To make my kids walk home (withme) cos I have had a drink???

We live a 10 minute walk from school, the route we take meanders along a footpath, lots of wildlife and nature. To take the car also takes 10 minutes.
I have had a few drinkies with a friend over lunch, but now it's decidedly blustery. Kids are going to hate the weather but have no choice cos I have to walk to pick them up.
I know I have no choice but to walk but they are going to get blown to buggery. Now feel a teensy bit guilty cos it was sunny when I had a drink.
Should I have not had a drink at all (not had much but too much to drive) or should I have declined just in case my little darlings get a bit wet and windy swept on the way home

A ten minute walk in the fresh air is good for everyone. You're doing them a favour.

YANBU. But then again, I walked home from school (about the same time frame as yours) in ALL weathers. They wont melt.

I don't have a car and live a whisker off two miles from the school. My 3 year old walks there and back to nursery each day in all weathers, along with my 9 yr old in p5, while I push dd in the buggy.

YANBU to make your DC's walk for 10 mins anywhere, whatever the weather. It won't do them any harm and if they shigne they are being spoilt.

YABU for bragging about having lunchtime drinks with a friend - I'm just jealous though because I'm 8 months pregnant with DC3 and the world of lunch & drinks seems so adult and distant

They'll be jumping in puddles and throwing sticks at each other (or is that just my two ).

DS moans about getting dropped off/picked up by car as it's less fun than walking . They may enjoy it and it'll do them good.

Don't feel guilty, so you had a few drinks, so what, as long as you aren't falling over and slurring your words, no harm done. The kids will be fine, if a little bedraggled. Know what you mean though about the weather (have just posted about it) talk about blow away the cobwebs.

Why on earth would you drive if you're 10 mins walk from school?

I sometimes drive cos its too cold/windy/raining/lazy.

I might have a couple at lunch, but wouldnt carry on during the afternoon - I dont think thats a great idea tbh

10 minutes is a very short walk.

Am leaving the house now, wind and rain have disappeared so now I just have to focus on the straight line I must follow. Felt so indulgent today, but am 40 on Saturday so think I may have earnt it. Please pray for me that teacher doesn't want to chat about DD2 (again)
