To wonder if muslims judge non-muslim women who do not cover their heads?

Obviously I only mean muslims who cover their head themselves, I realise some muslims do not agree with the practice.

I am curious to know whether as a non-muslim woman who doens't cover her head I would be judged?

Depends on the individual, obviously. My SIL who covers doesn't judge anyone else, nor does my MIL.

Any muslim who judges anyone else's behaviour and practices is doing it wrong. This is how it has been explained to me by muslims, by the way.

Depends on the individusl. Muslims are not this homogenous group! I cover but dont give a stuff what other women do

I rarely notice what people wear to be honest and have friends ranging from those who veil to them with tattoos and skimpy clothes.

Why would anyone care? I mean really, why do you care what I think, and why would I care what you had on your head anyway?

I do ocassionally really really want to stop and ask women wearing exceptionally beautifully tied hijabs where they got them from and how to tie them like that......

You could ask the same question of Christian woman who go to church the bible says.

I Corinthians 11:5-6:

"But every woman praying or prophesying with her head not covered, disgraceth her head: for it is all one as if she were shaven;

For if a woman be not covered, let her hair also be cut off. But if it be shameful to a woman to have her hair cut off or to be shaved, let her be covered.

Verse 10 states:

"Therefore ought the woman to have a power over her head, because of the angels."

Verse 13:

"You yourselves judge: doth it become a woman, to pray unto God uncovered?"

I think if some people judge then it is only a minority not a whole group.

I used to work with a Muslim man and he never judged me at all. We used to have long chats about his faith and also mine, he never tried to 'convert' me. He expected his wife to keep her hair covered as that is what is expected, she was happy to do so. He did say that some older members of thier community judged young non Muslim girls as they were seen as being immoral.

Some people from all sectors of the community will be judgey pants, it's just a fact of life.

I think the reason people get prickly is because you ask the question as if all muslims think the same. It's also a bit questionable to ask a question about Ismal that you could so easily ask about another religion, but didn't.

I just wonder if it's hot, although I guess it can't be as most Muslim countries are pretty warm places.

I just thought this same question yesterday as I saw a woman wearing a beautiful full length gown and headress. I was wondering if she would think women wearing figure hugging clothes were not as modest as they should be. I only wonder what women whose religion doesn't agree with women showing off their body must think about all the sexed up videos and musical performances in our culture too. I think they are a bit out of control atm.

To be fair, if I'm out in an area where there are loads of hijabs and not a few niqabs, I do imagine people going "I can see your hair, you slaaaaaaaaaaaaaag!"
(in my head, it's an Eastenders-style voice for some reason, although we're in Brum. Go figure.)

As a lady usually found slobbing in jeans and a t-shirt, it is odd to suddenly find myself the most exposed female around....

Some people are judgy.

Some people are judgy about everything.

Some people are only judgy about somethings.

In fact I think all people are judgy about something.

However, OP, I might have wondered that myself.

I think the answer is that some women who cover their heads would judge those who don't and some are too busy wondering what to cook for tea that night, what excuse they can come up with for having done nothing all day today to their husband and if the neighbours are judging them for not having as beautiful a garden as theirs.

Oh no, sorry that's just me. for having procrastinated all day long and having done very little.

I asked my Muslim friend whether her headscarf and modest clothing weren't a bit warm in the summer and she said "yes, but not as hot as the fires of hell", which I thought was a good answer!
