altinkum not to mention coming across as thick as F!

Genius post Grin I was thinking the same but didn't know how to put it politely . . . I love that you didn't bother! Grin

GlueSticksEverywhere · 13/02/2012 10:27

[waves at VB Grin]

ThatVikRinA22 · 13/02/2012 10:45

i cant be the only one to think this way because when he said it (and the "proper job" thing was his own use of words - i am simply quoting what he said) the audience laughed...so much so that he had to ask what they were laughing at.....it was obviously full of very unreasonable people, just like me, because it did make me snort cuppa through my nose.

i have nothing against them, im sure they are perfectly nice people, but i do think his comment was very out of touch, and i will never be able to consider either of them as having a "proper job" - (quote David Beckham unquote)

I am fine with being told i am being unreasonable. I dont believe i have made any personal attacks on posters who have disagreed but ive scanned through and see i am being called a bitch for having this opinion - so be it, its not going to change how i feel about his stupid remark, especially in this economic climate.

right - must dash - off to work. Smile

Doesn't she run a fashion house, or certainly put her name to one. I imagine that's pretty much a proper job.

ThatVikRinA22 · 13/02/2012 10:49

oh now im thick as fuck too as well as being a bitch....nice! this as fuck is something you may want to revise as you read over your own post - perhaps your grammar just went downhill with your estimation of me.

good job im taking this is in what im sure is the spirit of joviality its meant in...Smile

Read an interesting bit in the Guardian about VB this weekend. She designs everything in her collection and sounds as if she works her butt off to be honest.

Only 2 bugbears I have is the continual carrying around of the baby like a matching handbag and the fact nothing goes into her collection that doesn't go into her wardrobe. One of her team pointed out that not everybody has her legs apparently the comment was ignored.

Sorry but ignoring practically the entire female population of real women(the vast majority of us aren't stick thin and reject roasted tomatoes in order to keep stick thin) doesn't make you that talented a designer imvho.

Yes she has a real job but talented hmm not so sure.

GlueSticksEverywhere · 13/02/2012 10:50

So Vicar do you think that seeing as being a sportsperson, designer, artist or whatever isn't a proper job, do you also think that means that no one should do those jobs? So we would have no art in the world or any competetive professional sports?

I imagine you bulgy eyed, white knuckled, staring at cuttings of vb the More you post the more of a bampot you seem

MrsHeffley · 13/02/2012 11:00

Said baby only seems to be carried this way when it's fashion week, some release or some other newsworthy event. Don't rem ever seeing similar pics of the boys.

Tottering around in heels in the middle of New York with no nappy bag, drool, coat and baby togged up in £200 tights(yet to see a grotty babygro)that co-ordinate with the latest design, sorry cynics might say VB is using her baby to sell her brand.Wink

GlueSticksEverywhere · 13/02/2012 11:01

You see I don't get why carrying her baby around is seen as terrible.

Agree. I don't think they can win to be honest. Or any other well known, well off people. There is no much jealousy that it doesn't matter what they do or how they do it there will be someone ready to criticise.

VB was in a very successful pop group, has had 4 children and is now a fashion designer. That's a lot of achievement. DB is a very successful footballer. They have both made a ton of cash. I don't see what there actually is to criticise. OP has picked up on the "proper job" comment in a flash as it makes her feel better to belittle them due to her feelings of inadequacy or jealousy or whatever. Really it might be healthier to think "they've done well for themselves, good for them" and get on with her life rather then finding ways to belittle their achievements, criticise them for doing the things they are good at.

I wonder how OP would like it if we all took a long hard look at her life and ripped it to pieces like that. Perhaps we would say she is crap at her job or that she shouldn't be sending her kids to a childminder/has terrible dress sense or whatever else we can think of.

They may be celebrities but they are just people.

DamnBamboo · 13/02/2012 11:05

She wasn't a designer when her boys were babies MrsHeffley. And yes, there were plenty of pictures in the press of her carrying them around when they were tiny. Selective memory perhaps.

My children have never been brought out in a grotty babygro either. What of it?

DamnBamboo · 13/02/2012 11:07

Presumably she has carried the baby from her chauffeur driven car to wherever she's going. So about 10 feet from the car to do the door I would imagine.

It's common sense really; the baby wouldn't be in a thick coat, etc.. if she has just been taken out of the car.

Also if I had staff who would (presumably) carry my stuff, I wouldn't carry it either.

DamnBamboo · 13/02/2012 11:08

Do the baby's tights really cost £200?

MrsHeffley · 13/02/2012 11:10

Sorry I think there is too much hypocrisy. People criticise Kp but the Beckhams are no different they're selling a lifestyle brand.A lot of these current photo ops are set up.

Everlong I think you must be the only person not to have seen the extensive designer Harper photos.Grin

PosiePumblechook · 13/02/2012 11:15

What do we expect these celebs to do though? They are not educated, they come from not much money, they make money from their brand...

Lueji · 13/02/2012 11:15

Not that I particularly like the woman, but she was on the Spice Girls, and people in these groups usually work hard doing promos, recording, shows, rehearsing, etc.

Not exactly "never done a day's work in her life".

And VB is hardly a "footballers wife". She was probably more famous than he was when they got married. And had enough money from her work.

Apart from the kids' names, she and David seem to be good parents.

DamnBamboo · 13/02/2012 11:17

Why shouldn't she take her daughter out looking nice?

I don't get that it's a problem.

They all, always look nice. This is no different.

I don't criticise Katie Price.

She is very confident, and presumably is either a good business woman or is smart enough to hire the right people.

Loads of celebrities tip off the paps as to where she is.

MrsHeffley · 13/02/2012 11:19

www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/david-beckham-calls-harpers-wardrobe-190983

Sorry the tights are £300!

Apparently VB has just released the Harper handbag.Smile

I admire her work ethic, and kind of liked her from the article but I think a little honesty re the Beckham brand is needed both from themselves and the general public.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 13/02/2012 11:22

I don't understand... you say "i dont see celebrities as having a proper job. raising children is a job. its not paid - but its a job, and an extremely valuable and under rated one"

You then name Victoria Beckham, Katie Price and Kerry Katona....

They are all mothers!

Confused
DamnBamboo · 13/02/2012 11:25

I know amazing.

The OP keeps making more and more spurious, unrelated points which really have nothing to do with her OP.

Just say you don't like VB and think she is overpaid, and probably many would nod in agreement with you.

But all these other little snippets that keep cropping up to defend her corner, really make no sense.

scottishmummy · 13/02/2012 11:28

Kate price regularly papped drunk when pg,chaotic life, constant emotional drama about her love life, financially precarious

Vb v circumspect, no great weekly debacles. Stable relationship, solvent

No comparison between them both.at all

DamnBamboo · 13/02/2012 11:31

They have hundreds of millions of pounds.

Surely £300 on a pair of tights if you can afford it is no biggie [shrug] ?
