Bags of poison sewn into our infant feeding parts.

How fucked up is that?

This may be a daft question but do implants affect ability to breast feed?

Zondra · 12/01/2012 12:53

I agree with you. Big, medium or small, breasts are all beautiful in their own way.

Something tells me though, that this thread is going to get a bit messy... Wink

Hullygully · 12/01/2012 12:53

And women pay for the privilege...!

I don't know, scurry

pinkmagic1 · 12/01/2012 12:53

I suppose I agree but it can be very depressing having a chest as flat as a man!

scarletforya · 12/01/2012 12:54

Depends on whether they're under the muscle or over the muscle scurry

iklboo · 12/01/2012 12:54

I remember a tv show last year where they showed pictures of boobs to a load of teenage boys & asked them to point out the 'normal' ones. They all went for the implant boobs picture.

Hullygully · 12/01/2012 12:54

I don't see why. Nothing to disagree with here, surely?

I know someone with implants who breastfed. That was a long time ago though so advice may have changed but she was physically able to.

MudAndGlitter · 12/01/2012 12:55

I have no boobs. I think they're beginning to grow inwards Sad

Until this I did want implants but now I may go old school and stuff tissue down there.

I think ability to breastfeed isn't always affected depending where the implant is placed, if behind the pectoral muscle it's ok I think. If in the breast itself, more likely to cause probs.

No expert though that's just from vague memories of friends that have had it done and briefly spoken about it.

Hullygully · 12/01/2012 12:56

Mary - they do have enlargements. There is a horrid tale of such in Lionel Shriver's So Much For That. Which I heartly recommend to all btw, as a chilling tale of privatised medicine.

YANBU. At all.

WinterIsComing · 12/01/2012 12:57

Such a vulnerable part of a woman being messed with unnecessarily is awful. It's one of my biggest fears. Adopted with no relevant medical history, the women on both sides of my bio family could have had cancer at a young age and I just don't know and am not being screened.

I saw a lovely-looking young woman on the front page of our local newspaper yesterday. Really, really, naturally pretty as in not plastered in slap and healthy-looking. Clear skin, white teeth, beautiful smile and bright eyes.

She was there because she is a lap-dancer who is in danger from her implants Sad

YuleingFanjo · 12/01/2012 12:57

I agree, what kind of fucked up society do we live in when people actually decide to do the job of sewing these chemicals into women? I can understand the point for reconstructive surgery, prefereably onthe nhs, but for someone to think it's ok to do a job where they disfigure women to fit some kind of weird 'ideal' wtf!

Why are these women so lacking in self-esteem that they think it's worth paying someone to mutilate them?

I heard a woman on the radio say she had the damaged implants taken out and that they had been given to her by her husband for her birthday! WTF. Who in their right mind would say 'wow, thanks' for a present like that - who in their right mind would see implants as a good thing to give as a present?

the whole thing makes me want to scream.

Zondra · 12/01/2012 12:57

Hullygully, as I said I happen to agree with you but, I suspect soon enough there shall be moaners bleating about how it's flexing your feminist rights & muscle to fill your breasts with silicone.
Probably.

DoesNotGiveAFig · 12/01/2012 12:57

*unless it's for reconstructive reasons

scurryfunge · 12/01/2012 12:58

Ah, ok, thanks.

LauraShigihara · 12/01/2012 12:58

In answer to your question, Hully, pretty fucked up.

StickAForkInMeImDone · 12/01/2012 12:58

I got told by a friend that it was weird that I allowed my DS and DD to see me naked Sad How else will they learn what a normal body looks like? But then on the other hand I don't want either DC to think my 4stone overweight body is something to aspire too not do I want them to think an airbrushed, botoxed face, enhanced bust is something to aspire to either Confused

Hullygully · 12/01/2012 12:58

Well that is their right of course. But they are entirely wrong and misguided.
