Sorry I think they are exactly the same,they both have a brand to sell-themself and their life.

If anything to be honest I admire KP more as she got where she is completely by herself and to be honest being in a stable relationship is often down to luck.I doubt v much KP asked for her relationship to end.Hmm

Not sure ones private life is indicative of ones success in ones career either.

I must have had a lot of unproper jobs in my time:

paid to answer phone sat on chair I made add
paid to pick pollen from kiwi trees - only when dry and after the dew had gone - I kid you not
stand in a bar and pour a few drinks

I doubt my employment now is really a proper job, but sssh don't tell Grin

Both KP and Vb can't sing which they both freely admit to,both get their boobs out in order to keep in the public eye.KP v honest about this,VB chooses to hide behind b&w designer photography.

Both have done reality TV,the Hello photo shoots,the organised pap shots etc. Both have used their children to sell their brand(KP has recently held her hands up and stopped).

Both are "designers" and are selling their life,themselves as their brand.

KP clawed herself up herself.VB rode up on the back of a girl band and a millionaire footballer to bankroll her.

Now all power to VB she is clearly ruthless re her body and her brand,she can also draw a good frock,but lets be honest how hard is it to design clothes that only look great on you and you have a millionaire husband to bail you out when the shit hits the fan?You need to speculate to accumulate which is a whole lot easier when you know at the end of the day Mr B will bail you out.

VB's brand is the multi millionaire Fortnum & Mason level brand,KP's the cut price Asda brand.

fashion design is a proper job. Whether you consider it worthy is another thing.

Yes Mrs but do you agree with the OPs many assertions about her not having a proper job, being lazy, etc...?

This is the only thing I have difficulty with.

Simon Cowell... does he have a proper job?

Maybe, maybe not. But he doesn't strike me as lazy.

Yes agree with sovery.

I think she does have a proper job but kind of see where the op is coming from.

Being a "designer" with millions in the bank,an entourage,nannies,cooks,personal trainers,a millionaire husband who is £50% of the brand etc,etc is kind of different from those design students leaving college in London and trying to scratch a living.Grin

Personally as I don't have big boobs,£££££ or stick pin legs I wouldn't buy either KP or VB's products but I don't like the lack of honesty with the Beckhams. For years VB denied she'd had surgery or a nanny and isn't honest with the brand thing.

With KP what you see is what you get,freely admits to surgery,nannies,PND,being dumped,the neon pink horse box and jodpurs,shit times the whole lot. She kicked arse at the Oxford Union too,kind of admire her in a wierd way.Smile

mrsh - vb was richer than db when she married him, he has never had to 'bankroll' her or 'bail her out' she didnt 'ride on the back' of a girl band, she was very much a part of it and contributed as much to it as any of the other members, she has a job which brings in her own money and tbh you sound as bitter as the op

and ffs, mothers making snide comments because a woman likes carrying her own baby! bloody hell!

how is she not honest? she dosent have to tell us all her business, why should she announce surgery or the name of her nanny? kp choses to, its what she sells, vb sells clothes.

What right do we have to expect her to tell us about her surgery or her nanny etc..

Why do you like this lack of honesty? It in no way, affects anybody elses lives

i don't think the debate here is whether or not being a fashion designer is a proper job.

the debate is how much of a proper job 'brand beckham' is.

but fgs, please stop citing the guardian article as proof vb does it all. fashion houses don't operate that way.

I'm not a fan of Victoria Beckham but read that FT interview linked to at the start of the thread and she sounds quite sensible. Really liked what she said about being respectful of other people's time so NOT having everyone up until 5am the day she's showing a collection.

Jesus she was in a manufactured girl band and freely admits to being unable to sing. Yes she funded her "designer" career herself but lets not forget a lot of her money will come too from being Mrs B and for years trading on that with Hello shoots,reality TV the lot.His money will be a tad useful too.Setting up a fashion house eats money and knowing you have a dual income will be rather beneficial.

VB likes us all to see what she wants us to see,she goes to great lengths to hide the rest of it ie the surgery and the nanny rarely photographed-why is that exactly?It's because when VB wants to be photographed their team will alert the paps to say she's walking round New York in her designs clutching Harper freshly dolled up or call up Hello for a b&w bed shot.The nanny pics just aren't useful for the Beckhams ie don't fit into the " juggling working mother" picture she wants to create so don't make the light of day.

Sorry VB doesn't sell clothes anymore than KP does,they both sell themselves,one is simply more honest.

Actually I agree with daenery the discussion should be about how much of a real job 'brand beckham' is.

i just think people need to be a bit more aware of how branding and marketing works and not fall for the spin. yes, she will come across as sensible in any newspaper article. but brand beckham is huge. she (or a pa) will have pre-approved absolutely every single word printed.

for what it's worth, i am a designer and have worked within the uk textile industry as both an employed designer proper job and freelance for 18 years.

Katie price designs clothes? Since when? Those pink plastic things are grotesque. I think fashion is VBs 'thing' she is no singer but she does have a sense of style and she can afford to indulge what was a hobby but I think it has progressed and she has a 'look' that people seem to like. I think as time goes on she will settle into that whole world she seems to love it. KP on the other hand looks doomed to a life of surgery and tabloids

VB would have disapeared after The Spice Girls, if she wasn't married to Beckham. His fame kept her in the spotlight, mainly as a WAG, at first.

Are we really supposed to believe she has a hand in producing her numerous perfumes? Hmm.

There was a photo the other week with her carrying Harper in front of the cameras, the nanny was walking behind her with the pram.

I think she live your life though according to your means. I renovate houses and have often been up to my eyes in plumbing crap (literally) and covered in brick dust. If I didn't 'need' to do this and could faff around choosing paints and art etc i would. I think her lifestyle enables her to make certain aspects of it easy. I don't think she works hard etc etc but she is quite likeable and moreso the older she gets

I have no issue with VB running a fashion label. It is her interest and her designs are pretty bloody good. No matter who she is you wouldn't get other slebs wearing her stuff if they were not well made and flattering. They have no need to supprt her.

What I have an issue with, however, is the pretense that this makes her an ordinary working Mum. And that somehow we should admire her for being an ordinary working Mum.

That is actually patronising and insensitive to every woman who really does have to juggle work and family.
