Agree Hully. Utterly depressing and giving a false view of what the female form is supposed to look like. Watched a docu a while back where teens of both sexes were shown pictures of breasts with and without implants. Without exception they viewed the stuck on half cantaloupe look to be the more attractive. That's what this ridiculous fad is doing. Boys expect that look. Girls want it. And so it goes on....

While I feel sorry for those involved in the recent scare story re implants if it stops some having the op then I think that will be a positive to come out of it.

I can only hope this scare will have some sort of positive in making young women stop and think. Sadly nature endowed the women in my family with naturally saggy tits, my mum, my sister, me all have them. If, when I was a teenager or in my early 20s, surgery had been as common as it has been over the past decade or so, I fear I may have thought it a good idea to do something about the shape of mine. The wisdom of age has taught me many things, and the thought now fills me with horror for so many reasons - feminist and just plain risk assessment. Things is, I can only imagine my dds are going to have the same boobs, I just hope they have more sense than I fear I would have done.

It's the complete indignity (and pain) of getting all your pubes ripped out that gets me. Why should any woman feels she has to have a stranger do that to her in order for her to be attractive to the opposite sex. If you want to, fine, but for teenages to feel thay have to is so sad. The blokes aren't bloody doing it.

I wonder if the PIP scandal will start the tide away from the implants as it becomes seen less of a "makeover" and more of a proper surgery with all the consequences of as such. Or is it a temporary glitch? I would love to know how many new clients are in discussions iwth the clinics regarding prospective surgeries vs what would be normally expected at this time of year.

It really scares me that DD is growing up in this kind of culture. It's as if feminism never happened. All women seem to care about these days is looking like a barbie so that they can pull a bloke, and any bloke will do whether he is a nob or not.

Once I thought that nob-head men would die out, like dinosaurs, because women would rather be single than date/marry/procreate with one. I was sadly mistaken and it seems that the opposite has happened.

Was looking at tabloid pics of Reese Witherspoon on the beach the other week (yes I know, I was bored).

A very pretty woman who is slim, bit pear shaped, had two kids. Basically a completely normal weight and shape for a 30 something mother - probably slimmer than most actually. The comments about her appearance were utterly vile.

Somehere along the way it has become unacceptable to be anything other than stick thin with huge tits. A body shape that seldom occurs naturally.

I think they need changing every 10 years as well. Never understood how someone could do it knowing that. What do you do when you get to 70? You have these pert boobs and the rest of you is saggy. What happens when you decide you don't want them anymore - you'd have stretched skin with no filling. Always thought it an odd thing to do. Reconstructive surgery different though.

I loathe this porny beauty standard all young women now feel they have to adhere to.

But I think we underestimate the pressure young women feel to confom to current beauty ideals in order to gain a mate.

These "mates" need to be educated when they are young boys and then teens what normal female form looks like, so they do not get their ideas from porn and put women under pressure.
