To laugh at women that don't work but........

To laugh at women that don't work but rush to the school gates 10 mins after the bell and usually rushing in at school finishing time rambling on about how busy they are and there is not enough time in the day.

I only work 16 hours a week and still manage to get everything done and a meal on the table.

So the question is ''Are people that work more organized?''

OP posts:

I think the question is:

Why do you bother doing this sort of boring reductive bollocks?

Maylee · 28/01/2011 12:45

16 hours? Meh.

Try full time (38 hrs min), single mum, home cooked food, nice clean clothes and at the school gates on time.

But most of all, some of us have the dignity not to be arrogant twats about it.

stuffthenonsense · 28/01/2011 12:45

No they are not more organised. Just running on a different time structure and with different priorities.
I think it is unreasonable for women to laugh at each other (unless it is a shared joke) full stop!

SarahStrattonHasNiceBears · 28/01/2011 12:46

Depends what your day involves I think. I don't work but I am busy pretty much all day most days. I do cut myself some slack and have 'me' days though.

I'm up at 6am and out walking the dogs by quarter past. I then have 2 children to get ready and a 50 mile round trip to get them to their respective schools. I have 2 horses that need caring for and exercising plus a largish house to keep clean and what feels like the Himalayas of washing to do each day.

Once I've waded through all that I repeat the school run, get home, do the horses again. Sort out dinner/homework/dogs etc and probably don't sit down until 8.30pm or so.

The nearest school, DD1's is 16 miles away, it only takes a tractor to get on the road ahead of me to severely delay me.

Yabu you have no idea what is going on in their lives

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 28/01/2011 12:47

tulpe · 28/01/2011 12:49

YABU

Why on earth do you presume that they have an easier run to school than you because they "don't work"?

And don't even get me started on that f*cking terminology because the one thing nobody can say about me as an SAHM is that I "don't work"!!!

TrollyMcTrollPants · 28/01/2011 12:49

YABU Biscuit

AnnieLobeseder · 28/01/2011 12:50

TrollyMcTrollPants · 28/01/2011 12:52

Is it similar to the issue on this thread?

TheCrackFox · 28/01/2011 12:53

Is it martyr day on Mumsnet? Confused

waitwhat · 28/01/2011 12:53

Just because a sahm doest have a job doest mean she sits on her arse all day does it?

funtimewincies · 28/01/2011 12:54

Well done you OP, have a Biscuit.

FanellaFudge · 28/01/2011 12:56
ShirleyKnot · 28/01/2011 12:56

So perculiar. I wonder if OP has some kind of timing problem.

MissyMorrison87 · 28/01/2011 12:57

Yeah what trolly said. Do you have nothing interesting to talk about and feel the need to repeat yourself constantly like an irritating 3yr old??

SarahStrattonHasNiceBears · 28/01/2011 12:58

Oh, is this a regular occurrence then? In that case I retract my post and change it to

Have a Biscuit and fuck off.

Arneb · 28/01/2011 12:59

I know a mother who worked full- time and was always late to pick up her DC from school. Then she stopped working to be a SAHM - she is now always late to pick DC up from school.

Based on this anecdotal evidence I conclude lateness and working/not working are not linked.

I am currently a SAHM - I pretty much always on time. However yesterday I was a bit late getting to school as my toddler refused to get dresses - spent 45 minutes threatening/bribing demanding, ignoring to no effect. I really did think he would be walking to school to pick eldest DC up in the nude.

AMumInScotland · 28/01/2011 13:00

Believe it or not, some people can be "busy" without having a paid job. They may have a baby that sleeps badly, a husband on night-shifts, a dog that has to be walked before breakfast, frail parents or in-laws who have to be visited and shopped for. They may have housework, gardening, their car up on chocks to mend it, be in the middle of rewiring their entire house, volunteer for a charity, be studying in college or with OU.

You don't know the first thing about their lives, but you think its fine to "laugh at them" all the same. Lovely.

Fernie3 · 28/01/2011 13:01

Wow mums net is getting really anti sahm isn't it.
Maybe they had a busy day with other children, elderly relatives or any number of other things that take a hell of a lot more than 16 hours a week.

sevendwarves · 28/01/2011 13:05

OP, I suggest you either namechange, chill out and stop judging or FUCK OFF.
