I've spent today getting quotes for my family of 5 to spend two weeks in Spain/Italy/Greece/Turkey. I'm astounded by how much it costs to spend a fortnight away. Mark Warner quoted me over £10k for s fortnight in their cheapest resort!!!

So where are you going and how much are you paying for flights plus accommodation?

Around £2-3000 for a nice villa/barn for 12 in the UK, with own swimming pool etc.

robinia · 12/04/2016 13:26

Mark Warner is at the expensive end of the scale because of the facilities like kiddie clubs etc. I suppose it depends what you want out of a holiday whether you are prepared to pay the premium for that.

We are going to a campsite on the Tuscan coast, just outside San Vinchenzo in Italy. A cabin for 6, (4 kids & 2 adults) with Canvas Holidays is £1300 for 12 nights. i tried to book direct with the campsite but the language barrier was too great and the difference in cost minimal. We are driving there so will run up fuel, toll and travel costs, plus a motel for the drive there and back. All up, including food onsite, entertainment, day trips etc etc we expect to spend about £3500.

I cannot wait.

Berny Riviere in France for 3 nights in large static home over bank holiday weekend - £125
Sorrento for our second wedding anniversary at the end of June (no children) £2k
Center Parcs in Belgium (De Vossemeren) for 4 nights in August.- £399 for VIP lodge.
10 nights all inclusive in Costa Adeje, Tenerife for 3 of us (DS1 refuses to fly) during October half term - £3k

scopello · 12/04/2016 19:07

Family of 4.

1 week May Half term - Portugal £2.5K - Expensive flights cos I didn't book early enough and prime waterfront S/C apartment. Excludes spending/food/car hire.

Just had 1 week Easter skiing - £4K - flights, S/C ski in/out apartment, ski hire/ski school. Food/meals were another £1K on top so little change from £5K. This is our first family ski trip and a decade since DH & I last went.

Haven't decided on our summer hol yet.

Madeyemoodysmum · 12/04/2016 20:33

Spain in Easter hols. S/C villa with pool. All in flights for 5 and food a day at a theme park £1500
Greece off season for 4 h/b. £1200
Ok I'm skipping school So fine me.

Norfolk 5 nights in August £490 plus spends.

I always holiday abroad in the half terms or Easter. So much cheaper and I prefer it cooler. In Spain we had an amazing week of sun but hot enough to sit in it all day and not get. It's cool in the evenings tho.

We've just got back from 3 weeks in New Zealand with a 2 night stopover in Singapore on the way home. 2 Adults & 2 Children just totalled it up to £11,000. Last year we had 10 days in mainland Spain in a 4 bedroom house with a shared pool for £2000. Usually do the Canary Islands or Portugal but now the kids have done long haul they want to travel the world. They have there minds set on Florida next year, does anyone have any tips or best company to use etc?

2016Bambino · 13/04/2016 20:57

Not sorted this year's yet but last year we did a two centre trip of 3 nights Dubai and 7 nights in the Seychelles. Total price for two adults plus a 3 year old inc flights, hotels and transfers was £3,400. People expect it to have cost a lot more but I spent hours researching to get the best prices.

JobsonHorne · 14/04/2016 00:05

Airbnb week in Scotland. About £600.
I feel like such a misery but I dread holidays. DH with depression, difficult teenager and ASD ds who just wants to play on his tablet. They always want to go somewhere but I get stressed out with the organising and packing and being away. I'd rather stay at home and spend the money on much needed house repairs then be away somewhere.

Doordye · 14/04/2016 00:53

£4000 for 2 ad 2 ch, 16 night Med cruise mainly Italian ports. + £500 for flights.

Booked it ages ago and its over £6000 now for the same holiday.

This is the most we have ever spent.Wont be spending as much next year. Ive already seen a cruise for next year, for £1800 no flying but Easter instead, so i will book that soon.

Monstertrucker · 14/04/2016 06:24

We live abroad so are coming back to the UK for 3 weeks this summer - so far have spent £1850 on flights, £500 on Car Hire and £350 on a one night theme park mini break. Think the total will be way, way higher once we have finished - all for a visit to our home town. But we have just had a 3 night trip to a lovely beach in Thailand for £250 all in so shouldn't complain too much!

backonthewagon · 14/04/2016 17:42

dancemom is that in school holidays?

doordye what company are the cruises with and are they AI?

2016Bambino what month did you go and who did you book with?

Doordye · 17/04/2016 23:38

This years is on Carnival Vista, it's not AI. Meals are included, snack & room service some free drinks are available, but not alcohol. We buy a soda package for the kids which is around £3 per day each.

Next years is with P&O from Southampton, so no flights.

Look at MSC cruises, Royal Caribbean it's not but you really can get a bargain. In 2014 I paid £1500 for a ten night Med cruise for 2ad 2 ch, in the summer holidays. I added the AI drinks package for £600, so £2100 AI.

.

backonthewagon · 18/04/2016 08:21

Is the MSC cruise from southampton?

AnneEtAramis · 18/04/2016 08:31

We are staying in the UK this year as we finally have a reliable car so planning to base ourselves in Devon and travel about.

Usually we go to Turkey and it's just flights for 5 of us which are about £1k.

Doordye · 19/04/2016 09:18

Yes it was, they haven't gone from Southampton this year though.
