She went back to work three weeks after having her babies and thinks all women should. I was still bleeding heavily and surviving on about three hours sleep a night then!!!!!!

Did I miss the election where all women voted for Katie Hopkins to be our representative on all things regarding mothering???

She is a cock so best to ignore her.

Never heard of her...

LostMyIdentityAlongTheWay · 05/05/2011 19:42

eh? Who she? Why care we? Why me talk like Obi Wan Kenobi?

Is she a sleb? I try to avoid all stuff to do with them. I'd rather dig my eyes out with a spoon.

RatherBeACyborg · 05/05/2011 19:42

Meh, she's just being so over-the-top controversial to get on the telly. And yes, she's a cock. Who cares what she thinks - she isn't passing the laws.

wotnochocs · 05/05/2011 19:51

Nearly all dad's go back 2 weeks after, should we start a thread about that. No? Thought not!

pippop1 · 05/05/2011 19:54

She thought the mothers at the playgroup had forthright opinions! Pot? Kettle?

Children come before business in my opinion. She thinks it's vice versa. Karma.

TheCrackFox · 05/05/2011 19:55

I dunno, do dads shit something roughly the size of a water melon out of their arse, resulting in stiches, when they become a dad? If they do then i will start lobbying for longer paternity leave.

mymummyisasquarehead · 05/05/2011 19:55

Oh, that idiot?! What the fuck does she know about...well....anything really?!?!

Bunbaker · 05/05/2011 19:56

Who is she? If she doesn't like babies why did she bother having them?

noodle69 · 05/05/2011 19:58

I dont know who she is but I went back to uni 10 days post birth. I did it so I didnt have to miss a year and so I still got student loan to survive. I dont think it means I shouldnt have had a child though

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/05/2011 19:58

She makes her money from spouting 'controversial
' crap. Which is so predictable it's boring.

frgaaah · 05/05/2011 20:00

Actually wotnochocs I think it is a very reasonable thread you've proposed - discussing the motivations behind a significant percentage of new fathers refusing to take any parental leave, or the fact that parental leave (e.g. emergency childcare) is disproportionately taken by female employees (by choice/financial implications/feeling like there's no other choice/whatever) - there is a valid thread somewhere there Smile

TheCrackFox · 05/05/2011 20:02

Well, I was made redundant on maternity (3 weeks after having DS2 whilst I had been readmitted to hospital due to complications, which was a nice touch) so I don't blame men for not wanting to take their full whack of paternity leave.

hairfullofsnakes · 05/05/2011 20:09

Frgaaah - but the reason women are home with their babies is a very important one, it's what nature intended and a baby needs it's mother!

I find Katie Hopkins' views awful and each to their own on breast and formula feeding but she was totally dismissive and rude about breastfeeding and the goodness it offers too. Silly woman she is!

Oooh look KH has been controversial again, what a suprise.

Bogeyface · 05/05/2011 20:13

DH isnt taking paternity leave because we couldnt afford the drop in wages that it would cause the month after the baby is born. He is taking 2 weeks paid holiday instead but if he couldnt do that then he would have a couple of days off and then go back to work.

Its purely financial for us.

AuraofDora · 05/05/2011 20:14

never heard of her either and not interested..what a load of shite by the sounds of it, her poor kids

chocolatchaud · 05/05/2011 20:15

Clearly she lives on a different planet to me, but each to their own I suppose.

Please don't publicise this crap though Katie, and make women feel as if they have failed by not being back into their size 10 work suits and at their desks within 3 weeks.

Some of us take motherhood as seriously as our careers.

valiumbandwitch · 05/05/2011 20:17

She must have earned a good salary Confused

Wonder if she'd have raced back to work if she was on about 26k a year or whatever the national average for a woman of childbearing age is.

SilveryMoon · 05/05/2011 20:25

I saw it on the One Show and was a bit p*ed off at how easily she tried to dismiss the woman who was questioning the effects on small children when they are separated from their mother during office hours.
Regardless of my opinions, thos woman had a very valid point and if that prat Hopkins can spout off exactly what she thinks of Mother's taking full maternity leave, then she needs to be ready to hear their argument and not dismiss it.

I don't think there's any right or wrong and each family have to make decisions that are best for them, their survival and their well-being.
Some people aren't made to be SAHM's, some will be happier working and because of that may have a happier family, but others want to have that precious time to bond, to get to know their children and be able to take into account a child's individual personality when looking for childcare.

She is a bit of a monster tbh.I don't think she's cold or selfish for going back to work 3 weeks after giving birth.
I think she is a horrendous bitch for implying anyone who takes a year off is lazy!
Prat
