I mean are they beyond the valley of acceptability upon a stylish foot? Ever?

PrimalLass You are, of course, right Smile and I'd say 90% of my shoes are from the happy middle ground. Comfort and style and no silly tottering

suzannecanthecan · 24/07/2015 17:48

I like vibrams for optimal toe spread :o

Yarp · 24/07/2015 17:59

suzanne

I dad at school wears those. For some reason they make me feel a bit nauseous.

Yarp · 24/07/2015 18:00

A dad

suzannecanthecan · 24/07/2015 18:08

they are pretty funny looking I agreeBlush

Yarp · 24/07/2015 18:12

Suzanne

Comfy though, I guess.

I think I've got a bit of an issue with feet in general

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/07/2015 18:28

If you have foot issues there really isn't a lot of choice out there, they are very comfy which is really important if you have issues with your feet/ mobility. It's easy to laugh and snigger if you've never had problems but let me tell you it's a blessed relief to find something that you can walk in if you have. Don't wear them if you don't like them but don't be rude about them as some of us have no choice.

LilacWine7 · 24/07/2015 18:42

I'm 30 and I've been buying Hotter sandals for years; if you choose carefully there are a few styles each season that don't look frumpy or orthopaedic. They're very comfortable and supportive, and this summer my favourite pair of Hotter sandals have been invaluable as I'm heavily pregnant and my feet and hips ache all the time!

I don't understand why people wear shoes that are uncomfortable! I can't stand anything that rubs, pinches, causes blisters or makes the soles of my feet feel hot and bruised.

Ecco also do a few nice styles. I have a lovely pair of silvery grey ballet-flats with criss-cross straps from Ecco, very feminine and so comfortable it's like wearing padded slippers! They don't look like 'typical Ecco' shoes and friends are always surprised when they ask where they're from.

DepecheNO · 24/07/2015 19:23

I'm in my early 20s and I don't think they're all hideous. I've had to stop wearing DMs because they gave me achilles tendinitis, and there definitely are items on the Hotter site I'd buy for the right price.

Cocolepew · 24/07/2015 19:43

I saw a lovely pair of hotter trainers yesterday, they might have been the ones BOF linked too . I have plantar fasciitis in both feet at the moment, if the podiatrist can't help I'll be getting a pair.

BeaufortBelle · 24/07/2015 22:46

Raising your suffering with a broken ankle thrown in coco. Just out of a cast. Hotter or Suropody it is tomorrow.

ouryve · 24/07/2015 22:52

Shotgun - the fit of vivobarefoot is truely wonderful, but I only wear mine when I'm travelling more than walking, as they're not supportive at all enough, despite doing the second best thing for my hypermobile feet of not restricting or constraining.

Cocolepew · 24/07/2015 22:59

Ouch Beau Shock

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 25/07/2015 00:18

oirvye yes they do look rather flimsy; I'm tempted to get some as house shoes.

Cocolepew · 25/07/2015 17:21

My mum has every comfy make known to man. I was around her house today and the comfiest was definitely Rieker. It was like walking on air, every part of the foot is supported.

LashesandLipstick · 25/07/2015 17:47

Lol all my shoes are hotters, I wear vintage dresses and find their heels perfect. I've had nothing but compliments on my shoes and people are surprised at how I can walk in heels for hours. Would rather wear hotters than the "fashionable" plastic stripper tat I see most walking around in

suzanneyeswecan · 25/07/2015 17:52

thanks for sharing the market research Coco:)
I shall bear that in mind, never bought Rieker before!

suzanneyeswecan · 25/07/2015 18:01

what I really want is a pair of 'boring old hippie' jesus sandals
do they make them any more?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/07/2015 18:15

Suzanne - yes, except they call them Saltwaters nowWink

ouryve · 25/07/2015 19:35

Rieker are fabulous, Coco. Some of their styles are a bit 90s and it's unfortunate that they seem to have scaled back their ranges of boots to mostly synthetic ones, but I've had a few pairs of fab waterproof wool lined suede boots which have been great for the school run. Can't get an insole in them, but they hug my ankles pretty closely and stop them from rolling in, so I don't get any knee pain wearing them.

And they seem to be really well made. I get a good 1000 miles out of each pair of boots before the soles lose grip because I've worn the pattern off. last pair of Clarks I had developed holes in the soles before I got to even half of that.

suzanneyeswecan · 25/07/2015 20:19

Saltwater are nice, but too cool, I meant something a little more basic and 'old school' more along these lines

Cocolepew · 25/07/2015 22:17

Suzanne try Rieker for your Jesus sandals .
My research was extensive Grin
Rieker, Hotter, Ecco and another one that I can't remember but was probably German. They sem to have the monopoly on comfy shoes.

BeaufortBelle · 25/07/2015 22:24

Suzanne, I'll try and link tomorrow. I have a fabulous pair of Jesus(ish) sandals from Josef Siebel. Slightly more contemporary but with wonderful arch support.

Cocolepew · 25/07/2015 22:39

Gabor, that was the other ones.

suzanneyeswecan · 25/07/2015 22:48

yes, I thought Josef Siebel when you mentioned a German brand Coco,
thanks I will investigate:)

quite tempted by these though www.birkenstock.co.uk/Product/60/Milano-Birko-Flor-Black-034791/
