Will it?

Will it?

Will it?

WILL IT?

Who knew a visit to the loo on Sebenhams could raise my temperature so much?

Gah.

Local softplay sign - "hot drinks will scold"

dementedma · 12/11/2010 11:54

umf love it!! Your mother rocks!
Mine once went into a store advertising "hot child's meals" and asked if the cold children were also provided for!

On another note, if I hear the word "diarise" once more I'm going to KILL someone.

umf · 12/11/2010 11:57

My absolute favourites are the

"This sign not yet in use"

signs that have appeared during roadworks on M25 and A14 in last few years.

PlentyOfPockets · 12/11/2010 12:02

On a packet of poppy seeds: 'product of natural origin - please hand sort before use' ... just how bored would you have to be?

My favourite is the little sachets in shoe boxes and electronics packaging: 'silica gel - do not eat' ... I'm always strangely tempted by that.

Then of course, there's the best caution sign of all time!

larrygrylls · 12/11/2010 12:08

How about that crap add for some antacid:

"turns acid into water and other natural products"

As if your stomach acid were manufactured synthetically....

maighdlin · 12/11/2010 12:48

box of mixed fruit and nuts. - warning this packet MAY contain nuts. I would fucking hope so!!

babyicebean · 12/11/2010 12:58

The tiramisu I bought yesterday states 'do not turn product upside down' - on the bottom.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 12/11/2010 13:01

I love the warning on a packet I recently bought

WARNING - may cause drowsiness. If affected do not drive.....

The product?

Nytol.

It had better ruddy well cause drowsiness or I've wasted my money!

Muser · 12/11/2010 13:01

I once had a bag of salad that proclaimed it was suitable for vegetarians.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 12/11/2010 13:04

As opposed to the salad made from buffalo and otters, I assume.

So is it that we have compensation culture gone crazy or is it (as I fear) that there are, really are, people out there that are so stupid that they need instructions on a pack of toothpicks and to be warned that nuts contain nuts and sleeping pills will make you drowsy?

nickelbangBANGbang · 12/11/2010 13:07

I can understand the salad one, as there are some salads that have chicken in or ham.

(probably not a bag of salad leaves, but y'know...)

PaisleyLeaf · 12/11/2010 13:07

A yoghurt I had recently said 'eat within 3 days'

  • I managed it in 3 minutes!
wahine12 · 12/11/2010 13:08

We ahd a message from our security department introducing the two new members of the team and inviting us to 'come over them'. Their photos were next to the announcement. The message was sent to about 300 people.

I didn't stop laughing for about 3 hours.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 12/11/2010 13:13

funny

love it

here

hee hee

and hecate lowers the tone again

suwoo · 12/11/2010 13:17

Ha ha Wahine, that would have amused me no end.

HibernoCaledonian · 12/11/2010 13:32

Flying the pedant flag here but medically a scald is a burn.

nickelbangBANGbang · 12/11/2010 13:32

hecate- is that last one a "no smoking" sign ? Grin

nickelbangBANGbang · 12/11/2010 13:34

medically, maybe, but not actually, technically, or scientifically.

our new shoppers' reward card is called "Shop Local" and not "Shop Locally" - it's correct in the name of the card, but not in the english language. :)

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 12/11/2010 13:36

Feck HibernoC. I've just altered the signs.

Poshpaws · 12/11/2010 13:43

Bought DS3 a poster with Disney 'Cars' characters on it and there was a warning on it saying that it was not suitable for under 3s because the small parts could cause a choking incident.

It was a flat poster to go on the wall Confused.

RustyBear · 12/11/2010 13:44

DD is also proving herself her mother's daughter - she took a photo of this sign in Reading.

GrimmaTheNome · 12/11/2010 13:51

Flying the pedant flag here but medically a scald is a burn.

Yes, but the OPs point was that the sign said 'Hot liquid will burn'

If the hot liquid is water it is chemically impossible to burn it. Its as oxidized as its ever going to be.
(flying the chemical pedant flag Grin)

umf · 12/11/2010 13:54

rusty, eeek, that was a link to all your family pics - did you mean to do that?

poshpaws yes, isn't it bonkers! DS (almost 4) keeps on and on asking me why various toys say not suitable for under 3s. Just can't explain to him about elf'n'safety/compensation culture yet.

anonymousbird · 12/11/2010 13:59

Accidents with chainsaws are rarely trivial

On a chainsaw, obviously.
