Will it?

Will it?

Will it?

WILL IT?

Who knew a visit to the loo on Sebenhams could raise my temperature so much?

Gah.

This door is alarmed.

What about?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 12/11/2010 10:48

This product contains wheat gluten (bread).

Well - good.

Just noticed my typo in OP.

That's how irked I am.

GrimmaTheNome · 12/11/2010 10:50

well it might if its flammable but as I assume this was in relation to a water tap, I can confidently state that hot water will not burn.

It might scald you.

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 12/11/2010 10:52

Exfuckingactly Grimma.

It's like a packet of peanuts saying "contains nuts", innit? A friendly warning, but factually incorrect.

PussinJimmyChoos · 12/11/2010 10:53

On a jar of peanut butter

Warning - containts nuts

Er...really??!

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 12/11/2010 10:55

I think I'm going to go and buy a Sharpie and correct it.

This sort of stuff really pizzes me off.

It's not rocket science.

(And, yes, it's a really unnecessary sign, even if it was correct).

I don't mind signs warning about very hot water, TBH, kids scald more easily than grownups. Though if they can go to the bother of putting up a sign why don't they lower the thermostats? - hate a choice of cold or unusably hot. I mean no-one puts a plug in a public basin and mixes do they?

jybay · 12/11/2010 11:18

Grimma, I've got a feeling that - ahem - public conveniences have to have separate hot & cold taps by law. Don't ask me why - as you say, a mixer would be much better.

GrimmaTheNome · 12/11/2010 11:24

No, I know they can't have mixers, but scalding hot water is of no use to anyone so if they know its too hot they should reduce its temp.

Also Not Rocket Science Grin

nickelbangBANGbang · 12/11/2010 11:28

yes, it will scald.

but it will feel like burning on your hand, which i think is what they're getting at.

idiots.

why can't they just say "hot water is dangerous, please mix with cold before using"

nickelbangBANGbang · 12/11/2010 11:29

yes, Grimma, it only needs to be 65degrees in the heater to kill germs.

it'll cool down quite a lot on the way out, so it should be fine.

thisisyesterday · 12/11/2010 11:32

why can't it just say "caution: very hot water"

or something like that. OR "hot water can cause burns"... which it can. can't it?

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 12/11/2010 11:34

Hmm, would molten metal (other than mercury) burn rather than scald? Internet sources seem to differ on that one. But if you have molten lead coming out of the taps in Debenhams then probably grammar is

umf · 12/11/2010 11:35

Those "This door is alarmed ones" - my slightly nutty mother writes "whisper something reassuring as you go past" underneath, if there's space and she has the chance.

jybay · 12/11/2010 11:40

umf - loving that, may nick the idea. Smile

umf · 12/11/2010 11:44

It's great, isn't it? But you need a Sharpie and to drill the spelling of "reassuring". I don't think I'd have the nerve. Still, turning into my mother in so many ways that my day will probably come.

nickelbangBANGbang · 12/11/2010 11:44

all liquids scald.

so yes, molten metals count as liquid, so they will scald.

when they're very hot solid, they will burn.

DemonChild · 12/11/2010 11:48

Tiredness kills - motorway signs.

No it doesn't. Crashing kills.
