I've spent today getting quotes for my family of 5 to spend two weeks in Spain/Italy/Greece/Turkey. I'm astounded by how much it costs to spend a fortnight away. Mark Warner quoted me over £10k for s fortnight in their cheapest resort!!!

So where are you going and how much are you paying for flights plus accommodation?

£1000 for me to fly to Australia on my own (accommodation is free as will be staying with family) and £3000 budget for my DH t take the 2 kids somewhere for a week sunny while I'm there.

MissWimpyDimple · 17/03/2015 20:51

Wow. Some of you really do have a lot of money! I've just spent £1.8k on flights to Oz for 3 weeks at Christmas (so that's our summer holiday). Will spend another £1k I expect on trips and hotels but we will stay with friends. That's for me and Dd

ArcheryAnnie · 17/03/2015 20:52

If we do go on Fantasy Holiday to Jersey, I expect to pay around £800.

Usually it's dogsitting in the UK, with about £70 on train fares, and a couple of week's worth of groceries and stately 'ome entry tickets.

About 4k for 11 nights all inclusive Firstchoice in Portugal. Most expensive part of August, 4 of us. 4 star, been before and it was brilliant. Kids' clubs amazing and free (kids wanted to go,we don't make them or persuade them)

esiotrot2015 · 17/03/2015 20:54

Lacerbiatta - that's good value !

Fiddlerontheroof · 17/03/2015 20:55

£600 Easy Jet Flights to Rome for me and the kids. (booked in Jan)

£350 Car Hire

£150 Hotel for two nights in Rome (no longer, it's roasting in August!)

Free - staying at Mums house in Italy!

(very lucky!)

It does pay to book stuff separately though. Look at some Villa sites, Agriturismos in Italy, air b&B owners direct etc.

DragonsDoHiccup · 17/03/2015 20:55

£200 for a week in Wales Grin

Mrsderekshepard · 17/03/2015 20:57

We've now cancelled due to dh work but we had booked 1 week at the turkey holiday village for 2 adults and 3 kids £3.5k in August

notquiteruralbliss · 17/03/2015 20:58

Don't usually do holidays because we do other things that cost £ but will spend maybe £1200 for a week in Ibiza for 3 of us (cheap flights, budget accommodation) and ( if all goes to plan) maybe the same for a week in France for 4-5 of us.

WestEast · 17/03/2015 21:02

£60 return flights and £60 B&B each, Malta, one week in March. Took £300 spends, came home with £40. That was with day trips and eating out every night.
Cut your cloth I suppose.

CoffeeToffee · 17/03/2015 21:02

nannyAfrica wins the best holiday prize from me. Smile I love the Kruger. Two weeks is a long time though, are you going to drive right to the northern most part. I'm jealous Wink

WasabiPeace · 17/03/2015 21:03

Week on the IoW with the inlaws. Free.

Effjay · 17/03/2015 21:03

£10k for the four of us to visit my sister and her family in Portland, Oregon and trip to Seattle, including all the spending money.

VivaLeBeaver · 17/03/2015 21:04

£110 for a week in our caravan in the yorkshire dales. Can't wait!

Notrevealingmyidentity · 17/03/2015 21:05

Christ a couple of years ago I spent a month in south east Asia including flights for just under a grand.

Kids sound...expensive.

TeaAndBisquits · 17/03/2015 21:06

Just over £1000 for 2 adults, 1 child and a baby. 2 weeks self catering in Greece (May time)
I can't wait!

BabyGanoush · 17/03/2015 21:07

We are lucky we like our home with southfacing garden, we just stay here and go for days to the beach/family/fishing/meals out/cinema on rainy days eyc.

Worked beautifully last year with the great weather down south.

Fingers crossed!

Every night in our own lovely beds... Bliss

BabyGanoush · 17/03/2015 21:08

1000 for 4 of you to Greece for flights and accommodation sounds barganous! How and where did you book that?!

Primafacie · 17/03/2015 21:13

About 10k for a month in Bali, 3 adults and 2 children. Renting staffed villas so won't lift a finger :o

Fleecyleesy · 17/03/2015 21:13

Maybe it's because you are a family of 5 and generally the deals are structured for the "standard" 2 adults and 2 children. I would strike Italy off your list as I think it's really expensive there. I'd look at Ibiza, we went all inclusive for less than £2k (family of 4). Have spent a little more this year but still not anything approaching your £10k. Maybe go into travel agent and ask their advice - they will prob know places where one more person doesn't cause the cost to skyrocket.

maggiethemagpie · 17/03/2015 21:13

1400 for 2 adults 2 kids a week in menorca end of June. after reading some of these posts it sounds like a bargain!

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 17/03/2015 21:14

There are 5 of us - we have booked 10 days in Italy at the end of May (we have a 2 week school holiday then). Accommodation is €700 and we will spend about €150-200 on diesel to get there because we live in southern Germany so it's a 4 hour drive. We will spend about €300 whilst on holiday - on self catering, cheap wine, probably 2 restaurant meals and 2 take aways, a lit of ice cream and the odd entry/ cable car fee :o

So €1200 for 10 days in Italy for 5 people.

We're going "abroad" to the UK in September and that costs a lot more even though we will have free accommodation the first week - over €900 on flights, then hire car, spending money and petrol and £700 (rather than €) on 6 nights extra accommodation when not staying with family - will cost about twice what the Italy holiday does, probably about €2500.

Apatite1 · 17/03/2015 21:15

I've spent a grand total of £700 on holidays this year feeling virtuous as we usually spend a lot more

LikeIcan · 17/03/2015 21:15

I can't believe how cheap some of these holidays are!
We spend around £500 just going away for the weekend.

MeganChips · 17/03/2015 21:16

1k for a week in Holland and an overnight stay in Bruges and I can't wait!

Thinking of a week somewhere warm in October half term too but haven't booked anything yet.
