To ask about never working again ...

I worked from being 22 to 28 (teacher.)

I was posting on the thread about being a SAHM and it occurred to me I can't really see a future where I'd work again.

Has anyone else spent most or all of their adult life not working?

Just wondering. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I know fuck all about pensions and tax too, it's not just you OP.
This thread isn't really about you planning to not to work again though, is it? When you are with someone who knocks your confidence, and puts you down all the time it chips away at your sense of self.
You also live in a very isolated way, and in a way working, somewhere, anywhere , once your baby is a bit older maybe would perhaps help to connect you with the world a bit.
I agree that taking care of your own finances will start you down the right road, but I think you have to be prepared for the possible fallout of that in terms of your husbands reaction to it. He sounds like knob quite frankly.
