I've spent today getting quotes for my family of 5 to spend two weeks in Spain/Italy/Greece/Turkey. I'm astounded by how much it costs to spend a fortnight away. Mark Warner quoted me over £10k for s fortnight in their cheapest resort!!!

So where are you going and how much are you paying for flights plus accommodation?

We're not going abroad this year. For once we're staying in this country. But last year we paid £4500 for an AI holiday to Tunisia with First Choice in August for a fortnight. 2 adults, 2 kids.

smileyhappymummy · 17/03/2015 20:10

Flights and accomodation to menorca for 2000 pounds for 10 days - 5 people (4 adults, 1 child) staying in a 3 bedroom villa 4 minutes walk from the beach. In school holidays. I love owners direct!

smileyhappymummy · 17/03/2015 20:11

And the villa has a pool. I am very excited!

threegoingonthirty · 17/03/2015 20:11

£2500 for 10 days in Cornwall for 2 adults and 2 kids (aged 2 and 6), half board. Add on petrol for London and days out. Still a sight cheaper!

missingmumxox · 17/03/2015 20:11

4 of us, Holland 1 week, accommodation in mobile home plus ferry, £450.

You cut your cloth I suppose Grin

threegoingonthirty · 17/03/2015 20:11

should say petrol from London!

kewtogetin · 17/03/2015 20:12

This is where having a house abroad starts paying for itself, add up a few years of family holidays and you've got yourself a nice little bolt hole. We just pay for flights and car hire now but we are going to the amalfi Coast in September too, just DH and I for a week, 4k.

FortyFacedFuckers · 17/03/2015 20:12

£3000 All inclusive for me, Dp & DS going to tenerife. I alway book the summer before to get a free child place.

FortyFacedFuckers · 17/03/2015 20:13

Should have said that's for 2 weeks

PtolemysNeedle · 17/03/2015 20:13

£7k, but we're doing Orlando this year, don't usually spend anywhere near that.

MillieV · 17/03/2015 20:14

My goodness - all your holidays are much more expensive but closer...

We're off to probably NYC and Boston for two weeks. Don't expect it to cost more than £3,500 - 4,000

Sirzy · 17/03/2015 20:14

This year we are doing a 3 night cruise as our overseas holiday and it is costing £500 for me and DS and DN.

Last year we did a week cruise which was £650 per adult and about £200 per child IIRC

Crocodileclip · 17/03/2015 20:16

About 1500 for a fortnight in the south of France for 2 adults and 2 children staying one week in a wooden chalet with its own pool and one week in an appartment.

AnneElliott · 17/03/2015 20:16

A week in Jersey. Flights are free with air miles but accommodation is about £600 for 2 adults and 1 child.

Usually spend a bit more but we are going to Orlando next year which is costing £7k.

Empha14 · 17/03/2015 20:18

£10k+ but that is 4 weeks in the US.

PrintScreen · 17/03/2015 20:18

I found a decent apartment with pool in Greece but the flights alone are £2500 and thats a unsociable times. Add on £1300 for the apartment, £500ish for meals and drinks, £300 for car hire, £200 for daytrips etc. Thats nearly £5000 for a standard apartment with badly timed flights.

Going via Mark Warner Thompsons et al is going to cost you.

That simon man who always does travel and said packages are more expensive. But you pay for come back should something go wrong.

I personally don't know why people do it, so much easier to book your own flights and accmdt and get somewhere so much nicer.

Anyway ours is costing - £450 travel and accmd, to The Hague.

AllTheMadmen · 17/03/2015 20:19

About 1500 for a fortnight in the south of France for 2 adults and 2 children staying one week in a wooden chalet with its own pool and one week in an appartment sounds good, are you able to expand on how you found your accomd please ( looking at SOF next year)

LikeIcan · 17/03/2015 20:21

£2500. Me, dh & ds. I week AI Spain. ( will take £500 spending money )

MuttonCadet · 17/03/2015 20:22

Not going away this year, I love where we live and travel a lot for work so would rather be here than anywhere.
So zero cost, and hopefully we'll get the garden sorted. Smile

PrintScreen · 17/03/2015 20:23

AlltheMad - mark warner was the only package i looked at. Everything else was stuff i could book direct. But instill cant find anything coming in under £5k that isnt in a grim resort.

Mamazilla · 17/03/2015 20:24

9k to Dubai for a week in Feb half term
8k to Sensatori in Cyprus for two weeks in the summer (good value for all inclusive IMO)
30k to Argentina and Uruguay at Christmas

rookiemere · 17/03/2015 20:25

We're off to Canada for 3 weeks yay, it's a trip we've been hoping to do for a long while.
So far flights, accomodation & car are running at around 6000 for the three of us and I expect we'll spend another 3k minimum when we are there. Having said that though we're staying in nice places - mostly 2 bed in scenic locations, no point in going and sleeping in a Travel Lodge.

Usually we go to France - flights around 800 and stay s/c - 700 per week.
I always book flights as soon as they come out to get them as cheap as possible.

Drivingnovice · 17/03/2015 20:26

£5.2K three weeks in Orlando but also need to buy park tickets.
That's in August this year. 2 adults and three DC but as they're 12, 14 and 16 now they are classed as adults as far as ticket prices go!

Branleuse · 17/03/2015 20:27

we usually go to my mums place in the Charente in the summer and it probably costs us a couple hundred in crossings and fuel.
