TheParanoidAndroid · 08/02/2012 11:22

they might as well all read "I AM A TWAT"

DontDickensBooksDragOn · 08/02/2012 11:22

YABU

[shrug]

There are lots of thing I deem pointless. Some people will agree, some people won't. No doubt there are things you enjoy having/doing that I think are a pointless waste of money/time/effort

If we all liked the same things the world would be a very dull place indeed.

eaglewings · 08/02/2012 11:25

They have great advantages to other people, I know where my neighbours are as their cars are easily spotted when parked around town

mumblechum1 · 08/02/2012 11:26

YANBU. I think they're a bit sad.

BelleEnd · 08/02/2012 11:27

YANBU. I can't ever imagine being rich enough to think that a good use of my resources would be to get a PN Plate.

Icelollycraving · 08/02/2012 11:28

We have one. I was a bit mortified as my dh used my nickname & his age. Basically it added 10 years to me. Not impressed. :o

AuntingCarse · 08/02/2012 11:29

TheParanoidAndroid sums it up perfectly.

WowOoo · 08/02/2012 11:29

ParanoidAndroid Grin I always think that, well actually 'I am an arse' or 'Look, I'm totally original and different and special'.

landrover · 08/02/2012 11:29

Ahhhh, i love mine, it says MUM Love it xxxxx

DontDoSupportiveGF · 08/02/2012 11:31

I sometimes see number plates which I know to be worth about £1k plus (minimal letters and numbers) on cars which are worth about £3k. I'm not sure what that is about.

ComposHat · 08/02/2012 11:31

Yep, pointless, people only buy them for vanity or to disguise the age of their car (who cares)

The only one I've liked was on an oldish but spotless Rolls-Royce parked on the drive of a run of the mill suburban housing estate.

It read R0 13 13 E R

CogitoErgoSometimes · 08/02/2012 11:31

They say "Look at me. I can't spell my own name'..... Or are there people really called Deb1?

MadameCastafiore · 08/02/2012 11:32

Think they all really spell KNOBBER!!

Can see no point whatsoever in them.

YonSeaCow · 08/02/2012 11:34

I think they can look good on a business vehicle if they use the business name, but individuals just look like twats.

EauDeLaPoisson · 08/02/2012 11:37

Twattish, self important with a serving of noveau riche to go with it

Forrestgump · 08/02/2012 11:37

K 51UT! I followed an oriental person with this on his BMW last week, I actually went round the roundabout further than i need to as i couldnt believe the plate!

When my cousin got his pilots licence a few years back now, his dad bought him something along the lines of P1LOT ... tho it may be P11LOT? i havnt seen it, my mum called me tell me, he bought it.

I havnt got a problem with them myself.

Hammy02 · 08/02/2012 11:39

It's just plain chavvy.

SaraBellumHertz · 08/02/2012 11:39

They certainly lack a little class.

Or what paranoid said.

EauDeLaPoisson · 08/02/2012 11:41

I work right next to the law courts in Birmingham. In our nearest car park I spied a mercedes with MR LAW as the reg plate. May as well have said 'The berk in the merc' to be quite honest. Cringe.

ArielNonBio · 08/02/2012 11:42

They might as well say "I think I am too special for a bog standard numberplate."

Though that would be quite long.

OP, you may as well have entitled the thread "How to make some people very defensive and cross". Grin

ChickensGoMeh · 08/02/2012 11:44

YANBU. I particularly Grin at the ones which aren't readable anyway, but you know someone has paid out £££ for them.

EauDeLaPoisson · 08/02/2012 11:45

My DH himself has nearly died, worked his ass off to get us in a better financial position etc etc...I really just dont see the need- they just seem to be about showing off 'here I am...' yes people may like them (perish the thought) but nobody can really argue there IS a point to them can they?

Whatmeworry · 08/02/2012 11:46

Nothing shouts "wanker" quite so loud :)
