I used to sport the landing strip up until I was about 6 months pregnant with ds who is now 2. I stopped shaving as I couldn't see what I was doing, also might sound daft but kind of wanted it to be the way nature intended to give birth.
Since then I haven't shaved, waxed, trimmed etc. I'm not massively hairy so it's not a full on 80s style bush.
DP moaned the other day as he liked it the way I used to have it. Hmm. I sort of told him tough luck it's my bits and quite frankly I cba and like not having itchy stubble. He watched our Baby come out of there fgs surely he realises it's not a fashion accessory?
AIBU to not make the effort for dp?

This '70s' bush thing, did women not have pubic hair before the 70's then? Confused

squoosh · 19/01/2014 01:26

I think it's more that porn became so much more mainstream in the 70s, it was probably the first time people got to see what other people looked like naked.

CouthyMow · 19/01/2014 02:12

Natural here. CBA to, well, fanny about with my fanny...

AGoodPirate · 19/01/2014 02:35

All hair on your body gives you germs. Also it's too manly. Women are more smooth. Like if you think about a sperm, it has a wiggly tail, like a hair. If you picture an egg, eggs are smooth, I've never bought a pack of eggs and seen one with fur on it!

squoosh · 19/01/2014 02:40

AGoodPirate, I hope you are a good pirate, you're certainly no biologist!

CouthyMow · 19/01/2014 02:40

Nobody has called me 'manly' before! Grin

I think my rather large bazookas out paid to any attempts to call me 'manly'!

Squirrelsmum · 19/01/2014 03:06

41, until I developed a long term illness I regularly waxed basically everything from the eyebrows down, except my arms. I have been having my pits lasered and once they are done I will start on my bikini line, but for now I couldn't be bothered doing anything. DH likes the hairy look so anything I do is purely for my benefit.

doormat · 19/01/2014 03:31

TheBookofRuth · 19/01/2014 03:48

Doormat, I am beautiful, full bush and all. You, on the other hand, have issues.

CouthyMow · 19/01/2014 03:55

I have no issue with those that wish to have a mowed lawn on their lady garden, but by the same respect, I expect people not to have an issue with my thatched foof roof.

If others have a problem with what's between my legs, then IMO they are the ones with ishoos, not me. Live and let live, hairy fairy, pruned bush, landing strip or clean shaven. Personal choice, innit!

squoosh · 19/01/2014 04:11

'thatched foof roof' love it!

doormat sounds like one of the new vulgar and moronic invaders.

squoosh · 19/01/2014 04:11

Her pubic hair is probably the most intelligent part of her being.

VoyageDeVerity · 19/01/2014 05:30

What a disgusting response to me Oxford. Many women have pubic hair that reaches to their anus. I am actually quite fair and have little hair to remove, but in any event calling women who do "deformed " is really, really low.

Women are all very different and just because you lack the imagination to think outside your own form there is no need to be so insulting.

seventiesgirl · 19/01/2014 05:47

Pubic Jazz Hands!! I am shaking with laughter trying not to wake DP up!

Fakebook · 19/01/2014 08:49

It's not the fault of porn. I started doing mine when I was 13. That was before I knew what porn was.

I used to have horrendously heavy periods and started shaving the 'underneath bit' because it was so unpleasant to deal with the leakage (tmi I know). I rather liked the feel of being smooth - didn't seem to get stubbly. I did once take the whole lot off and didn't like it at all.
So these days it's trim the front triangle with the nail scissors and off with the underneath bit and the stray ones at the side.

Is there anyone else who would admit to wanting to take it off to avoid any possibility of crusty dried-on blood on the hairy parts?! Grin

ocelot41 · 19/01/2014 09:14

Au naturel - 39 - part laziness, part feminism, part genuine fondness of the little wookie.

doormat I think I've spent more time shaving than you have learning spelling and manners

WireCat · 19/01/2014 09:43

How the feck do you get the underneath ones off. Wouldn't take a razor there! Shock

I trim mine & occasionally go around the edges.

Am 40.

scantilymad · 19/01/2014 09:44

part genuine fondness of the little wookie

Please tell me it isn't nicknamed Chewy :)

doormat · 19/01/2014 09:45

fortyplus its not a competition is it haha

thebookofruth i am an oldie hun..i dont beat round the bush so to spk

ineedsomeinspiration · 19/01/2014 09:56

I have never suffered with period blood getting in my pupic hair but then a generally use tampons and have light periods.
I can see that being a reason to shave if you do as it would be a bit yuk.
One of my girlfriends was once with s slightly older man and he told her she had the hairiest bush he'd ever seen. It really wasn't that bad. She asked me what to do and said tell him tough luck, need to follow my own advice I suppose. Just feel actad bad as it used to be shaved with just vsome token hair left and I'm going to admit it was done for dp and not myself.

100% natural. I like it, as I never have to think about trimming & shaving. OH doesnt like shaved/neatly trimmed he's a 'natural man' , thank god. Although I suppose if I had a runaway bush I would trim the hedge a bitGrin
