For years at night there was a big digital sign in front of Brixton police station with the warning:

Taking their job a little too seriously don't you think?

On the downside, I saw a sign on the back of a toilet door yesterday saying 'sanitary ware should be thrown in the bin', and someone had come along with a biro, crossed out

'ware'

and written

'wear'

which makes me think we should give up while we're ahead.

In the cafe in Debenhams there used to be a sign which read "Mum! Watch that child with boiling water".
