To hate that Mumsnetters Do This

BettyBoopBoop · 17/05/2015 15:18

Everytime someone says something popular opinion on mumsnet disagrees with they are accused of being stupid and uneducated.

You mainly see it on immigration, Europe and political parties.

These people who namecall never actually argue the point but accuse the poster of being uneducated.

Unless mumsnet changes any form of debate on here is going to be boring.

it's like cyber hurt locker

Bambambini · 17/05/2015 18:16

But Maryz - you are very well known and very popular on here. I imagine some posters would think twice about calling you out on something as you will always have folk jump to defend you and take your side no matter what. More unknown posters are always at more risk of getting a kicking. It's not like for like on mn.

Fairenuff · 17/05/2015 18:16

I hate it when Mumsnetters Do That Maryz [sadface]

NoIsNotACompleteSentence · 17/05/2015 18:16

People do realise, that MN is not actually compulsory, right?

It makes me Grin when people post to say how cliquey/bitchy/left wing/middle class etc etc etc MN is - I just think, well bog off, then!

I think, for example, netmums is shit - I don't go on there to post about how shit I think it is...

Mintyy · 17/05/2015 18:16

Crustsaway, don't you think it's goady to start a thread about hating Mumsnetters under a namechange?

HoneyDragon · 17/05/2015 18:17

I don't like the word chums. I always think it has sinister undertones. I don't like pal either, but that's more since people started saying gal pal unironically.

Maryz, If you're being a massive twat, I will tell you. Pinky promise.

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 18:18

I wouldn't call it being "frightened" off a thread either. I'd actually call it hounded in a lot of cases.

I can't stand to see people get bashed or snidely laughed at. It makes me think what on earth is the matter with the people who do this.

Most of it is done in a passive aggressive "aren't I clever and funny" manner also.

Nasty, very nasty.

Tequilashotsfor1 · 17/05/2015 18:20

It does happen but not all MN do it.

I watched a debate this morning where the liberals were being so liberal it was ridiculous. Quite dangerous really.

But it's only a small few that pop up regulary so only a snippet of what people are actually thinking.

Who says that someone has to "make a point"? Surely they have a view?

Another form of "back it up, back it up". Don't you all think by saying this the person will close up, feel attacked and not want to write any more?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 17/05/2015 18:21

Ah is it? I'm not great at recognising them. Perhaps I'm desensitised because there were so many after the election.

I've seen plenty like this which are a bit of a 'beauty parade'; "Who's your best friend here"- type... I'm not talking about those. I don't post on them because I like most and would leave out dozens of names.

The ones I'm specifically talking about are moreso the ones about sensitive subjects that have no business being on AIBU and are posted by goady trolls. There's one right going right now, with chum-bombing!

ghostyslovesheep · 17/05/2015 18:21

it's sad because no other internet forums exist anywhere so if people don't want to post in AIBU they are forced to stop using the web at all :(

cruel cruel army of friends

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 17/05/2015 18:23

How do you know when it's a namechanger if the poster doesn't say so?

fattymcfatfat · 17/05/2015 18:23

when I first came on here, I got nasty comments made to me and about me as I had a difference of opinion to some posters, who would not read anything I said properly. did I feel the need to start a TAAT? nope.

one of the other posters did though to drum up support as they realised I'm not an evil bitch demon from hell Grin

oh and if people make statements of 'fact' they should back it up -otherwise they are just talking boswellox really aren't they

you can't go round shouting about foreign types taking all our jobs/school places/houses/HNS for example without backing that up with data - unless you are a shouty twatbadger with no brain - that stands to reason

Uh oh nornironrock you in trouble now. You troll hunted Mintyy, that's a big no-no.

ilovesooty · 17/05/2015 18:27

Some people need to name change for sensitive / privacy reasons. Posters like the OP are just abusing the facility and I stand by my opinion that they're cowards.

If you really believe in something why not say it under your normal user name?

Mintyy · 17/05/2015 18:29

The argument from the op of that thread was "people who have a problem with massive bankers bonuses are jealous".

There is nothing else to say other than that is stupid.

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 18:29

This is typical, passive aggressive behaviour and I find it rude.

I read this a lot.... well if you don't like it go somewhere else, as if claiming some sort of "mumsnet ownership" errr really. Surely, if you think you are hurting peoples feelings you wouldnt say such things?
