To laugh at women that don't work but........

To laugh at women that don't work but rush to the school gates 10 mins after the bell and usually rushing in at school finishing time rambling on about how busy they are and there is not enough time in the day.

I only work 16 hours a week and still manage to get everything done and a meal on the table.

So the question is ''Are people that work more organized?''

Thats what DP says...

Are we sitting comfortably? Good thenI'll begin.
Once upon a time in the wonderful kingdom of Mumsnet there was a huge long bridge but underneath it there lived a big, hairy creature that would come out occasionally and spout bollocks at all who dared to pass.....

matchbox20 - you might enjoy pushmeinthepool's threads.

clearly not active enough though love is it? still got a bit too much space/time left over to judge other mums and make snidely comments. since you don't work why not pop to the library before you fetch the dcs. get some nice novels out (pats head)

and the gold medal for the most perfect mother goes to matchbox20, please tell us how you did it, I am sure we would all like to know how you reached the pinnacle of perfection.

So matchbox, seen as you like a good debate, what would you class as an acceptable number of hours to work per week?

I don't really like judging people and would suggest that it's very easy to suddenly find yourself in someone else's boat...

NellyTheElephant · 28/01/2011 13:29

I know this is all a bit silly, but thought I'd add my comment anyway! I have 3 small children (all under 6) and since having children have worked full time (for 18 months), part time (for 1 yr) and now SAHM. As it happens I am rarely late for anything as that is my character, as it presumably is yours. I know loads of people who are always late regardless of whether they have children.

In many ways life was much easier when I was working! Certainly sticking to a timetable was easier... but then I had less children... you only have one AND he's at school! It is super easy to be on time in those circumstances!! Maybe we need to play a one-upmanship game regarding who has the most children and still manages to be on time?? It's all the other little monsters waking up grumpy after naps / refusing to put their shoes on / doing a poo just as you are walking out of the door that make you late.

AbsDuCroissant · 28/01/2011 13:29

Let's start a "controversial topic" bingo, so:

  • WOHM vs SAHM: done
  • Income: getting there
  • Benefits
  • BF vs FF

Any others?

matchbox20 · 28/01/2011 13:29

It is wrong to be late to school.

It is wrong to be late picking your child up from school.

It is wrong to have kids then give them to someone else to look after.

FACTS.

LadyTremaine · 28/01/2011 13:30

I thought it was out of duty to your children that you worked..? Which is it?

GetOrfMoiLand · 28/01/2011 13:30

DirtyMartini · 28/01/2011 13:32

Poor love, with nothing better to do with your time than try to wind us up & attention-seek.

I suppose we should try to be sympathetic really, as you're clearly so damn needy.

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 28/01/2011 13:32

Trollery will do it every time - it's just so boring and pathetic.

FunnysInTheGarden · 28/01/2011 13:32

ahhh matchbox you are lovely..........

matchbox20 · 28/01/2011 13:32

Nelly the people i talk of only have one child.........

The accetable number of hours to work is when your child is at school or being looked after by ther dad and NOT someone else.
