Asda-To think this is stealing?

Shopped with Asda online for many years and i wake up this morning to find they have taken my payment twice.
I am absolutely livid beyond belief they are allowed to do this.
I know i will get the money back eventually, but they have taken my bank into the red aswell. I phoned the bank and they said Asdas have only just started doing this and i could be waiting up to a week to get my money back.
Aibu to think this is stealing and that i should have been pre-warned when ordering that their policy had changed?
Just feel robbed this morning and now my family's trip is ruinedSad

@asda www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1766119-Asda-To-think-this-is-stealing?pg=1 ? everyone who uses Asda should read this! #AsdaWontGiveMoneyBack

that is what I have tweeted at them hope its right

sleeton · 29/05/2013 20:11

After reading this thread, I decided that it might lend a little weight to your complaint pumpkinsweetie if we all emailed the ceo and said that, as a result of this thread, we wouldn't shop in Asda until they have reviewed and corrected that policy (and given you and anyone else their money back).
So, I've done that, but reading that you have had no response from the ceo, I wonder if I should copy my email to any other Asda email addresses. Which one(s) did you use?

philipina · 29/05/2013 20:13

I forgot about the South African call centre. My Dh had them hang up on him when trying to resolve our missing shopping and refund. They couldn't have cared less.

pumpkinsweetie · 29/05/2013 20:16

Thankyou Thelate will be straight on the phone to leeds and see how i get on and report back tomorrow!
I will not back down

to get a tweet trending you have to have the same hashtag the email to CEO etc are a good idea but perhaps a standard email we can all copy and paste so they know that their is a 'campaign' going on may help

LineRunner · 29/05/2013 20:19

MalcolmTuckersMum - possibly. Do the staff swear? Do they push past without saying 'excuse me' or 'sorry'? Do they block the shopping aisles whilst chatting about their weekends?

I always avoid Asda now.

I went to a different supermarket today to pick up a click and collect item and despite it being a busy customer service desk they were perfectly affable. Eye contact. 'May I help you?' Goods searched for and found and handed over with minimum fuss.

I wouldn't even risk ordering anything online with Asda.

pumpkinsweetie · 29/05/2013 20:19

Still haven't a clue how to work twitter lol

I was once charged twice for my Asda delivery. Then I got refunded twice - so ended up with a £150 shop for free :)

pumpkinsweetie · 29/05/2013 20:23

Hope that happens to me visualise, doubt it though. If it did they definetly won't be getting it back after thisGrin

I've just showed this thread to DH. He/ we usually use Asda Petrol stations, but are going to stop now despite it being the cheapest in the area. We are going to use Sainsbo's' it might cost us an extra 65p a tank, but that's a small price to pay knowing that they have only taken the payment once.

If we ever have the misfortune of having to use Asda again we will only use cash.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 29/05/2013 20:24

All of that and more line Grin - but I have witnessed this in more than one store. Maybe it's a job requirement? I once wanted to buy 6 cases of wine and needed help getting them down from the top shelf. OMG - I was clearly the single most irritating thing that had ever happened to the assitant in the wine department. I expect even now she thinks of me with hatred even though this happened last year!

pumpkinsweetie · 29/05/2013 20:26

If anyone could tweet this thread for it would be much appreciated. I think i did it yesterday but can't see it anywhere

I remember when I managed a Post Office many moons ago I was told that they used the "cash in hand" at the close of business to play on the overnight money markets. Could this be a reason for doing this?

fuzzypicklehead · 29/05/2013 20:45

Moneysavingexpert are often good about stuff like this too. Maybe they'll help email/retweet.

Ring the Leeds office but for the love of Gid if you get someone called Julian (I think that was his name) asked to be passed on. Mind you he's had retraining I think after I told his supervisor he reminded me of David Brent from The Office. He did say to me at one point " you've got the top dog here love". Angry

LineRunner · 29/05/2013 21:27

I don't swear at work. Why do Asda staff swear at work?

myfirstkitchen · 29/05/2013 21:45

I hardly ever shop in asda, but another one this has happened too.. Card declined when money was taken.
Never going to shop there again.

rundontwalk · 29/05/2013 21:55

Thanks for the warning-usually use Sainsburys but was planning on giving Asda a go next week. Not any more! Dh usually does a top up shop in Asda which we will also stop.
