so fondly. But, for the first time in 8 weeks, my darling foot is so cocooned and so supported I can walk without limping. My high instep anyway, without a bit of swelling kicked many more attractive things into touch - on one foot they were perfect - but sadly manked up broken/dashed tendon one was not having it.

So, here you go. No bad comments from the fashionistas. They will do for six weeks until I am in a better place. Vast improvement on a cast and a surgical boot btw.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/07/2015 19:57

Great! They are so much nicer than the ones I had to wear after my injury!

Snugglepiggy · 26/07/2015 20:15

Years of nursing and doing lots of dog walking plus a foot problem mean it's comfort every time when choosing shoes. So for the last few years I look at Ecco and Reiker shoes each season and both have upped their game and I can usually find something stylish and not frumpy. For the first time I ventured into a Hotter store this year and the Donna shoes in pink caught my eye. They are incredibly comfy, look funky with my smart jeans and I have had loads of compliments about them.I agree most of the styles look very old fashioned ,and wouldn't get near my feet. But on the strength of this one pair I will check out their range each season.

Blueash · 20/08/2015 10:05

I love Hotters - so comfortable. I wish I had never tried Crocs a few years ago because they are ugly but comfortable. I suppose Sketchers Go Walk are about the best for everyday wear.

Nonnainglese · 21/08/2015 13:14

I love Hotters. Admittedly some styles are pretty ugly but I'd rather have comfy feet than fashionable shoes crippling me and having to cope with bleeding blisters, not to mention bunions and corns further down the line.

There's nothing attractive in hobbling around grimacing because your feet/back/hips /knees are killing you or needing foot surgery when you're older as a reward for being 'fashionable' when younger!

BlahBlahUsername · 22/08/2015 16:12

Just ordered a pair of the Donna heels. But they only had the size and colour I wanted in standard, so I hope they fit. My feet usually only suit extra wide fittings.
