I hate denim jackets as well and never get wearing a jacket indoors thing anyway.

Actually I think YABU. My mum is 55, a size 10 and looks great in her various denim jackets, (some of which she's had for over 20 years and still fit her ). I on the other hand at 33 and a size 18 look fucking awful in a denim jacket.

Equally randomly, I actually have a phobia of cardigans (or rather the things that fasten them, which shall remain nameless) and will be in hoodies, denim jackets etc for as long as I live. The recent vogue for young people to wear cardigans leaves me totally nauseous. Suppose I could equally have posted a thread saying no one (man or woman) under 40 should wear cardigans, but even I'm not that weird. Get a grip!

It is just a individual thing I guess a like/dislike my Mum bought a denim jacket and I nearly died and refuse to be seen with her in it !

Hee hee! I'm 56 and wore a denim jacket over my long summer dress last year. I also have long hair! However, I do have some consideration for the general public: I would never, ever, ever wear a sleeveless top and expose my bingo-wings (wibble-wobble).

The only fashion rule for denim is to avoid the full jacket/jeans denim combo at all costs. Unless you are the Marlboro Man.

I stopped wearing all denim at 45. i didnt want to be one of those people desparately clinging to my yoof by still insisting on wearing jeans beyond this age. this also goes for bright hair colour - pink or green streaks. again feel i am just a bit beyond this. however, dont do cardis will leave that until i am 60+

Yes you're absolutely right once a woman reaches 40 she shouldn't attempt to wear anything other than a nice pair of elasticated trousers from M&S and a drip dry blouse.

What do you wear to keep warm then, if you don't wear cardis? Just interested. I am 48 so probably allowed to wear them anyway !
Have got a denim jacket in wardrobe, but haven't worn it for a long time. (DS 15, would probably say "mutton dressed as lamb" if I wore it!
