I've spent today getting quotes for my family of 5 to spend two weeks in Spain/Italy/Greece/Turkey. I'm astounded by how much it costs to spend a fortnight away. Mark Warner quoted me over £10k for s fortnight in their cheapest resort!!!

So where are you going and how much are you paying for flights plus accommodation?

Never been on a family holiday abroad. We'd never afford it. We can't afford passports tbh. We have a tent and will go camping in Devon for a week.

7yo dd is obsessed with Les Mis and wants to go to France. I am hoping we can save up over a couple of years. Looking at the prices quoted here though, it might take years. Grin

About £5.5 - 6k for 2 weeks for 2 adults and 2 kids in Malaysia and Singapore including internal flights. We are just B&B in our Malaysian resort but food is plentiful and inexpensive out there, alcohol is pricey but i'm not a big drinker anyway

Last year we spent £11,000 on a fortnight's trip to California. There were five adults and this included food and entrance money to various tourist attractions plus car hire and petrol. We didn't stay anywhere expensive.

nannyafrica · 17/03/2015 20:45

23 consecutive days in the UK.
A few days house sitting for friends in North Norfolk, back home for 5 days and working on the garden and evening picnics, away to Cornwall to walk the coastal path for 6 days, back home for a big '0' party in the garden over August bank holiday. Back to work day 24.
About £1,500 all in. No day will ever feel the same which is what I love.

2 weeks in the Algarve in August:
~£600 for flights (for the 4 of us)
£1500 for a villa (for 6 - dps are staying with us)
Around 1000 euros for food, petrol, etc.

yummumto3girls · 17/03/2015 20:50

Mark Warner will be one of the most expensive ones!! There are 5 of us so hotels are now difficult due to the room capacity and cost. However there are some with 2 bedroom suites or apartments, otherwise it is better value going for a villa. 2 bed places tend to get booked quickly but if you search well you will find some great options. Xmas we went to a first choice family in gran canaria (Can't remember resort) ended up with two huge adjoining rooms, each with a queen size and double bed.
