She went back to work three weeks after having her babies and thinks all women should. I was still bleeding heavily and surviving on about three hours sleep a night then!!!!!!

roffle @ 'she is a cock so best to ignore her'

sorky · 05/05/2011 20:35

oh dear, her history of parenting and fidelity doesn't sound great does it?.....surprising, since (on google) she looks likes she's chewing a wasp that hit the back end of a bus too.

expatinscotland · 05/05/2011 20:36

She had nannies.

She can get to fuck with that.

expatinscotland · 05/05/2011 20:38

She also lives in a place where people can afford to take off the full 9 or 12 months or whatever.

I know that isn't the case for most working poor.

I could only afford 16 weeks + two weeks holiday because after 16 weeks there was a 10% drop in it that I couldn't afford.

Portofino · 05/05/2011 20:39

I am a big believer in Karma. Kids know who put the effort in - not necessarily as SAHMs. I predict for Katie a lonely and shallow old age.

AnnieBesant · 05/05/2011 20:40

Lightweight. Xenia went back after a fortnight...

tiredfeet · 05/05/2011 20:41

Who is she?

I find most people like her who bitch about people who do things differently from them are insecure about their own decisions. The rest of us know that life is complicated and most people are just trying to do their best.

thelittlefriend · 05/05/2011 20:47

hadn't heard of her so googled her. Her website cracks me up, "social commentator" my arse!!

fivegomadindorset · 05/05/2011 20:53

I went back after 10 days.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 05/05/2011 21:08

I don't believe that she said 'all women SHOULD'. She's more media savvy than that and wouldn't be so daft. I saw her on Vanessa Feltz and she was saying that that was her choice and she defends herself forcefully against others who say that she shouldn't have had chlidren. So why would she say something that totally opposes that? It doesn't make any sense.

I suspect that people don't like her and take that dislike to the level of saying that she shouldn't have had children... she wouldn't agree with you and I don't either. Why not let mothers decide for themselves without being judged all the time? Confused

NinkyNonker · 05/05/2011 21:36

She's a pantomime villain who does her cause more harm than good, so those who disagree with her ought to hope that she carries on with her superficial, infantile arguments as they only serve to undermine her.

NulliusInVerba · 05/05/2011 22:24

I have often wondered the same, OP!!

She is the least maternal woman on TV, holds hideous right wing veiws, and is in general, a total bitch.
I cant beleive the attention Alan Sugar gave her. Maybe thats what he liked, total ruthness-nasty-heartless-bitchness.

After all, shes hardly likely to take a day off to look after them, is she?? All about the profits.

nijinsky · 05/05/2011 22:27

Maybe she is trying to emulate so-called "superwoman" like Nicola Horlick? In which case, she better get a more successful career...

JuicyLips · 05/05/2011 22:48

I thought it was Yoda, not Obi Wan?

beachyhead · 05/05/2011 22:49

She did have a bit of a rant on the One Show and I'm not sure why she was allowed to be so radical on that kind of show. I don't particularly like her and she's not really that important in terms of business, but the only point she made, that may be relevant, is that when small businesses look at women who are of child bearing age, whether or not they are going to have kids (as they are not allowed to ask), they are probably disinclined to employ them as may have periods when the employee won't be there, over the next 5-10 years.... the problem was that she lost that in all her vitriole on SAHM's which is never a good line.

I think that she was trying to explain (badly) why she felt that maternity leave in whatever form, was bad for women, as it put employers off you in the first place and does not allow employers to look at men and women in the same way.

Personally, I think it is very appropriate for women to have maternity leave, but I do believe that the employer should not lose out after a period of 3 or 6 months.

For the record, I was a working mum with nanny for 11 years and have been a SAHM for the last 3 years (all own choice) and I can see the benefits of both.

blindmelon · 05/05/2011 22:51

Oh god, has she turned up spouting the same drivel again?

I saw her on that Vanessa show- she called us 'mumsnutters' Grin I did think about posting about it at the time but thought I'd get flamed for watching Vanessa (in my defense I was pinned to the sofa by a poorly sleeping baby at the time!)

Clytaemnestra · 05/05/2011 22:52

You remember The Word, with the "I'd do anything to get on TV" segment?

That's like Katie Hopkins' life. Doesn't care what is pouring out of her mouth or how she looks as long as someone is filming it happen.

expatinscotland · 05/05/2011 23:29

She needs a haircut, too.

EightiesChick · 05/05/2011 23:36

Attention seling whacko pandering to what mysogynists want to hear. Let's all ignore her and maybe she'll go away.

wikolite · 06/05/2011 00:20

She does have a very abrasive style but I do think she does make some interesting points particulary regarding the covert discrimination against women of child bearing age. She does also appear to have a lot of drive which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

NinkyNonker · 06/05/2011 07:50

She does have some valid points, but discredits herself with childish name calling. She also does feminism no favours, assuming that all female traits and abilties are worthless and in order to be treated with respect or equality we all ought to ape men.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 06/05/2011 07:58

You do realise that, as with most people on the television, what she says and what she actually did/thinks are probably two different things? Calling her out on her advice on motherhood is one thing but questioning why she had children is ridiculous.

IWantToBeAFairyWhenIGrowUp · 06/05/2011 08:06

Is she the silly tart who didn't win the Apprentice a few years ago?

Lunabelly · 06/05/2011 08:18

Made me GGGRRRRR...

Women give birth, employers are going to have to accept that, because, errrr, there isn't any other way. And females like KH are delivering a mighty, steel toecapped, stitch-ripping kick in the vag to other mothers.
When a child is taken ill or something, a parent needs to take that child to the doctor...employers need to accept that, as er, well, in order to propagate the human race, mummies and daddies have to have special cuddles etc SO THIS SHOULD BE BLOODY WELL FACTORED IN.

The human race is here to go forth and multiply, NOT make rich muthafuckas richer or sell unwanted extended warranties, or in my nother's case, make food for drunken nightclub wankers.

My mother worked. Did us no good whatsoever. I was a latchkey kid from the age of about 7, and was mostly babysitting my brothers overnight from the age of about 10. Just so mum could 'hold her head up high' regarding NOT claiming benefits. All this just so we could STILL have nothing in the cupboards, and dress in shit. What was the point?

It's because of this that I CHOOSE to be a SAHM, as my children are more important to me than 'pride' or several foreign holidays a year. Plus anything I could earn would only go straight out on childcare. Pointless excercise all round. DH earns a pittance and there's still nothing in the cupboard, but at least I'm there to take the nothing and turn it into some pasta dish or other, unlike when I was a kid and once all we had in the house was a crust of bread and half a bag of frozen parsnips. (My childhood hasn't coloured my view at all, oh no, no way).

Plus, well, after my DD nearly dying from meningitis as a baby, I want to watch over my DCs like a hawk.

So if KH wants to live like that, well, let her...her DCs will no doubt let her know what they think one day. BUT how very dare she try and kick us ALL in the tits with her power dress stilettoes; She is simply a woman who hates other women.
