not to want my friend to change her ds's dirty nappy in my sitting room?

I had a nice friend of mine over today with her ds, who's 2 and a half. When her ds needed a nappy change, she asked where she should change him and I suggested upstairs in the bathroom. But her ds didn't fancy that so she did it on the sitting room floor (on changing mat). I wouldn't have minded if it was just a wet nappy, but a dirty and really smelly one?! I'm afraid it really grossed me out and the smell lingered for ages. My own dc's dirty nappies don't bother me at all, but this did. AIBU and too fussy?

YANBU - she asked where, you told her. She ignored. That's just rude.

zeeboo · 29/06/2014 23:16

Stupidly fussy I'm afraid.

BillyBobbed · 29/06/2014 23:17

That's pathetic and you are very precious. It's a baby and it's easier for your friend who is a GUEST in your house.

Smelsa · 29/06/2014 23:17

I thought you were going to say she put his shitty bum on the carpet and then wiped the poo nappy all up the walls and carpet. But no, she used a changing mat.

Yabu.

Proudmary67 · 29/06/2014 23:18

YANBU I hate hate when people do this it's disgusting

Jinsei · 29/06/2014 23:18

Sorry, I think you're being fussy. A friend of mine changed her dd's pooey nappy on my living room floor a couple of weeks ago. It's a long time since I've had to deal with nappy smells but it was no big deal. Just open a window!

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 29/06/2014 23:18

I don't think you're BU. I change my dd in my living room but if I was going to visit friends or family I take her somewhere else. Not everyone wants to see or smell pooey nappies.

CocktailQueen · 29/06/2014 23:18

Yanbu. I didn't want other dc's dirty nappies changed in my lounge! Poo. Other kids' poo is much worse than your own dc' poo...

fledermaus · 29/06/2014 23:18

YANBU.

She asked and then ignored you. Toddler shit stinks.

gingercat2 · 29/06/2014 23:19

Well I would be cross that she had deferred to her two year old's wishes over mine.

bloodyteenagers · 29/06/2014 23:19

Toddlers shit smells really bad though. I used to gag at times changing my own toddlers shitty nappies, longing for the days they would use the potty/toilet for their shits.

She asked. She was told where to go. She should have listened and taken child. Instead of doing it there because child didn't want to move.

Casmama · 29/06/2014 23:23

YANBU - toddler shit does stink and she shouldn't have asked you then allowed her toddler to overrule you - 2 1/2 is NOT a baby.

WorraLiberty · 29/06/2014 23:23

I would have told her she could change him wherever she wants and then simply got over it.

Yeah shit stinks but the smell disappears eventually.

CoffeeTea103 · 29/06/2014 23:23

Yanbu, nobody wants to put up with a filthy smell. She was very rude.

hoobypickypicky · 29/06/2014 23:24

YANBU. She was rude and disrespectful of her host's home and wishes. The polite request of the owner of the house overrides the wants of a toddler, she should have taken her child upstairs as requested.

TaurielTest · 29/06/2014 23:24

YANBU at all.

Monty27 · 29/06/2014 23:25

mmm your house your rules. Yanbu.

cerealqueen · 29/06/2014 23:26

Maybe it would have been toddler meltdown to move and she chooses her battles - then the nappy would never have been changed!

YABU.

Mintyy · 29/06/2014 23:27

Yanbu. No one, but no one, wants to see and smell your child's pooey arse if it can possibly be avoided - do you understand that, all the yabuers on this thread?

MrsFogi · 29/06/2014 23:27

YANBU - I hate it when people do this and never did it in other people's homes. Gross and very rude imo.

middlings · 29/06/2014 23:27

Yanbu. Changing a teeny tiny's milk poo, maybe. But poo has no place in a living room!

coralgrimes · 29/06/2014 23:28

I think YANBU . If I'm a guest I always go off to the bathroom if it's a pooey nappy because I dont want to subject people to DDs horrid smell.

I agree that toddler poo is rank. A friend changed her 3 year olds nappy in my living room and I was nearly sick. Even after opening windows, spraying air freshener etc DP walked in from work 8 hours later and could still smell it

Monty27 · 29/06/2014 23:29

So take the child home if he's going to meltdown isn't it? Or you could have offered the garden. You df was rude to do that. YADNBU

angeltulips · 29/06/2014 23:30
