to think you shouldn't get a full night's sleep if you have newborn quads

This thing on ITV about Quads - the dad sleeps all night every night, while the mum and Grandma get 2 hours sleep a night in between feeding 4 babies. He's taking the piss, right? Apparently it's because he has to work in the morning. In sales, btw, not brain surgery.

twat. i am guessing his job is less important than like, keeping 4 babies alive! people like that piss me right off

ouryve · 03/06/2014 20:29

He's not going to keep his job if he can't string two words together, the next morning.

I'd think he was taking the piss if he didn't pull his weight when home and not getting an essential 6 hours, though. (Not watching, so have no idea if he does)

pianodoodle · 03/06/2014 20:29

Not watched it but YANBU!

I won't switch it on as I've had a nice day today and from the sounds of things it will make me Angry Angry

ViviPru · 03/06/2014 20:29

I don't know, he's up at 6am to cook the dinner and if his work suffers the family income is at risk... I guess if it works for them...

SantanaLopez · 03/06/2014 20:29

Dunno. If he gets up with one baby, should he get up with them all? And then he is awake all night and still having to work the next day.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 03/06/2014 20:29

Does he at least do, say, the 11pm and 7am feeds?

And help fri and sat nights so his wife can have a full nights sleep one of those?

Sorry Im not watching the show but it does sound interesting so will look out for it on catch up.

aermingers · 03/06/2014 20:30

Quite frankly if they've decided that's what works for them it's none of your business. YABU.

pianodoodle · 03/06/2014 20:30

Oops don't know how that happened!

BuntyCollocks · 03/06/2014 20:30

Playing devil's advocate - he should be helping out, but presumably he's also the only one working ie bringing in money to pay for the roof over their head at the moment? They'd be in a world of shit if he got fired because he can't do his job

ViviPru · 03/06/2014 20:31

It certainly looks like he pulls his weight.

I'm saving it up on planner.

But I think YABU. If it works for them (does it?) then no need criticise.

CoffeeTea103 · 03/06/2014 20:31

Seeing that he is the one working to support them, he can't be expected to have broken sleep and then function at work properly.

TwinkleTwinkleStarlight · 03/06/2014 20:31

YABU I think. He isn't going to bed until after midnight then takes over as soon as he gets in from work.

If he is in a sales job that involves driving then tbh he needs sleep.

OMGtwins · 03/06/2014 20:32

depends what a full nights sleep is and if he's safe to get to work and also perform up to scratch to keep his job-kinda important with 5 mouths to feed...

whynowblowwind · 03/06/2014 20:32

Oh for goodness sakes - parenting is two jobs: caring and providing. Mum does the care, dad does the providing bit. It's the same in our house - WHY people have an issue I don't know.

Nyborg · 03/06/2014 20:33

Protecting his sleep may well be a decision they've taken to protect his job and / or income - even a short term dip in performance in a sales job can have a massive effect on targets and bonus. With six mouths to feed, that's not trivial. I haven't been in their position but it could easily be a perfectly equitable and sensible decision taken for the best sort of reasons.

I haven't seen the programme though. He might just be an arse.

TheFairyCaravan · 03/06/2014 20:33

YABVVVVVVU. It works for them!

He is pulling his weight, puts the dinner on at 6am before he goes off to work. He is not sitting on his arse doing sweet FA! He, from what I can see on my tele, is most certainly not a twat!

Itsfab · 03/06/2014 20:34

He really isn't a twat. She has mum helping and he has to go to work so needs to sleep. He makes a dinner before he goes and is hands on when there. I am sure they don't need you to feel irate on their behalf Hmm. They seem a really good team and have grandparents helping too.

TheFairyCaravan · 03/06/2014 20:36

He emptied the dishwasher and did the washing up at 3:00am. He isn't sleeping all night, every nights!

TwinkleTwinkleStarlight · 03/06/2014 20:36

She has just said that he was up at 3am tidying up etc so I think he is doing his best tbh

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 03/06/2014 20:36

Did I just hear them say they were going on a 3 day trip abroad with 4 babies??? I am dumbstruck!

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 03/06/2014 20:37

God, yes they are actually off on a trip...

BumpNGrind · 03/06/2014 20:37

Yabu and very judgemental. They've made a decision which they are happy with. He works in sales and if that income wasn't there they'd all suffer. The mother and grandmother are absolutely lovely too and the couple seem to work well together.
