She went back to work three weeks after having her babies and thinks all women should. I was still bleeding heavily and surviving on about three hours sleep a night then!!!!!!

I didn't watch this particular programme but have seen Katie Hopkins before.
It's just her opinion isn't it? I'm sure she isn't actually going to influence any decisions on policy so she's entitled to her say. Some women recover very quickly from childbirth, choose not to breastfeed and prefer to return to work as soon as possible. As long as her children have adequate childcare [which could well be the other parent] then so what?

NulliusInVerba · 06/05/2011 11:40

Katie seems to think she is a chicken, just laying her egg and then off she pops while someone else cracks it and cooks it.....

McDreamy · 06/05/2011 13:10

Is she really as extreme as she says she is? I'm sure she was back at work after 3 weeks of giving birth but does she really look down that much on SAHM or mum's who take more mat leave.

If she is extreme in her views I find it hard to believe she ever wanted children, why did she have them, and 3?

I think she's been "developed" by the media into this extreme character for the tv - it makes good viewing, makes her money, brings her fame.

Frimblypoo · 06/05/2011 13:18

Katie Hopkins, for example, is a twat.

she didn't wind me up at all, she just showed herself up as an immature twunt.

wordfactory · 06/05/2011 13:27

I believe our very own Xenia went back to work within weeks of each birth, yet she clearly adores her babies...women can work and be good mothers.

Sure KH says some daft stuff....but it doesn't make her a poor parent

valiumbandwitch · 06/05/2011 13:30

she developed that character herself. even in the final of the apprentice with the other woman, the one katie described as being orange (i can't remember her name but she was far less machiavellian) suralan basically TOLD katie to drop out of the running and then the final was between the irish orange woman and sur alan's mini me. he chose his mini me.

Thingiebob · 06/05/2011 13:45

Remember she said she found out she was pregnant and was due to run a marathon. She decided she would go ahead and race and if she was still pregnant at the end of it she would keep the baby. Pretty unpleasant thing to say!

McDreamy · 06/05/2011 13:46

Shock that is an awful thing to say Sad

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 06/05/2011 13:51

Why wouldn't she still be pregnant after running a marathon? It seems a bit of an odd thing to say but then she is a bit odd. She's a media fiend... but it's not hurting anybody else, is it?

blindmelon · 06/05/2011 13:58

She clearly has issues with breastfeeding... I've heard her twice now on Radio 2 and the Vanessa show trotting out the same lines about smug mothers in Costa coffee deliberately breastfeeding in public to make other women look bad. I think the phrase was "dangling their mammaries" Angry Yes, the only reason I am breastfeeding my baby in public is to make you look bad - nothing to do with the fact that she's hungry and this was the closest place I could find to sit down! I now can't help thinking of her every bloody time I'm breastfeeding in Costa!

She seems to be making a career from being an anti-SAHM rent-a-gob. Suralan would be so proud...

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 06/05/2011 14:01

I don't think she gives a fig about making him proud or not, I wouldn't either.

I've heard her talk about SAHM but also about choice and she's repeated that choice is what all women have. I don't disagree with that.

bemybebe · 06/05/2011 14:05

blindmelon "I now can't help thinking of her every bloody time I'm breastfeeding in Costa!"

Let me give you a very non-MN hug.

Lying you are so bloody sensible!! Wink I think KH is the only woman out there who I actually want to kick hard. Very unlike me!!!!

bemybebe · 06/05/2011 14:07

Lying "I've heard her talk about SAHM but also about choice and she's repeated that choice is what all women have. I don't disagree with that."

Choice is what women may have (debatable, but fine). The only problem with this is that she would not want you to have this choice.

Iwishiwasaprincess · 06/05/2011 14:14

Why even give her airspace?

I'ma stay-at-home-mum. Neither he'll or high water would prize me from my kids. It's not right for everyone, but it isrightfor me.

I care not what anyone else thinks about my decision. I claim no benefits other than CS, and that is stopping, so this Katie hopkins spout all she wants.
Just turnoff when she is on.

Rather like how you would deal with a toddler who is being deliberately naughty to get attention

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 06/05/2011 14:15

bemybebe... Agree with you about the choice to be SAHP, it's very much dependent on circumstances BUT whatever Katie Hopkins thinks, she has no control over what you or I do and never will.... she's just words at the end of a segment on Vanessa... she's never going to be on Question Time or running the country. I feel a bit sorry for her actually, she's a bright woman who has become renowned for repeating a certain mantra that gets up almost everybody's nose, she's a caricatured 'puppet'. That's not a career, not a good one anyway, and she has wasted her potential very badly. Confused

bemybebe · 06/05/2011 14:24

She was on the bloody QT, otherwise I would have never known of her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not what all the other crap she was on... I hope it will stay this way.

bemybebe · 06/05/2011 14:25

what=watch, sorry, as I pg woman I am very "emotional"

AlpinePony · 06/05/2011 14:27

YABVU.

So what if she can function on little sleep? Why must we always gravitate towards the LCD?

Lunabelly · 06/05/2011 18:55

She was spouting about how SAHMs brains turn to mush and we get all fat and useless. Nice.

(Okay, so pre motherhood I had an IQ of 159 and was size zero and had more get-up-and-go than a flea on speed, and now I look like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, have the energy of a sloth and often forget my own name, but that's because DH and exBF behaved like a pair of twunts I'm on antidepressants, NOT because of motherhood.)

She made me feel a bit killy, TBH.

NinkyNonker · 06/05/2011 18:59

I just struggle to care what she thinks or get het up over it. We disagree, c'est la vie.

ItsCHEEKYTime · 07/05/2011 01:29

what a c*nt she is.

Where has her "posh" accent come from - she didnt talk like that on the apprentice.

suburbanslob · 07/05/2011 08:52

I have a four week old son and still feel like I'm bordering insanity, never mind the physical effects. I personally felt that her comments were bourne out of jealousy and insecurity as the way I took it was that because it's her business she had to go back to work. I was appalled when the baby group mum tried to reply to her argument and she wouldn't listen as they had to her. As a 'career girl' myself who left work to have a baby I can now 100% now appreciate how hard (and fulfilling) a job it is to look after a baby whereas I suppose prior I would have scoffed at those who suggested it was. Perhaps as she went back to work so soon she never got to find out...

bemybebe · 07/05/2011 09:36

I am going to be really bitchy, but can please someone explain, what fantastic career does Katie Hopkins have apart from jumping from channel to channel to air her vile persona?

Ishani · 07/05/2011 09:57

She has a career in shagging married men and breaking homes for a start.

purepurple · 07/05/2011 10:04

I have never heard of her and have no desire to find out any more abouy her than what I have read on this thread.
