I think he is great. He is my favorite celebrity/public figure and I wish he was king of england.

You are definitely being unreasonable.
A cheating spineless husband.
No thanks.

'Off with her head !' Smile

hollyisalovelyname · 02/03/2014 14:38

And he needs somebody to squeeze his toothpaste for him.
Jesus wept !

BoneyBackJefferson · 02/03/2014 15:07

"Did you love the way he said he wished he could be Camillas tampon? (Whilst married to Diana)
Boke!"

These would make him just as bad as his wife then?

SconeRhymesWithGone · 02/03/2014 15:23

King of England is not an official title. He would be King of the United Kingdom. If Scotland becomes independent, he would also be King of Scots (assuming Scotland would not become a republic).

MummyBeerest · 02/03/2014 16:25

True story-I met him as a child when he did a Commonwealth visit to Canada. I was 9, maybe 10. I flipping loved him and had a mild obsession with him and all things royal. I was totes jelly of Camilla.

Now? Yeck. Harry however. ..

Oblomov · 02/03/2014 16:27

No. I find him loathsome. Really vile. Can't stand him.

Vibrissa · 02/03/2014 16:28

I agree with Kim147.

I'm not a fan of the royal family. Ridiculous in this day and age.

bodybooboo · 02/03/2014 16:30

I can't like it dislike them as I don't know them and I suggest neither does anyone rise in this thread.

I wish them well but don't want to pay towards their life style. not in the least interested.

you monarchists should be willing to pay then do so, I would love to opt out.

may I remind you that Camilla helped break up a marriage and Charles treated his young wife disgracefully.

the rest are freeloading wasters really.

hollyisalovelyname · 02/03/2014 16:32

BoneyBack I stand to be corrected but didn't Charles cheat first?
If he didn't love Diana why did he marry her?

KarenBrockman · 02/03/2014 16:35

They both admitted he cheated first. I gather he married her to be a brood mare.

Viviennemary · 02/03/2014 16:38

Can't stand the royals. Prince Charles isn't much worse than the best of them.

TeacupDrama · 02/03/2014 16:39

probably because the establishment at the time did not want him to marry camilla

BoneyBackJefferson · 02/03/2014 16:49

holly does that make what she did right?

They both cheated, they were both as bad as each other.

bodybooboo

if we are counting the break up of marriages I think that the higher number belongs to Diana

squoosh · 02/03/2014 16:51

I'm no fan of either Diana or Charles but she was thrown to the wolves aged 19. No wonder she turned out as she did.

caruthers · 02/03/2014 16:54

SconeRhymesWithGone

Of course he would be King Of England along with many other titles.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 02/03/2014 16:59

It's sometimes wise to look at exactly where the money he famously "donates" actually comes from. For example, the £100K given to flood relief came from the Prince's Countryside Trust which is funded by businesses - though Charles was, as ever, quick to take the credit

I don't deny he does some good work (though the meddling without accountability spoils it for me) but never forget his staff are very skilled in public perception

SconeRhymesWithGone · 02/03/2014 16:59

I have met him, too. I had a very brief conversation with him at a gathering when we were both students. He was very friendly and charming. I am American; he made a point to ask about where I came from and what I was studying. He was wearing the kilt and looked quite nice actually (we were in Scotland.) It is a nice memory.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 02/03/2014 17:05

The Queen's official title in the UK is:

Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith

LCHammer · 02/03/2014 17:06

Scone - meeting & greeting is not all that impressive. A good car salesman would be skilled at that.

caruthers · 02/03/2014 17:07

SconeRhymesWithGone

But she IS the Queen Of England.

I don't know what your point is but you're so wrapped up in titles you've forgotten the main one.

bodybooboo · 02/03/2014 17:14

Boney yes she did have affairs too but he wasters older than her, he married her to have heirs because he had to, he effectively used her womb and carried on sleeping with his long time mistress.

he had neither the balls to marry Camilla in the first place or the decency to choose a woman older and wiser than Disna who knew the score.

he's a completely odious man and Camilla was quite happy to collude in treating a 19 year old girl that badly too.

Diana did not stand a chance although yes she broke up marriages too just like her younger brother.

if any if my kids acted like the queens kids did I would be ashamed and horrified.

absolutely vile.

YouAreTalkingRubbish · 02/03/2014 17:15

YABU x a million. He is awful! He comes across as not very intelligent, pompous and with an over inflated opinion of himself. The fact he thinks anyone would be interested on his totally uneducated views on architecture shows how self important he thinks he is. He behaviour during his first marriage was shocking (not that I was a fan of his wife either) Ghastly, ghastly man.

I would never criticise anyone for any charitable work but it is a LOT easier for him to be charitable than other people.

The monarchy is outdated and needs to be wound up.

So he set up the Princes Trust. He has no job and immense wealth, exactly what is laudable about that? Also, the PT has such a tight remit (under 25 and want to set up your own business and have a viable business plan) that it actually helps relatively few people and has far more money than it can give away. I can think of lots more socially useful things the PT could actually get involved in.

And he doesn't pay tax on the Duchy lands and profits - taxes which would benefit his future country and subjects.

He is grossly out of touch with the country and people he will eventually be in charge of. I find the whole concept of monarchy terrifying and anachronistic.

"The housekeepers' diary" is an extraordinary insight into how the Royals think and behave, and the contempt they hold ordinary people in. And the writer loved them - she didn't think there was anything wrong with their mad spoilt behaviour at all!

ihatethecold · 02/03/2014 17:22

My dh works for him plus the other royals.
Let's just say he isn't the worst but he definitely isn't the nicest.
