I used to sport the landing strip up until I was about 6 months pregnant with ds who is now 2. I stopped shaving as I couldn't see what I was doing, also might sound daft but kind of wanted it to be the way nature intended to give birth.
Since then I haven't shaved, waxed, trimmed etc. I'm not massively hairy so it's not a full on 80s style bush.
DP moaned the other day as he liked it the way I used to have it. Hmm. I sort of told him tough luck it's my bits and quite frankly I cba and like not having itchy stubble. He watched our Baby come out of there fgs surely he realises it's not a fashion accessory?
AIBU to not make the effort for dp?

@brunette123

Quick question - is choosing to have a full bush feminist but choosing to have a hollywood or brazilian for oneself and not for a man or for fashion/media images not feminist - isn't feminism being able to choose for oneself?
But it's not an unbiased choice, like choosing whether you prefer apples or pears.

It's heavily influenced by our sexist society, even if people don't realise/believe they have been influenced.

It's like women "reclaiming" pole dancing as empowering instead of degrading.

I doubt many women would spontaneously do those things without such influences.

PerpetuallyUnderwhelmed · 19/06/2020 20:34

Au naturelle but lucky not to be hugely hairy.

BUT the natural state was noted during my episiotomy....I was quite shocked! Do they normally need to note the amount of hair down there?!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/06/2020 20:39

@rosegoldwatcher i would rather hope he already stopped since it has been 6 years😂

rosegoldwatcher · 19/06/2020 20:49

@SchrodingersImmigrant - damn these Zombie threads! (Who is it that unearths them?)

Waiohwai · 19/06/2020 20:58

Completely natural here and I'm a hairy monster. Usually undertake a major deforestation exercise on my legs when the weather gets warmer (haven't bothered this year), but am invariably bored and out of sharp razors by the time I'm half way up my thighs. Pits and pubes never shaved.

TomPettysTopHat · 19/06/2020 23:13

Yep can't be arsed. I do tidy the edges if I'm going on holiday and likely to wear a bikini.

Popc0rn · 19/06/2020 23:27

I used to trim mine very short; shaving just gave me ingrown hairs and it grew back pretty much the next day. Tried getting a wax a couple of times, same problem, but more painful and expensive!

I bought a Phillips lumea a couple of years ago, mainly to use on my legs and armpits, I just did my bikini line to start with but ended up giving myself a full 'Hollywood'. I actually much prefer feeling smooth down there, more than I thought I would. Also like the fact that it's so low maintenance as only have to top it up every 6 weeks or so now.

Mummyshark2019 · 20/06/2020 00:44

Just trim with scissors and shave the bikini line when wearing swim suit. I find I get very hot if I don't trim it down....

wildone84 · 20/06/2020 01:56

Yes me too. I don't any hair, it can cause thrush because when you're in the shower your lady bits are more likely to come into contact with soap from washing hair. If you have hair it protects them. We're meant to have hair, it's there to protect.

wildone84 · 20/06/2020 01:56

*I don't remove any hair, that should say

Paddyclova · 20/06/2020 02:34

I don’t shave down there, though I do trim. I think it’s ridiculous to say that men like it because it’s like little girls. I think the odd sick bastard might but that’s a separate issue. I think in the main given a choice between smooth or hairy many would choose smooth. I like hairy men, my friend likes them smooth. I don’t think she likes young boys Hmm

xzhrfb · 20/06/2020 16:54

We can't make assumptions about how the 7+ billion people in the world groom themselves. The fashion world tries to drive a message but people ultimately make their own decisions. I say do what makes you and your partner happy. Forget everyone and everything else.

BoxAndKnife · 20/06/2020 17:00

@xzhrfb why have you resurrected a 6-year old thread to talk about your wife's pubic hair?

I'm 53 and have mine Brazilian style. I really don't see how it affects my view on feminism.

I just don't like body hair. I shave my head right down to number zero too.

Mary46 · 20/06/2020 20:22

Feel cleaner with it waxed. Swimsuits last year were cut quite high. Think it depends on hair type. I just feel cleaner with it done. Creams leave me with rashes! Im 48

Newkitchen123 · 20/06/2020 20:42

I have a brazilian
Obviously not during lockdown but I'll be there when it opens again.
I'm not even that hairy, I just don't like it. I feel cleaner with it done

Bluewarbler27 · 20/06/2020 21:23

Since getting older it’s kind of stopped growing 😂. I shave my bikini line but that it,.

xzhrfb · 20/06/2020 22:57
