To have felt like screaming at these women?

I was waiting for the bus earlier today with DS in his push chair fast asleep. Our local bus services only allow 2 prams on at once. The first bus already had 2 prams so I waited another 20 minutes for the next. That bus also had 2 prams. I asked hte driver to let me get on and fold the pram but he said no because his luggage rack was full. Both women with prams saw me and one even said "sorry we're not getting off here".

I decided to try and get a taxi and walked towards the next stop which was less than a couple of minutes walk. As I got towards the stop the bus which had been stuck at the lights stopped and both women got off with their prams. The bus went just in time for me to miss it. One of the women shouted "you'd have caught it if you run".

I said nothing but AIBU to have felt like irrationally screaming at them.

(no learn to drive comments please I don't for medical reasons)

Jesus, what a pair of bitches!

YANBU. They should have got off a stop early. How bloody selfish of them.

Mintyy · 09/01/2014 12:37

Yanbu!

WilsonFrickett · 09/01/2014 12:38

Oh how frustrating! YANBU (obviously you would have been if you'd actually screamed at them!). I got off the bus all the time if someone else wanted on and I was only a few stops away.

MrsGarlic · 09/01/2014 12:39

YANBU, how mean of them. A couple of times now I've gotten off a bus with my pram to let another pram on, if we're only one or two stops away. OK if it's raining maybe I'd be selfish, but you don't mention the rain. And their comment must have just rubbed salt in the wound, totally unnecessary!

I'm not saying everyone should always get off a stop early for another pram, but if you can, it's a nice thing to do.

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/01/2014 12:42

How silly - why on earth should they have got off a stop early. They did nothing wrong. They got a bus to their destination.

Ledkr · 09/01/2014 12:43

People are cunts.
I remember getting the bus with my pram and new born the first time out after my section.
A girl was in the only available buggy space with a three yr old sat In a stroller eating crisps. She looked at me but then looked away.
It would have been so easy for her to fold it up and sit him next to her.
I went back home and rang my insurance who said I could drive.
I have never bothered with the bus since.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 09/01/2014 12:43

That's really annoying. Hope the rest of the day goes better.

fluffyraggies · 09/01/2014 12:47

What a pair of bitches! One should have folded for you.

Karma will bite them in the arse one day OP Flowers

Juno77 · 09/01/2014 12:49

onesleep that kind of self centred attitude is disgusting.

likeit · 09/01/2014 12:49

Nasty bitches! Why are people do needlessly mean?!

likeit · 09/01/2014 12:49

*so

Belchica · 09/01/2014 12:54

YANBU. They might well have had a good reason for staying on until their stop. But the comment about you running was mean - perhaps she was feeling a it guilty and said it in defence mode. If they could see you coming it would have been much more helpful if they'd alerted the driver and asked him to wait.

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/01/2014 12:55

Of course it isn't disgusting. Don't be do silly. I'm at a complete loss to understand why you would expect someone to get off a bus early. And also you know absolutely nothing about their circumstances. They may have waited ages, been cold, tired, have even slight mobility problems. But even if not, the act of reproducing does not, as some people seem to think, cause the world to revolve around you.

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/01/2014 12:58

Someone with a pram was on a bus. They didn't get off before the end if their journey to make room for someone else. Wtf is wrong with that? How does that make them bitches?

Juno77 · 09/01/2014 13:08

Because they saw she was about to embark upon a presumably reasonably long journey (hence the bus) and they had a 2 minute walk to do.

They should have got up.

It was rude, self entitled and just plain mean to not make a 2 minute walk so someone can begin a lengthy journey.

You really think it's okay to make someone wait 20 minutes, just so you can stay on the bus for an extra 60 seconds?

MomsStiffler · 09/01/2014 13:13

Of course it's not "rude" or "self entitled". Grow up FFS.

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/01/2014 13:14

Of course it's ok to finish your journey. What a ridiculously entitled attitude you have. And calling them 'bitches' for daring to finish their journey? Ridiculous.

BaileyWhite · 09/01/2014 13:17

What an ignorant pair.

YANBU.

MamaMary · 09/01/2014 13:17

I'm afraid YABU.

They may have had to wait for as long as you did, or longer, to get on that bus. They too may have had to let a bus pass because it already had prams on it. The delay may have made them late for their destination, so they hadn't time to get off a stop early for your convenience.

The woman's words to you may have been as a result of feeling bad because of all of this. You just don't know. So while you are NBU for feeling frustrated, YABU for wanting to scream and take it out on them.

Fakebook · 09/01/2014 13:18

Why are these women being called bitches?! They had paid for a ticket to their preferred stop. They weren't going to waste their money getting off a stop early. Yes it's frustrating, but calling them bitches? Why? Confused

BaileyWhite · 09/01/2014 13:18

What is U is the comment. If they saw the OP walking towards the stop then common decency to hold the bus up. But that remark was just a bit thick.

SirChenjin · 09/01/2014 13:19

What arses they were. Obviously the very idea of showing a bit of kindness to another woman with a pram, using a bit of commong sense, and walking for a whole 2 minutes was beyond their limited abilities.

SabraCadabra · 09/01/2014 13:19

Theyd paid their busfare, same as everyone else. Why should they get off stop early?they might have a really long walk whereever they are going.
