I mean are they beyond the valley of acceptability upon a stylish foot? Ever?

Seibel, ecco, footglove, crocs and fit flops. My feet are purring just thinking of them...

How sad am I, lol!

muminhants1 · 22/07/2015 12:07

Thank you WellTidy I will take a look :)

Sadly I have foot issues as well and resort to Hotter when things are at their worst. Thankfully I've been able to do without my orthotics for over a year so am wearing more fashionable shoes and sandals again, though there are some Hotter styles that I actually like; the kitten heel/vintage/high heel ones. I've had some of their canvas pumps before which fell apart pretty quickly and have a pair of leather and suede winter boots that I wore to death for three winter. Wore them all day every day and was on my feet a lot for work. There's still life in them, though they are looking a bit scruffy now. A polish and brush up will see some more life this winter again though.

The only thing that puts me off is the price, so I tend to look in their outlet shops. the boots I had were £40 half original price, so have been great value for money.

I used to do care work and me and my old ducks would sit and go through the catalogues together Grin

welltidy yes I did see your link yesterday morning and there is no way I would consider buying them. I found them horrible I'm afraid.

My bunion is almost at right angles with my foot but I have refused to have an operation on it. So far.

The sandals I have been wearing this week include tTommy Hilfiger ones. The strap stretches over the bunion and they are just so comfortable that I came work on my feet all day in them.
For casual shoes I normally wear Vans, Ash or Puma's
I have had a look at Foot Glove and unjust thought they were horrendous.

I really don't like Gladiator sandals on anyone.

My podiatrist once gave me a Hotter catalogue. It was the first time I had heard of them and I had an open mind. However the catalogue soon went into recycling!

I have just looked at every style of Hooer shoe in my size on their website.

It just confirmed what I already knew tbh.
There are loads of sandals and shoes that are way more stylish and comfortable for the majority of people than Hotter. I know which ones work for me so I guess it's just trail and error.
Even my nan who died last year ( bearing in mind I'm 50! ) thought they were, in her words ' old people's shoes!'

moanymum · 22/07/2015 19:47

I'm 49 and I have some shoes and boots. The shoes especially get compliments. My teenage daughter has some short suede boots and loves them, they look great with jeans and she wore them in winter to school- they've lasted years and still look great. You just need to pick carefully. Day got a couple of pairs in the Gretna outlet shop and wears little else they're so comfy. And as for old people, my mum and dad both love them, but my mum is a very stylish 72 and often wears very unusual shoes- my DD and her friends thinks she's really cool the way she dresses!

Whathaveilost · 22/07/2015 20:06

I guess it's just down to personal taste. There's no right or wrong.
Just what you like and what suits your style.

WhereDidTheYearsGo · 22/07/2015 21:43

I have dreadful wider than wide feet and find Evans have the only shoes that are wide enough to be comfortable; they look a lot better than Hotter.

ExConstance · 23/07/2015 07:47

Sometone where I work wears Hotter shoes, she gets compliments, if you saw who they were from you would know it means nothing! I have wide feet and am in denial about a bunion, I find Duo shoes great, I have some high heeled courts from there in a wide fitting that are really comfortable. Chie Mihara are good too, although they are very expensive if you buy off their main site where the pricing is in Euros there are exchange rate bonuses.

Redzer · 23/07/2015 09:32

I like Clarks and Moshulu. I have a gorgeous pair of Moshulu boots as can walk for miles in them.

Madbengalmum · 23/07/2015 09:35

My mum is 67, and thinks they are for the oldies!

DoesItReallyMatter · 23/07/2015 09:52

I find that women who are tottering about in high uncomfy shoes look pretty ridiculous. A lot of women can't walk properly in them and walk awkwardly. Especially on the cobbles in my town centre. I'd rather look comfy. Blush

thefinalcurtain · 23/07/2015 23:22

Envy There, doesitreallymatter that's the right face for your post...

Postchildrenpregranny · 23/07/2015 23:27

Much prefer Ecco
And have some new Skelcher trainers which DD2 ,age 25, pronounced 'cool' They are so comfortable . Memory foam liner . But most of their shoes are hideous IMO

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 24/07/2015 09:06

PrimalLass · 24/07/2015 09:26

doesitreallymatter there is a whole world of shoes between women who are tottering about in high uncomfy shoes and Hotter. But no, it doesn't really matter.

suzannecanthecan · 24/07/2015 09:51

For sure there is a universe of shoes out there, many many flat comfortable stylish shoes to suit all tastes.
BUT very wide shoes, ones with a nice roomy toe box where your toes can spread out so that your feet can be truly happy, are thin on the ground.
?
Admittedly I am rather precious about foot heath and shoes which promote bio mechanical harmony, but I can't be the only one?

PrimalLass · 24/07/2015 09:53

No but being all there is doesn't make them any less style-challenged.

But I live in birks in the summer and uggs in the winter, so who am I to comment?

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 24/07/2015 10:52

Suzanne, I've seen these Vivibarecoots recommended as good for foot health (not optimal, as there's no strap across to avoid clawing), but quite a wide toebox (hate that word).

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 24/07/2015 10:53

Thats Vivobarefoots not coots!
