Who knew a visit to the loo on Sebenhams could raise my temperature so much?

This sign is not yet in use. East Anglia so probably A11/A14

(have we done that one? Sorry not read whole thread, but suspect it was in there somewhere)

Lynli · 12/11/2010 14:08

At soft play.

Only food purchased here may be consumed
except for small babies.

umf · 12/11/2010 14:08

I loooooooooove that one, anon. DH and I have actually driven along A14 with window open and camera trying to get decent pic of it.

RustyBear · 12/11/2010 14:24

It's OK, umf, that's my public folder -the link was meant to go to the particular photo of a notice in a shop window rather than the view of them all, but I don't mind if people see the others - they are all pictures I've posted on MN at one time or another.

ZombiePlan · 12/11/2010 14:27

I think the "May contain nuts" thing on packets of nuts is because they're bagged up in factories where bits of other types of nut could get in. However, I think it would look less idiotic and actually be clearer in meaning if they put "May contain other varieties of nuts" instead.

Generally however the OP is defNBU. All these "hot when heated" type notices drive me batshit. People should not need to be notified about the obvious.

ratspeaker · 12/11/2010 14:38

Dh got a new camera.
The instructions contain the warning Do Not Use If On Fire

My mum got so irritated by a sign near her saying
Childrens play area that she sent me out with a marker to put in the missing apostrophe

HRHCavey · 12/11/2010 14:42

Not so much pedantic as lost in translation:

Daily Mail in amusing article shock Grin

wem · 12/11/2010 14:49

The "may contain nuts" on a bag of peanuts is because peanuts aren't nuts, so nut allergy sufferers are normally ok with them, unless the factory uses nuts etc.

nuts nuts nuts, a few extra nuts there as I don't think I used enough in the previous sentence.

BendyBob · 12/11/2010 15:02

We had a removal lorry parked in our road for ages right outside my house bearing the legend in large letters 'If your happy, we're happy!Smile'

I so wanted to correct it with a pot of red paint - to make myself as happy as they clearly wanted me to feelGrin

I even asked dc to tell me why it was wrong Blush What a fun mummy I am.

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 12/11/2010 15:05

I'll join your FunMummy gang, BendyB.

I'm always seeing if the DCs have spotted the errors.

Gawd I'm a bundle of laughs.

Bargain

BoysAreLikeDogs · 12/11/2010 15:26

lolo

loving the chemical pedantry too

CountryDweller · 12/11/2010 15:49

Speed kills

No it doesn't, crap driving does.

NoahAndTheWhale · 12/11/2010 16:01

I get annoyed when I see signs saying "Use both lanes". No, you mean use either lane. You only need to use both lanes if you are in a very wide vehicle.

Lilymaid · 12/11/2010 16:17

Recorded message on my commuter train:

"Take care when leaving the train"

That will make all the difference.

ditavonteesed · 12/11/2010 16:19

first time a thread has actually made me snort coffee down my nose.

GrimmaTheNome · 12/11/2010 16:26

Was it hot coffee?

'Warning, MNing while ingesting hot drinks can caused scalded nasal passages.'

scaryjane · 12/11/2010 16:40

On my birth pool:
'no diving' and 'not suitable for under 3's'

BendyBob · 12/11/2010 16:59

Or what about those moving floor thingies they have in some supermarkets that take you and your trolley to the next floor.

Gawd help us constant wittering at you to face the front, take care, take CARE!!, approaching 'landing level'Hmm get on, get off, don't forget to breathe...blimey anyone would think you were entering an area where there'd been some sort of nuclear spillage the amount of care you have to take. And it only goes a few feet at 0.00004mph.

Ormirian · 12/11/2010 17:02

If it was liquid petroleum it will burn. Or is it more correct to say that the vapour will burn.... ?

I do love 'this door is alarmed' Grin

Ormirian · 12/11/2010 17:04

I also LOL at bit at 'danger of death' signs on electricity substastation. yes I know it's correct but it sounds odd.

MargueriteArgeneau · 12/11/2010 18:35

My new hair dryer came with the warning "Do not use this appliance in the shower."

Words fail me. Someone must have sued when they were electrocuted...

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 12/11/2010 18:47
