I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing whether something is appropriate for certain 'age groups'. Frankly, Peppa Pig Wellies are fine on the under 5's, 'ok' for the under 10's, debateable for teens and just not right on the over 20's

Ok so when I was 20 I would go for a night out in a slip dress that barely covered my arse. Now I don't. Other than that though, as long as I follow the rules of tits out or legs out but never both, I wear what I like (not all of my tits, obviously )

I am 41 and look smoking in my denim jacket so yes YABU! Bloody hell, 40+ is not old you know! We arent all rushing off to BHS and M & S god forbid!

I am over 40, but I look nothing at all like Fern Britton much to the disappointment of DH who thinks she looks like a bit of a goer. Fern is great in her way but she is a matronly 54 year old, who I agree does not look her best in denim. She is not representative of all 40+ women.

It's got nothing to do with age and everything to do with style! Like leggings over the age of 12.....generally it should never be done, but they can look great depending on what you wear with them!

Not really many rules at all. Just no need to wear anything you'd see a teenager in. It just looks wrong seeing middle aged woman in clothes from Stradivarius or ETAM etc. If you are trying something on and you are wondering if you could still 'pull it off' the reality is, you can't. By all means wear what ever you like if you don't care what anyone else thinks but if you are dressing to look presentable then no reason to look like a fresh faced 40 in kids clothes.

I wear leggings on an almost daily basis and own several velour trackies.

I am particularly fond of my fawn one. I like to team it with my fuggs and a long puffa in the winter.

Its like going out in my PJs but not going out in my PJs IYSWIM.
