To block this car in...

I'm at my mum's. she lives on a a fairly narrow hill, you can park on the road but it's best if you park half on the pavement. I'm going camping for the weekend with friends who are coming to pick me up in an hour. I've just popped to the shops for supplies of crisps and wine and some cheeky bugger has parked on my mum's drive.

I've text all my family and no one has any knowledge of this car. Would I be a total arse to just reverse onto the drive right upto their bumper and leave my car there for the weekend? I really don't want to leave my car half on the pavement for a whole weekend. A few of the NDNs have double buggies and there won't be enough room for them to pass. I also don't want to leave my shiny lovely car under the tree on the road cos it will be covered in bird poo and tree sap when I get back.

Mum is also away this weekend too so I can't even leave the keys. Grrrrrr.

Won't matter if the car has been abandoned police can't move it. You could check with them it's not stolen or if you explain the circumstances they may try and contact the owner for you.

Strictly speaking it's nor legal to park on someone's driveway, it's not a criminal offence though.

Is there someone you could leave your keys with? id block them in and leave my mobile number and when I finally answered the phone direct them to someone who can let them out. I'd certainly inconvenience them in some way

Redglitter · 15/08/2014 12:13

in that case I hope you've well and truly blocked them in Smile

SaucyJack · 15/08/2014 12:14

If you're not leaving until four you've probably got time to have a penguin bollard installed.

Stealthpolarbear · 15/08/2014 12:15

Marking place and blocking the rest of you in

There'll be some explanation as to who's it is.

kinkyfuckery · 15/08/2014 12:25

Have you tried to contact your mum? Like someone said upthread, she may have asked someone to park there to avoid the house looking empty?

Pyjamaramadrama · 15/08/2014 12:26

Op have you been able to speak to your mum to see if she knows?

I reckon she's given someone permission to park there.

Tinkerball · 15/08/2014 12:28

Really who would do this, it wouldn't even cross my mind!

Hurr1cane · 15/08/2014 12:30

How strange!

CallerIDBingo · 15/08/2014 12:30

My mum parks on my NDN's drive when they're on holiday (with their permission).

I bet there's an innocent explanation, but I'm shamelessly place marking in the hope it really is some cheeky fucker Grin

WaywardOn3 · 15/08/2014 12:31

Get a nice MOT centre/ any car garage with a tow truck to tow it off the drive and onto the path?

We've done that before, car owner complained so handed them a bill for the parking and one for the tow. They now park down the road

rollonthesummer · 15/08/2014 12:32

Have you rung your mum?

Please update, OP. I love a good parking thread!

ohdearitshappeningtome · 15/08/2014 12:33

Wine While u wait ;-)

SirChenjin · 15/08/2014 12:34

Oooh lovely - a juicy parking thread. Please, please, please don't let it just be a neighbour or friend who already has permission from your mum to park there

Block-them-in, block-them-in, block-them-in

DidoTheDodo · 15/08/2014 12:35

I can't normally be doing with place marking but I can't resist this one.

Pyjamaramadrama · 15/08/2014 12:35

Yep I also allow my neighbours to park on my drive when I'm not there.

I just really can't see it bring a cheeky random stranger.

Looking forward to finding out though.

PorkPieandPickle · 15/08/2014 12:35

Grin saucyjack, penguin bollard is a great idea!

Buttercup27 · 15/08/2014 12:36

Please please please let us know what happens before tomorrow morning. I'm going away and won't have wifi for a week and can't wait that long to find out !!!

strawberrydaquari · 15/08/2014 12:37

I've given up trying to please people and would block the car in without a second thought, whoever parked there obviously wasn't fussed about inconveniencing anyone

SirChenjin · 15/08/2014 12:38

Ooooooooooh - just had a thought. Does your Mum have a secret fancy man??
