Asda-To think this is stealing?

Shopped with Asda online for many years and i wake up this morning to find they have taken my payment twice.
I am absolutely livid beyond belief they are allowed to do this.
I know i will get the money back eventually, but they have taken my bank into the red aswell. I phoned the bank and they said Asdas have only just started doing this and i could be waiting up to a week to get my money back.
Aibu to think this is stealing and that i should have been pre-warned when ordering that their policy had changed?
Just feel robbed this morning and now my family's trip is ruinedSad

It is, but as the op said herself she would have been screwed for the days it took to get her money back if she didn't have family support.

Loads of people shop in Asda as it is perceived to be cheaper than the other supermarkets, its not hard to figure out that many people who do,do so because they are either broke or not especially well off double swiping cards or doubling up on charges online even if they don't actually take both amounts to some people is the difference between not having any access to any cash so no gas or electric or phone or well everything for the time it takes to resolve.

pumpkinsweetie · 29/05/2013 12:41

The ceo is quite frankly useless, and cba to respond to my emails. I am starting to get very wound up & i'm considering going to the tabloids if this isn't solved by tomorrow.

Did you pay by cc or dc?

Is it an Asda problem or a bank one?

I'm sure I read somewhere that if the bank tells you the transaction number(?) that they are using to hold the money, & you pass that to Asda, the money will be released quicker?

pumpkinsweetie · 29/05/2013 13:34

I paid by debit card, the bank won't realise it and neither will Asda

OP posts:
diddl · 29/05/2013 13:41

I'm surprised that they take dc for that tbh, so can see why they take money out first as I suppose they can't rely on it being there after the goods have been delivered.

But the goods not being paid for out of that money but out of the same account again-just mind boggling!

pumpkinsweetie · 29/05/2013 14:12

But they had the money for the goods fri evening and took another load yesterday morning which completley boggles me as they had already had the original payment to begin with.
I have read that companies use ghost payments to make their figures look higher than they actually are and to gain interest from the banks-it wouldn't surprise me as there isn't any need for it other than that.

This is awful, I'm furious on your behalf.

I've just cancelled my Asda order and will be placing an orde with someone else, we use them a lot so that's another customer lost.

pumpkinsweetie · 29/05/2013 18:38

Just bumping this thread to keep more people aware of Asda's taking double payments for one shop. Don't want anyone ending up out of pocket like me.
They still are yet to answer my query a full 36 hours later, i won't hold my breath, that this goes on the full 10 days before i recieve my own cash back.

So (out of curiosity) could we have a tally of the customers Asda has lost as a direct result of this thread?

Asda did this to me. If you google asda ruined my day then you will see the performance I had.
Ring the head office in Leeds and refuse to back down they can and will put it back the same day they did it for me.
Tweet them and get as many mners as you can to retweet and tweet their Walmart twitter page and streamline who are the holding company.
Just keep at them they will keep telling you they can't do it but they can and eventually will. They also gave me a 40.00 voucher the day they did it and sent 50.00 and flowers in the post.
They are twats for it, good Luck OP.

TheLateMrPamuk · 29/05/2013 18:59

Also tweet them the link to this thread.

helenthemadex · 29/05/2013 19:03

good idea of Madame to contact watchdog but perhaps go to their facebook page and put links to this thread on every single post they do so that others are aware of their shitty customer service or copy and paste the OP

helenthemadex · 29/05/2013 19:03

would be hard to ignore if their page was flooded

MisselthwaiteManor · 29/05/2013 19:05

They think they can get away with fobbing you off because one customer won't make a dent in their huge profits, but when they're doing this so often to so many people, and each of those people are telling their friends, tweeting, using forums like this etc I bet they've lost a ridiculous amount of customers for something they could so easily sort out for you and with an apology which is free.

TheLateMrPamuk · 29/05/2013 19:10

They hide bad Facebook posts so the person posting can still see it but no other customer can. It's twitter they hate as you can't control it.
If the op pms me I will give her my name and address and the date it happened to me then they can try and explain why they're telling her they can't do it but they put funds back for me around two months ago.

fuzzypicklehead · 29/05/2013 19:15

tweeting the thread now--any particular hashtag?

The in store customer service desk at my local Asda is two women gossiping while a massive queue builds up

Do you use the same store I used to use? It's unbelievable how little of a shit they give and when you do get some attention the rudeness and indifference is shocking! I don't go to Asda anymore and will not ever again and this thread just confirms I made the right decision.
