on jonathon Ross that his wife had " a proper job".....i only watched it last night as i had it taped.

Of course you are allowed an opinion - but you are comic across as quite bitter and jealous...

What defines a proper job? There are different jobs, some harder than others, some more worthy than others. She does have a job and has drive and ambition. She is not harming anyone and is doing something she enjoys. I dot think she is a Designer in the league of someone like vivienne westwood and I am pretty sure she has a great team behind her but some of the most successful people in the world have a team of great people and yes, she uses the fame that has come her way but wouldn't we all?! Good luck to her!

i doubt a-listers are queuing up to wear 'her' dresses. firstly, she lends her name to a brand. she may advise (and i use that word loosely as the majority of the range are derivatives of a smock style dress with very little tailoring involved) the designers, but she is not a fashion designer. and secondly, all design houses offer their dresses to a-listers for free for big events, it's a PR exercise. 'victoria beckham is queuing up for a-listers to wear her dresses' is probably more realistic way of putting it.

like her or loath her, she is a shrewd business woman.

well, i think VB is talentless. yes.
DB had talent but i do think all footballers are paid obscenely - but that aside i think VB has been very lucky and yes - i believe her success is on the back of her husband.

i just cannot get my head around her having a proper job. its just not. im actually astounded that people think raising children is worthy of the pay and adulation they get....isnt that what we all do? dont we all raise children? how is she better than me at it? my kids are great! ive done a really good job - mine are 20 and 14 - does that make me better or worse than her? i dont see motherhood as a "job" though, and i dont expect to get paid for it! having children was my choice - not a career move.

so i am basing this on her career as a singer and then a designer. neither of which are proper jobs....not in my eyes. she hasnt strived for her career - she hasnt studied or taken exams....she trades off of her name.

So a retail worker isnt a proper job then? That is one example where you wouldnt study or take exams to get the job.

A job is something you go to to earn money. Just because your job is more "worthy" than theirs doesn't mean they don't have a job.

I'm sure her job is more fun than a lot, and doesn't do as much good for society, or whatever, but so what? Doesn't mean it's not a proper job. Not everyone can be a social worker.

I know a couple of designers (check me out - should add not friends know just know in passing through work!) and they definitely have a proper jobs and work incredibly long hours. They do a lot more than just draw a couple of pictures, they manage huge teams of people etc etc

from what I hear VB does actually do a lot of the designing herself and is very involved in the day to day of the business. She is definitely the brains of the operation and has successfully built 'brand beckham' to be a multi-million pound business

footballers get paid a lot because people are happy to pay a lot of money to go and see them. A successful player will bring in a lot of revenue for his employer and is paid accordingly. Beckham is a very talented footballer.

They are both in the entertainment industry and profession wise are in the same bracket as actor, producer, stuntman etc. All proper jobs. Does George Clooney have a proper job? Or George Lucas?

Now if we are talking about jobs that are worthy then sure, a footballer and a fashion designer wouldn't be the first I'd put on the ark but that isn't relevant to whether or not the job is a 'proper' one

(Never thought I'd e writing something to defend the Beckhams!!)

notvery - read my previous posts - i said people who stand for hours in a shop are very much people whohave a proper job! i used to do it. i have worked on a checkout, as a gp receptionist, as an optical assistant and finally, as a police officer.

VB is not someone who i would consider has a proper job. trading on your husbands brand name is just lazy.

Actually Everybody it wouldnt surprise me if brand Beckham is as big as it is simply because of Victorias drive and ambition. I can just picture them talking and Victoria telling David what to do next etc. Of course I could be completely wrong, but why not?

I think the Rebecca Loos scandal showed exactly who was the brains! She was obviously very forgiving, but having built Brand Beckham around the wholesome family man image, he realised PDQ that a divorce etc would not be in his interests!

So did he admit to that then? All this talk of him definately being naughty with her just doesnt sit right if nothings been confirmed. I wasn't aware it had been. Then again I may have easily missed it.

ok - ive not taken exams - apart from job related ones. i see shop workers as having proper jobs. i just do. they work bloody hard and i used to be one - im not bashing shop workers.
im bashing lazy arsed celebs who think they are working for a living when they are living a life of abject luxury and doing sod all....

Victoria Beckham was equally famous to David at the point they met.

All of the Spice Girls have done relatively well since their split. None of them was particularly talented, but together they were massive. Why are you picking on Victoria Beckham?

And you know something? Until she heard her husband had slept with another woman (assuming that is true) she thought he was faithful. It's exactly the same for you, OP. Everyone knows their husband is faithful up until the point they're not. And it's the most painful thing in the world to find that out, whether you're rich and famous or poor and downtrodden. It's disgusting that you should bring that up.

You are just making yourself sound absolutely vile.

doubtful VB would have got anywhere in the fashion game based on her spicegirls infamy alone.

so i do not quite agree with troisgarcons, as talent and business acumen won't necessarily get you anywhere.

i have no doubt that she works very hard.

however i must agree with the general principle that being famous and working hard. doesn't get the same level of respect from me as working in the NHS or social services or teacher.
